Down4Sound's latest amp, the monoblock JP8 has arrived! This amp is finished in amazing medium blue anodized aluminum with a clear acrylic bottom panel. Amp is rated at 14.4V to deliver:

When I first started messing with car stereo 20 years ago, you could only really trust the name brands for best results. My system was ALL pioneer and I had the most BUMP in the high school parking lot. Man have the times changed, so many smaller unknown brands making quality gear now!

Same. I had 3-12"JL-W6s in a Nissan 300zx with a 1500w precision power amp that was like 3 ft long(maybe 2.5ft)That was still by far the hardest hitting system I've had. I'm 42 and it was Kicker, Orion, Alpine, Kenwood. Pioneer etc.... If someone had a "Down4sound" and "American bass subs." Back then I'd probably laugh. Not anymore.. I Just found a nice 500.1 kenwood amp with a kicker comp R in a kicker box at a pawn shop so I bought it and its decent but it brought back the basshead in me so now I'm doing research and I've found that while those are still good, they aren't the way to go now. It's D4S, Audiopipe, Deaf bonce, American Bass, Sundown etc and the price points are WAY better now

I have one, a 4 channel. Dates back to 1996-1998 if I'm recalling correctly. Those Jensens, and this amp in the video have a very similar shaped heatsinks to the big dog USAmps of the time

This amp is really beautiful in person. Camera and video does it no justice. This amp made me realize my set up didn't have great signal going to my amp. After fixing everything this amp pushes my sundown Sa v2 10 nicely. D4s has great customer service helping me out when my bass knob wasn't reading temp. I am really happy with everything.

@@murrayshekelberg9754 no reliability issues at all, you can check the temperature of the amp from the bass remote. Haven’t ever seen it over 110° even on hot days and either the fan is very quiet or it doesn’t need to kick on because I’ve never heard it. If I had one thig I don’t like it would be how bright the bass remote is, pretty sure bigD mentioned that in the video.

@@charlieknoll1269 hmm that amp putting out 2800 rms sounds VERY suspect... You even said it has "4 40 amp fuses" so more than likely it's only good for around 1600 rms. You do the math... 4 times 40= ?? That usually puts you in the right ballpark of your amps rms output within 10% or so.

@@charlieknoll1269 if you consider that Blaupunkt "unfathomable" you might wanna check out the Sundown SFB-1000D you can get it for $151.99 it will put you around your 1200 rms @1 ohm. And I don't think I'm the only one who'd rather pay $40 for a Sundown (even if it is the sfb) to have the same power as the Blaupunkt.

Amp Efficiency is a two edge sword! The lower the switching frequency the more efficient the amp will be, but with low switching frequency comes lowered sound quality and dampening.

Just put mine in the car. Pushing 3 mojo 6.5 subs ,hit a 140.7. Gained 1 spl compared to the previous pioneer 8601 amp.

The best cheaper amp under $200 that I have “EVER” purchased. My favorite amp will always be my JL Audio Slash 500/1 for it’s the most reliable “TRUE” power on a JL 10W3v3-2 and it seems as loud as the JP8 on a Skar 10” DDX DVC2 sub. I tried both subs in the factory Skar ported rhino coated box!#🔊❤️

@@wal I see a lot of complaints about overseas manufacturering, but I think in reality the auto manufacturers killed off American made car audio than anything. Back in the days we could slap any old din or dual din receiver in the dash and the sky was the limit. Now days cars are super vehicle specific and it takes a lot more custom work to get a stereo in your new ride. Cheap manufacturing definitely has a lot to do with it now, but let's face it, the car stereo world isn't as broad as it once was

Just wanted to add my opinion but the bass knob being plastic is actually better than it being metal. I used to run a 5 channel audio control amp with built in DSP. Costs me 1500 bucks Canadian and the remote port died because I have soft cloth seats in my Kia Spectra and one day I generated a bunch of static and my knee bumped the knob I mounted to my center console and boom no more knob. So imo being made of plastic is actually better for reliability.

Just ordered a k9 12. Thinking about the jp8 to power it. I know everyone hates on the k9. But I appreciate your truly unbiased opinion on it. I got into it with dudeman from EMF. He says they have a better sub for 120$ I'm eventually going to get it also and do a head to head video.

The Soundqubed s-1250 I was using crapped out on me today. I was thinking about the Orion XTR 1500.1 to replace it but I remembered how awesome this D4S amp looks and how great it performed in this dyno test....AND that sick AF bass knob... Sold! I'd say all DC fans used in electronics are brushless. Don't think I've ever seen one with a brushed motor. But not giving it credit for that feature, it's really good that it has a fan. That will keep the inductors (coils) and other components on the board cool. Overall it seems like a well built amp so thumbs up from me. 👍

nice dyno of this amp! exacly what i wanted, went out and bought one yesterday, will be running it at 2 ohms for 750 rms memhis mojo pro 12 , played in the 90,s with soundstream back when they were real! this amp is blue also, maybee thats why i bought it?! lol...love ur channel!

Last JP amp, the bass knob and dyno voltages showed a different number. I questioned why and which was wrong but got no reply. Now You hide the voltage of the bass knob on this one 🤔

Most bass knobs with voltage displays are ALWAYS off a little bit, my salt knob is .5v off.. not a big deal for anyone who uses a good volt meter. But the new knobs coming out are adjustable so they can be set correctly.

I noticed that too Its does seem a little suspect that the voltage on the knob was blocked since this time the amp was given to him by D4S. Big D always seems to be straight up so ill give him time some time to respond to this before making somthing out of it

I only hid it because the blue light messed up the image on my camera. It’s about 0.3 higher than Dyno voltage

@@RU-vidsucks.. .5 volts off I bet you start getting a fluttery should I turn it down when it dip I’ve got stock alt so I really have to watch my voltage altho it did kick off once I seen 9 and then it said lo and I had to restart everything but it went in protect that’s the easy part .... the most important part is it came out of protect

Hifivega they have to be brighter than the sun so we can see them at the shows and meets and what not lol 😂 I think 🤔 he was a tad overzealous with it but I love it my first 2k plus amp and it’s got a sick bass knob

Question big d?! The fuse rating is 120 on this amp per there website how is it your test was drawing 170-180 on the 1 ohm test? Do I need a bigger fuse than recommended?

I hope other manufacturers (uh, hmm PPI) are noticing the non-generic heatsink. Even though it's a flat out copy of a US Amps design, it looks soooo much better than just a hunk of boring aluminum. Bring back creativity!

I think I would rather just get a JP23 and run at 1ohm than pay for that half ohm warranty on a JP8. I suppose each situation is different.

It's not all that similar besides being blue. Look at the cap layout and input areas. Completely different. No daughterboards on the JP8.
