Officially this is just Douwe Bob's stage name. His full name is: Douwe Bob Posthuma (born in Amsterdam on December 12, 1992). He is a Dutch singer-songwriter and won the first edition of the talent show "The best singer-songwriter in the Netherlands" in August 2012. In 2016 he represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest, where he finished eleventh. Beste Zangers in the Netherlands means both "best singers" and also "dear singers". And since it is not a competition, but a tribute, the adequate translation in this context is: "Dear Singers"
You did a cover with Mell and Danny Vera on the Veronica Express, Tennessee Whiskey, wich had a big inpact on the wolfman I remember. Mell was in the hot seat this night, wich means it's all about her that night and Jan Smit, who is a singer himself and the presentator of this show, will ask some more personal questions about their lives and how they got where they are now in their career. The other singers sing this night a Mell song or a song dear to her. Every singer hands in a list of their own songs and their favorite songs some time before, so the others can make a choise and have time to rehearse. The singer in the hot seat doesn't know what song the others have chosen, so it's a surprise. Most of these singers are their own song writers, so when someone else sing their song for them it's often very emotional. It's not a competition, at the end of the show Jan will ask the one in the hot seat, what song touched them the most. So that's the concept of the show. The singers are not allowed to bring their manager or partners or relatives, so they can focus on eachother, with the intention that those 7 singers are getting to know each other better and bond. And so everyone of those 7 singers have their night in the hot seat. Show 8 they do duets together. I think it's a brilliant concept and a success in the Netherlands for many years now. Originally the concept of the program was to seek a replacement singer for yourselves (the one on the hotseat) when you fell ill. Beste Zangers in Dutch also means 'Dear Singer....?' like you would start a letter to your colleague asking for replacement. The show evolved through the years to what it is now without the contest element of choosing the Beste zanger to replace you. instead they choose the one whom impacted them the most.
Douwe Bob has such a great voice! That raspy, husky voice is so nice. I'm a real fan of Bob, with a heart of gold. The father of Douwe Bob, Simon Douwe Posthuma, and his earlier wife Marijke, were artists, famous for arranging the clothing and decor for the All You Need is Love performance by the Beatles in 1967. In 1972 they had a small hit (I See You) produced by Booker T. Jones. I noticed the Van Buren shirt of SueSue, a typical Dutch name. Buren is a little town in Netherlands, and one of the titels of the Dutch king is Graaf van Buren (Count of Buren).
This season, now have been 3 episodes so far and all 3 were amazing and very good! Maybe this season is going to better then 2019, where Floor Jansen and Henk Poort were there
