Doug Stanhope is one of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die. A hybrid of Tom Waits, Bill Hicks, and other higher level conscientiousness's. All rolled within a smoking, rolling, screaming machine that is only calling to the sleeper within all of us, to waken.
'When i go on stage it's like i'm leading you into battle. You're not all gonna be here at the end'. My favorite comedian by far. He doesn't hold back anything.
If even 1% of the religious truly believed in an afterlife paradise, phenomena like Heaven's gate and ISIS would be common. Similarly if they believed in hell like they believed the sun will rise in the morning you'd have millions upon millions living in relentless existential terror. America would be nothing, nothing, like the way it is.
Same, the only person I’d put above him is Carlin, bill burr is up there too, close to, if not tied, any way you slice it, those are my top 3 Edit: also, an amazing underrated comedian is Chris porter, ugly and angry has to be one of my favorite specials ever.
When it comes to having a different angle and smart insights there's no one on Doug's level. I mean, only really bad comedians can't make you laugh, I got a laugh out of fat Bobby Kelly today but Stanhope's reasoning is on a level all of its own.
@@giusepperesponte8077Carlin is a great guy to group in there. I’d put Burr in there too. There’s so many other great comics but those guys seem to have a similar wavelength. That Chris Porter special was great for sure.
I'm inclined to say Doug is underrated but he really couldn't be as great as he is and crawl anywhere beyond the margins of our society ... either way, he's one of the greats
I never heard of this guy. Then he just popped up on RU-vid and now I can't stop watching his videos, which, by the way, all an hour long. There is no such thing as taboo for him. THANK GOD!!!
I like the testimonial, and with that said I'm wondering if he has an audiobook narrated by him by now. But if not, I'm still buying the actual book👍 👍🖐️plus my like and reply hopefully bumps your comment up some😁
This is Not Fame is brilliant as well. I'm sure everyone's already aware of what a genius Doug is but it has some practical shit like how you can smoke in rental cars and get away with it. Shit like that.
Digging up Mother was voiced by him in the audiobook (pretty sure), plus he adds so much more content because he deviates from the book with side stories
72 'dislikes'!?!? Who accidentally clicks on a Doug Stanhope video? This is his best recording! Absolutely fucking genius. Anyone who doesn't like this is taking up too much space. And oxygen.
-Mommy, will God send fire ants for me some day? -Only if you're good, only if you're good and you pray everyday then Jesus sends the bugs for you, goodnight!
I realized just now, hes squidward if squidward had started drinking. Creative, cynical, self aware, lazy but also very motivated, kind but also blunt, says things how they are and not what people want them to be. Hates doing things would rather stay home, but also for some reason always finds a way to get himself into crazy adventures even if he doesn't think he wants too
im supposed to be at work, they gave us a half an hour of 'wellbeing time' for our mental health, so i've decided to use it productively, and go watch a load of Doug Stanhope for 30 minutes! I'm sure that's exactly what they had in mind!
Late to the party: several weeks ago I inadvertantly stumbled upon this incredibly rare genius, this amazing comedy anomaly, and I immediately found myself consumed by regret & disappointment - I'm horribly embarrassed I didn't discover Mr. Stanhope's phenomenal performances much sooner than early 2019. When I think about the dozens of hours wasted watching/listening to droves of talentless, sanitized hacks pillaging what's left of the once-sacred comedy stage, I want to scream toward the heavens to reclaim the time I pissed away on "comedians" who couldn't come close to being an infected ingrown hair on raw, edgy, brave comedy gods like Carlin, Pryor, Williams, Hicks, Burr, Geraldo, and now - for me - most certainly, Doug Stanhope. Catching a Stanhope show in-person has just shot to the top of my very lean bucket list.
Zacarias Blanco i guarantee you that it was a spelling mistake or he doesn't know the distinction, instead of some part of a larger plot to erode society's definition of acceptable discourse. i mean yeah fuck political correctness but if your victim complex about it is so strong that you write a paragraph about some internet stranger saying "come" instead of "cum" because you perceive it as some slight against your freedom of speech, then ur probably taking things too seriously. that being said i just wrote a paragraph too, fuck
Doug speaks the truth on so many levels, far and away the best comedian out there today!! but he may have missed another word - COWARD AND HERO are the 2 most worn out used up words in the English language, just because your shot doesn't make you a hero, just like running at the sound of gunfire doesn't make you a Coward.
The evolution of MADD is pretty fascinating - the lady who created it got forced out of her own organization because she wasn't neo-Prohibitionist enough...
Isn't it amazing that that group can even exist? Why are a group of women who got fucked and got impregnated or adopted a kid are all of a sudden against 1 thing inparticular? It couldn't be because they're trying to overcompensate for the fact that they are so depressed with their own lives that they have to adopt some other cause that they really don't do anything for other than say "I'm against this". Wow it's really tough to be against things in life. Why didn't I think of that a long time ago.
“Life is like Animal Porn,.... it’s not for everybody”.... wow,.... I wholeheartedly believe that although life may not be wonderful all the time it has the potential to be for some time and that’s worth living for. But what a line , cracked me up from here to the moon,... absolutely brilliant....
I appreciate his astute observations , even more the no holds barred . Brutal honesty ! Plus he's paid his dues . A real person ,his mom's stories prove it . Providing it wasn't apparent previously . Saw early clip late 90's w/ mullet . Young pup then. Good People
He's talked openly about it more than once. I kinda feel the same. I don't want to die a slow death or suffer if it comes to that, it's on the table. Can't fault that.
:-) Hee hee! :-) The "smiley" upsets you, because you take that awful depressant, called alcohol, and all signed of happiness are anathema (look it up) to a booze-sui-cider like you. So you try to discredit all positivity :-)
Legendary standup set. Just his ability to go from recognizing the guy who gave him the drink to remembering the email contents to finding out the guy got back with her than riffing for a minute then segwaying back into material is insane.
"Coward is the most misused word in society right now". Ironically, after couple of decades "hero" became the most misused word. He is definitely one of my top 5 favorite standup comedians.
Maximum age for the president or leader of a country should be between 54 and 58 somewhere. People older than that are out of touch know-it-all's in 99.9% of the cases who refuses to learn new stuff, change their mind or opinions no matter what and doesnt listen to reason or listen to anyone younger than themselves because of their childish egotistical "im older so im automatically right and smarter than you" Minimum age should be 28.
@@montanan832 trump is 70 something and on point. The obly president ive seen call out media and government. Dude is a badass and they hated him for calling people on thier bullshit. So they harrassed him for 4 years and then cried when he told people to fight for thier rights and thier country.
What he said about high school is too true... There's no serious consequences and the highs you'll feel as a teenager will be the best highs of your life. Adderall and weed got me through those years perfectly.
We were all second hand smokers when dad was driving in the winter. SHS kept us kids all cool and collected, maybe not but it didn't hurt morale on long trips.
"ever drink so much your liver hurts to the touch?" yes, yes I have. fantasize about having someone scrape the scar tissue off the ol' organ drinking to stave off withdrawal right now
Mitch Hedberg was pretty good as well.Lenny Bruce was a wild card and helped start being able to say what's on most normal level peoples mind but at that time ,they were to uptight. Now to P.C.
Stanhope is by far the goat, Patrice may have gotten better if he didn't die, but Patrice's stand up doesn't compare to Stanhope, Patrice was best at being in the moment on o&a, no one was quicker on the spot like Patrice
He's been the favorite of other stand-ups for a good while now. STILL my favorite - Anthony Jeselnek is brilliant - of course Steven Wright, unique well thought out short and twisted, like Emo Phillips...that Daniel Tosh can just KILL non-stop...Dave Chappelle is one of a kind funny as hell.... Louis CK, Chris Rock, Bill Burr, - there's a LOT of good talent out there like Dave Atell and Lewis Black not to mention the ones who've died the last few years - but to me Doug is the total package. I've never heard him do anything LESS than hilarious - From his young long haired days til today he's been the guy other comics envied
Just a few more Pablo Franscisco , Lee Evans ,Russel Peters, Derek & Clive, Ricky Gervais, Jerry Sienfield , Jimmy Carr , Jim Carry , Jim Gaffagan, Kat Williams, Frankie Boyle, Robin Williams , Jack Dee, Jim Davidson, Victoria Woods , Brian Regan.
Stone Cold Stipe I'm from Holland dude but what I hear about your school systems in combination with this (gun)crazy culture you seem to have, im surprised it doesn't happen on a weekly basis. NRA-lobby should push for open-carry in highschools
