I don't get why people hate on bands like this one. Sure a lot of metalcore bands nowadays don't play the most technical music and tend to have simplistic riffs, but not every song has to be full of shredding and solos. Believe it or not there are people who prefer much more simplistic styles of music. I know I do cuz I feel it's easier to get down to the groove of the song. All those shred type bands are boring to me, but that's why there's so many different types of music. Point is simplistic music doesn't always mean bad music or "talentless".

Ive been playing guitar and this kind of music for a long time. This song isnt as simple as you all are saying. Everyone just thinks that because Periphery just released a new album and they have (arguably) the best three guitarists in the "scene" or whatever. But I like the riff in the chorus. Bands like this are the bane of my existence. It astounds me how this excuse for subpar musicianship is able to have such a broad audience, whether it be fans or people just strolling byand watching out of curiosity such as myself. First impressions matter most, I would assume that being on am established record label such as Sumerian would mean that you entail a certain amount of musical talent with yourself. This is beginner-core.

People complaining about the simplicity should try playing the opening riff cleanly like them. I saw a video Joey Sturgis did of a great guitarist trying to play it, but it just sounded like crap

It's actually catchy, but it makes me cringe when I see someone play breakdown with alternate picking.

Sumerian Records, you pulled an M. Night Shyamalan on me. You labeled this as a guitar play through, but there was a twist. It was in fact a guitar play through, the twist being that it was totally unnecessary. However, not to be a giant douche ... music is competitive, but it's not all about showboating. God knows we've all seen a million "look what I can do" videos. Yet, when I click on a Guitar Play Through, I expect more fretting and less bullshit. I'm sure this kid could probably do some shredding, but I've heard nickelback songs with more appeal for a Play Through video.

Sure, its not the most technically inspiring playing, I'll admit that, but it had a good groove going. I do agree the 0-0--0-0--0--0 chugging these days gets old but still it wasn't bad. Even the solo at the end was decent.

Just cus they aren't chugging constantly and playing in a deep tune doesn't make it bad. If its simple and sounds good, its good. Duh
