The Dover & Rockaway River Railroad, part of the Belvidere & Delaware/Black River & Western system, was formed in 2017 to operate on three branch lines owned by Morris County in Northern New Jersey, the Chester, High Bridge and Dover & Rockaway Branches, which were formerly M&E operated, with an interchange point with NS at Lake Junction in Wharton. The D&RR uses a couple BDRV owned EMD switchers for their work, with two assigned to the Chester/High Bridge runs, and one for the D&R side, and I've been told the customers are very happy with their service so far. I have a friend who conducts for them and decided to pay them a visit to see them in action.
Friday, February 9, 2018 was the day, I was told the DO-2 job would be working the Chester Branch that day, bringing three cars out of Kuiken Brothers Lumber in Succusunna to the NS interchange and coming back light, after which the crew would drive over to the D&R branch to operate DO-1. DO-2 is seen shoving across busy Route 10 with BDRV SW1500 1567, an ex NS/Southern unit, before running around the consist, taking it out to the interchange and returning lite as promised..
Then it was over to the D&R Branch, where DO-1 is seen crossing the Rockaway River in Rockaway before making their way through Downtown Dover towards the NS interchange, their power of choice being Black River & Western SW900 915, formerly owned by the Winchester & Western.
Included at the end is NS H02, the daily Dover local returning from Washington Yard with a few cars from there and the two off DO-1 for the yard, powered by GP38-2 5637 and GP40-2 3010, the dedicated Dover engine of choice.
Thanks for watching!
