I've been back at the cabin the past while, working solo on the gable ends. It has been really nice in the woods watching Spring come, the trees change and the days get longer. I've tapped a few Maple Trees around the cabin and boil down some sap as I work. The rear gable end is now nearing completion and I will continue working on the front one over the coming week. I am really happy with how the cabin is coming along and looking forward to the spring weather to keep making progress.

For me, the ideas in ru-vid.comUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

Good work! Any plans on insulating the roof?
@PenniacWilderness
@PenniacWilderness 4 года назад
Yes, I plan to insulate on top of the roof boards, and then strap the roof, then metal roofing. What are you thinking for your roof?? Very curious to hear your plans.
@stedebonnet1340
@stedebonnet1340 4 года назад
@@PenniacWilderness A proper roof in cold climate is quite a design challenge. Make sure you put a vapor barrier immediately behind the interior "finish" surface. And also make sure you provide for ventilation in the insulation cavities. Otherwise, you'll get moisture built up in the cavities which would create mold and rot. Also you dont want the exterior of your metal roofing to be any warmer than the ambient air temp or else you could get ice damming at the eves which would result in water leaking thru the seams in the roofing.

I hope I understand your question - if not please let me know. In Canada a lot of the land is owned by private citizens so you can build on the land you own. A log of people in rural areas will build a cabin either to live in or to spend some time on. This cabin is located on property my family owns in the east of Canada. Please let me know if I answered correctly.
