Douglas A1-E Skyraider Flight at Worcester Airport ( Collings Foundation Wings Of Freedom Tour ) September 22nd 2018 in Memory of my cousin SP4 Michael R Blanchette, ( US Army ), killed in Vietnam walking point ahead of his squad, he was 19 yrs old. Mike's slack man, PFC Timothy M Springer was killed three days later taking Mike's position as point man, he was 22 yrs old! I had the honor of flying seated in the co-pilot seat to honor both Mike and Timothy and all who served and for those who ( Gave All ) in Vietnam! Thank You for your Service!

This is what my dad flew in SE Asia; based in Thailand, fought in Vietnam and gasp- the secret war- Laos. He was a jet fighter pilot prior to volunteering for this package; he LOVED it. He's still around at 93....and this airplane SAVED his life many times over with it's ruggedness. He got shot up alot because he provided close air support to troops and rescue missions for pilots shot down, providing cover for Jolly Greens. The 1st. SOS, at NKP.

I noticed the altimeter was showing 1000ft when you landed......Is that the height the airfield is above sea level??

Imagine sitting in this box full of bombs and being sent over a precision flak that is in Vietnam. This aircraft was already obsolete by the time of the Korean War. And then one clever US admiral remembered to put them in CVW 16. That slow box in the jet age? He sent his pilots to the slaughterhouse and lost an entire unit. 20 pilots dead and 9 wounded.

Bogus, the A1E is a single seater, Navy designated AD6. The side by side version is Navy AD5.

I am bothered by the fact that pilot spent a LOT of time looking down and port, at his watch, at the panel, and almost NO time eyes up and eyes front or anyplace else??? ( In Coeur d Alene, two floatplanes recently had an air-air head on that killed 8 people.

I Liked & Subscribed 👍😎 RIP and bless all the service men & women past & present 🙏Flying in this Skyraider is got to be very high on my flight list and thank you so much to the Collings Foundation for all that you do for allowing people to take part in flying in these historic aircraft 😎👍

I kept yelling, rotate the camera down during the whole video. Cool video but we couldn't see very much in the cockpit to get any kind of perspective. Love the sound of the Wright radial, sweet. Thanks for posting.

Sorry, my first time using the GoPro camera and I didn't have a smartphone back then, I did tilt my head later in my flight, I now own a smartphone!

A1-E was a three crew version, this aircraft has 4 seats in back of aircraft, I was in co-pilot seat!

There were two versions. One had the bubble canopy and the other had side by side seats with 4 additional seats in the greenhouse behind the cockpit. Both were crewed by a single pilot. I flew HH-3 Jolly Greens in Vietnam and the A-1s were our escort.

The A-1 H is the single seater - I flew in the E model at Addison last Sep. As an Air Traffic Controller at NKP 50 years ago , we had both variations of probably my favorite aircraft from the Vietnam era

Single seat or not, a Skraider was never considered "a fighter" What does "A" stand for? ATTACK!!

Got over 900 hours flying rightseat in EA1F's with VAW-13 back in 1966-67 off Yankee Station . Cant hear much at 400 cycles due to the AC generators LOL. Go to www.vaw-13.com ,my squadron web page . FAT SPADS FOREVER !!
