Doug is a little too confident whilst taking his drivers exam at work.
From Season 4 Episode 19 'Screwed Driver'. Carrie goes on a business trip to Chicago and Doug's boss informs him and his fellow IPS drivers that they're going to have to take a test that could affect their status as drivers.

Sam McMurray as Supervisor O'Boyle steals every scene he's in. This guy is gold. My favorite was Double Downer, when he crashes Doug and Deacon's trip to Atlantic City.

@@schofieldmate5416 makes more sense because it means apple tree. bound to apples makes no sense to me, also that surname does not exist while Applebaum, Appelbaum or Apfelbaum are common in the USA (but weirdly not in Germany, instead we have people named "Holzapfel" which means crab apple).

Mrs. Heffernan Doug's mother came over to the UPS building to give his son Doug Heffernan his lunch. Doug was so mad at his mother, and asked what she was doing here. Mrs. Heffernan Doug's mother explained that he forgot his lunch since he was so anxious and hurt feelings that his mother was disappointed in his son that he failed his UPS written test to renew his truck delivery license, and lied to his mother. Doug didn't need to give his mother a hug goodbye because his feelings are still hurt of how his mother yelled at him for being disappointed in his son for failing his UPS written test of renewing his truck delivery driving license, and lying to her.

Doug does not want to say something to his friend Deacon, because he was embarrassed and hurt feelings of his boss Mr. Patrick O'Boyle must have yelled at him for failing his UPS written test, and telling him that he cannot renew his UPS truck delivery license, and asked Doug he would leave to lose his UPS job, or stay at the UPS job to wear a belt to stay at the UPS building for his warehouse job.
