The Hamilton Award Dinner is a special night in the life of the Institute. It provides us with an opportunity to honor deserving individuals who embody the mission of the Manhattan Institute-advancing opportunity, individual liberty, and the rule of law in America and its great cities.
This year we were delighted to honor Douglas Murray (‪@douglasmurray‬) his unwavering defense of Western values, and Ross Perot Jr., for representing the best of civic engagement in Dallas and throughout Texas.
Douglas Murray: "I want to dedicate [this award] to the people of Israel of all ages, who, in the face of absolute death cults-in the face of people who most people in this country have no idea of, can't imagine what these people are capable of-I want to dedicate my acceptance of this award to the people of Israel, who, in the face of death, choose life. Isaiah said that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. People who don’t admit this, believe that peace with terrorists is possible. They can’t fathom that there are very evil people with a completely different set of values, to whom violence is desirable and peace is anathema. It is only when humans acknowledge God, and His standards, on some level, that man will choose life and blessing. Some do this while claiming to be atheists, so they have no foundational basis for doing good, but by doing good, they are living in a way that acknowledges a standard of right and wrong, good and evil, outside themselves. Interestingly, even by using a 7-day week, people are acknowledging God’s order, established at creation.

I was on alert in Oct 1973 with the 82nd Airborne for Israel! I had volunteered for the Army. I was messed up. My high school counselor Mr. Olson suggested I join the Army and grow up. I even volunteered for Viet Nam. I grew up. Quit drugs. I Learned good work ethic. I suggest the same for the disrespectful youth today. I chose a life in the right direction. I chose life. Not death. God is Good. My 1st weekend at Ft Bragg going to DC and standing on the streets during the VN Protests! Wow. Wake up call for me. I am voting Trump. I love my country still.

Why aren't the University and colleges educators turning out students as smart and analytical and as thoughtful and as eloquent using vocabularies that you would expect from such institutions. You meet all of the above requirements of a refined gentlemen who seems like you got a good education and made good use of your education. You have gone the extra mile to find out things first hand as a journalist. Thank you I love you!
