As far as Down being well known or not, every band has their fanbase. Just because they're not "Metallica" big doesn't mean their not known. The average "metalhead" you talk to at the bar doesn't really know anything outside Maiden, Priest, Big 4, and Pantera. People claim to be metalheads but if you bring up even a legendary band like Exodus for example, they look at you like they've never heard of them... Down is much more than just a metal band anyway. Their wide range of influence isn't going to please every metalhead.

I didn't listen to that Pantera wannabe band after Pantera (DamagePlan). Completely agree. Pantera is my favorite band of all time, and Phil is my favorite front man in metal. I love Down, Superjoint, Scour and The Illegals. The dude just has the goods.
