Very much appreciate you talking about the important work Doug Ritter does regarding knife rights. Under publicized but extremely important to us all. I suspect that Hogue simply experienced startup issues with the model & are now filling back orders. They do not ship bad products ever so I’m strongly of the opinion that’s the only issue regarding availability. To me, this knife with Hogue quality, M390 steel, & beautifully milled G10 is the undisputed bargain of the year and seriously well worth the wait! FYI - the three hole pattern accommodates all of the Benchmade ‘banner’ & ‘butterfly’ pocket clips and therefore all the available aftermarket clips as well such as from MXG Gear. The brass inserts are 2-56 thread size just like on Benchmade models too. Seeing that Hogue is noted for excellent coated blades, it wouldn’t surprise me to see an all blacked out version down the road. They’ve also been known to offer similar models in smaller sizes such as they do in the EX0n series so a ‘mini’ version showing up would not surprise me in the least. If the example that I got about a month ago is any indication (& I suspect that it is), this should be a serious home run for Hogue - especially in light of the recent Benchmade debacle. I cannot recommend this knife strongly enough. Serious excellence - and this from a guy who has had dozens of Grips & Minis including the Ritter variants.
I purchased this knife about 4 months ago based, in large part, on your videos and recommendations. I was in search of a knife to replace one that was given to me by my Dad. It was a benchmade barrage and was my first really nice folder. He passed and I unfortunately lost the knife, so I wanted to replace it. Through searching and watching lots of videos, I decided on the Ritter Hogue. I absolutely love it and think of my dad every time I get it out. Just wanted you to know that your videos aren't always just about the knife.
True say, this Hogue rsk mk1 g2 is the best blade you can get for the money! It is honestly a perfect knife in my opinion, very solid construction and geometry, high grinds, very slicey , very sharp! Will buy myself a second one real soon, this blade is worth every single cent of what they charge for it, although in West Ukraine it costs 223$ and not too easy to find one but even for that price it’s a great value! Very cool review! Like your channel a lot, lately I’ve been only watching knife videos on youtube, my wife says I’m obsessed with knives and she’s right, I do love them knives, good luck to you! Peace
Been hunting for this knife. Today in 2022, I finally got the good news from my favorite seller that he can get me one so I did not hesitate to put out the deposit. Yours and Nick Shabazz’s reviews helped me decide on this knife a long time ago. Just like the reviews you both made before I got my first and second Spyderco, the Shaman and Manix 2. Love those knives among others in my humble collection. Keep up the good work man and wishing you reach that 100K subscriber milestone sooner rather than later….
Short version: Great knife! Well made (here in the USA), quality materials and construction, solid and comfortable feel, good weight and balance, functionally and aesthetically pleasing -- all for a remarkable low price! Want only one folding knife? Buy this one! Long version: I bought this knife (in all black) about a year ago based on yours and Nick Shabazz’s reviews. It was, and is, my only folding blade. It exceeded my expectations. I agree with all of the great points you made from the solid feel to the aesthetics, but I love the ergonomics, too. It feels so perfect in my hand. Just as you stated, my "fingers fall naturally" on the grip with my forefinger locked into place beneath and my thumb resting easily and firmly on the gimping on top when used. And the gimping is just right: not too rough or too smooth, long enough to fit my thumb without touching the blade but extending seamlessly if I chose to choak up on the knife. The pattern on the scales offers enough grip to feel secure and comfortable when holding it -- and looks great as well! What a great design at a very reasonable price. Thanks for your thorough review and recommendation!
Thanks for the review. I have the Benchmade Ritter in s30v but I swapped out the plastic feeling scales for the KSF green linen micarta. Much better knife now. ETA: Okay... you sold me... I'm going to have to get the Hogue.
Still the best edc knife EVER and still a great value. Considering they now make a mini version with a 3” blade there is no reason for real knife users not to own one of these gems. I rediscovered this knife while on a USA made mission. I want to carry a USA made knife while I’m working. It has to be a moderately hard use knife usable with gloves and somewhat low carry profile. I like it so much, I have decided to take it everywhere. I will alternate it with the Gerber Fastball as work knives. Love this knife. Thank you for introducing it to me.
I'm late to the party, but i just recently bought this knife, the mini version. This knife is exactly the way you describe it, absolutely perfect! I was originally looking to the Mini Griptillian in G10, 20CV, but it's discontinued. So I discovered this knife, and I couldn't be happier. Almont glad I missed out on the Mini Griptillian, because this feels much better in hand. Great video and review. It has inspired me to subscribe to your channel now.
Just pre ordered this knife except AUTO version, & with MAGNACUT BLADE!!! It has G10 scales which I kinda wish were carbon fiber, but I believe Doug Ritter did this for keeping prices down. I'm hoping they make it correctly. Which, with Hogue producing AUTO'S of their own that they hit it outta the park. The ABLE lock is supposed to be an upgraded version of the Axis lock. It should feel different, it's got better, Wolf Springs in it. It's been on my list of wants and then I prowled the website and saw the pre order for the AUTO & HADDA HAVE!!! even after just having the pleasure of being able to purchase the Hinderer Elkipse swedged spear point Magnacut blade that just dropped on DLT Trading last week!!! I have no spending money until the beginning of next month. But, I have 2 of my gotta haves!!!
This is definitely a Great knife , for a Great value. Anytime you can get 20cv at that price its awesome. But if you remember when Benchmade came out with their g10 , 20cv Griptilian for $168.00 about 3 Years Ago , you couldn't touch 20cv steel for under $250.00. That was a Great knife , for a Tremendous Value , and I jump on one . That was also , in my opinion, when Benchmade turned around all their fit & finish issues. I've bought 6 or 7 BM's since then and haven't had any major issues , only sharp , drop shut blades .
MC, this is weird but I've got one of these on order two yrs. after this video. Really pumped after this video. Don't know if you'll ever get this but if you do would love to hear from you. Thanks
It’s like sampling music already we’ll know but you want to use that music on new music all you have to do is make it a little different hints shirogorov or Ganzo G Lock. But better yet the exclusivity paten had exhausted statue of limitations so pretty much any knife co can use this lock. This is my understanding
FYI, the Warranty Statement has been changed to the following: “Houge Knives are precision instruments manufactured and assembled to exacting tolerances by Houge technicians. Aftermarket disassembly and reassembly is at your own risk. Problems found to be caused by improper disassembly, assembly or modofications are not covered under warranty and may be assessed with additional fees for service or repair."
patents are for 20 years ! not forever ! ganzo calls it the G lock and their springs do not break like benchmade's axis lock springs ( every benchmade I have the springs have broken ) ! my crooked river mini was delivered with a broken spring !
Although I really like this well-made knife, it does have one flaw: the pocket clip screws are not recessed (eg, like Civivi). So they fray my jeans pocket. This would be a nice touch, so why?
Buying this isn't even a question, for me. It is simply a matter of availability. Knifeworks is out of stock. I check their site several times a day. I have many BM's (love the Axis lock) but stopped buying them for conflict of ideology. The idea that a similar tool can be had from someone I would be proud to support it a win/win. Now if they would just get some in stock!!!! (not the mini, not the orange, THIS one)
@@metal_complex The Egyptians cooperated with the Jews until a Pharoe arose who had no regard for Joseph, who was second in command of the entire empire--the Jews became slaves until another Jew named Moses was given a commission to lead the Jewish nation from enslavement to freedom. He did this exactly thus--the God of the Jews prevailed over the dieties of the Egyptians. The Jews had been there for 430 years.
I love this knife, but it opens too easily. I left it in my pocket, put it in the wash and it came open and sliced and diced my entire load! Won't make that mistake again... ha ha.
