Just saw the interview on the shuttlepod show and they mentioned this recreation in Ticonderoga, NY. Hope many other viewers find this and visit. If I ever get to NY state, I'll make a pilgrimage here. Thank you for creating this and thanks most of all to Gene R. for the vision to help us imagine a better future.
My name is Markus McLaughlin; "Star Trek" entered my life at the age of 6; I would come home from school; I put on television; one of the shows I discovered was The Original Series; and I fell in love. This happened a year after I saw "Star Wars" for the first time at a cinema, (at a drive-in theater;) Over a decade later, I became a member of the defunct "USS Kasimar," at my late father's vocational school, the fan club raised enough money to build a TOS Bridge Replica; once that was built, I got to be on it,; I was in the Captain's chair, I had a polaroid of it, but I lost it; but I was able to keep the photo of me at Spock's station. This was around the time when TNG was on television. The 1990s wasn't a good decade for me, personally, but my love of "Star Trek" expanded with "Deep Space.Nine" and the TNG films that came out. I miss that time. I now live in Massachusetts, I plan to come to NY State to see this tour, I think it will be Summer 2025... LLAP! :D
I was on that tour on June 25. It's been over a month and I'm still glowing. Mike, Doug and Denise were incredible guides and so nice to talk to. It was the experience of a lifetime. Thank you very much!
My father was a huge fan when the show originally aired and he watched it religiously every, single week. So this "Star Trek" world is a part of the backdrop of my childhood. I work as an artist in advertising...the art direction and the sets of the show have influenced me greatly throughout my life. I hope to be able to drive up the 5 hours or so to take the tour...I have a feeling that I will one of those feeling like I've come home.
