DOVER ENGLAND UK CRUISE PORT - WHAT, HOW & TRAIN TO CANTERBURY 

It is lovely to see this video of Canterbury. I grew up in Dover and we went to Canterbury for better shopping, but all I can remember of those days was those narrow streets choked up with cars. I live the other side of the country now, but I think I will make a pilgrimage "home" now to see the improvements for myself.

You missed out on so much in Dover. It would have been worth your while going into Dover castle despite the crowds. The WW2 tunnels where the Dunkirk evacuation was planned and controlled, the finest Norman keep in the country, the Roman lighthouse, the Saxon Church and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Then in the town itself, you stood close to Dover museum, worth a visit in itself plus the Bronze Age Boat Gallery, the world oldest seagoing boat ever discovered. A short walk away is the Roman Painted House, a bit further away the Maison Dieu, a 900 year old former pilgrims rest and now Town Hall. You could also have visited The Curve, had a seafront walk, visit the White Cliffs area of natural beauty. Glad you enjoyed Canterbury but you did miss out on so much in Dover.

Canterbury Cathedral is one of the most awesome places I've ever visited. It is as you say, humungous - it's mind blowing how enormous it is, how beautiful, and HOW OLD! How did they do that? Before powered lifting gear etc it's hard to believe. I'm English and glad that you saw one of our best places and enjoyed it on a sunny day - there are countless more beautiful spots, but few as impressive as the Cathedral. Great video - you really captured the essence of an English summer day in a beautiful historic town.

How long a walk is it from the rail station in Dover to the center of Dover? How long a walk is it from the center of Dover to the cruise port? Is there any public transportation from the train station to either destination? Thanks in advance.

wow! fantastic presentation. Your presentation is different because u give it from an experienced tourist perspective. I am going to England next month (March) for 2 weeks (from Florida). Because of your perspective, I will be spending more time in Canterbury than Dover. My Hotel is in London and I have rented an electric car for my 2-week stay so I will be driving. Imagine driving, being from the USA
