Awesome as always, my wife asked me, now why can't you do things like he does? My answer to her, as soon as you let me get the things I need, Rome wasn't built with stone knives and bearskins.

😀 Don't feel bad, my wife wants me to build some even more detailed projects, and I have to remind her that I'm slowly getting there.

Every project requires a new tool. Doesn't mean it has to be used on that project. :)

Great video and I just subscribed. I've already watched a few of your videos on shop projects and thought you radial arm saw, mobile station was almost exactly what I needed to build myself. You made it look so easy. I'm actually going to adapt your mobile saw stand to fit my dad's older radial arm saw. We'll see how that goes. Cheers!

i made that sanding station and the first time i used it, the red rubber spray rubbed off into the wood every time.. So i had to flip the peg board over.. other than the red stuff getting onto my wood, it worked great.

Sorry to hear that, I'm not sure why, but glad you worked it out.

Hot glue is as versatile as duct tape, and just anidea the collection pipe should pick up more if it's centered in the box with ramps leading to it.

made the same thing years ago. get rid of the pipe on the inside of the box. (waste of time) and use non slip waffle toll box drawer liner or non slip waffle shelf liner (or even a router mat) on the top to help hold and protect the item your sanding and get some cheap rubber stick on feet for the bottom and you'll be happy. i have mine hooked up to my 4in. dust system. only difference is i centered my vac hose and did 2 ramps on the inside of the box. also when sanding small things cover the unused holes with card board or even old new paper to help increase the sucking power of the sanding area.

Watched a couple other builds of a downdraft table, and you are the fist one to address my concerns of the pegboard support. I won't be sanding balsa wood. I also love the idea of the nonslip surface. Why wouldn't you use a carriage bolt for attacking the PVC end cap inside the box? Would a smaller PVC pipe work better? Have you adjusted or decreased the amount of ports with tape since the build? Love your version the best. I appreciate the Stars and Stripes hanging on the door; but with all due respect, the flag is displayed incorrectly, the blue field hangs on the left when hanging vertically against a surface.

3:46 WOAHHHHH there bro!!! It looks like the board went a little skewed when it went over the blade. Try using the fence to keep it straight. If the board gets stuck, it can shoot back at you resulting in you getting injured. Also in the future, you will want to get a riving knife and blade guards to keep yourself safe. The table saw is probably the most dangerous tool on the job site. In the far future when you’re looking for a new table saw I would recommend a Saw Stop. It has features in it making it almost impossible to cut your finger off with it. Stay safe!! Great video!!

You have some great points. The table saw is an old one and I am trying to make some upgrades. I will eventually buy another one in the future.

Why did you use the 4" connector and then go to a reducer as opposed to just using the 2 1/2 inch from the start? Thanks!

I was hoping to spread out the holes over a broader area to be more effective. I'm not sure if it was productive, but I hope it was.

Very cool idea and I'm sure that really is nice in your shop to keep the dust down! Our son picked up on your comment of, "Putting some feet on it to keep it from walking around". :)

I just built one with a simple hole in the bottom which goes over my router table opening using that for my dust port. A little rubber foam around the plate on the bottom of the box seals everything as well as provides traction. Time will tell if sanding there becomes a nuisance but my table is built into my workbench and the only location thats preferable would be outside. So far I love it, one less hose to move around.

Just what I was looking for for my bench sander. But the internal pipe? What benefit does that make?

Like that plasti-dip idea. great idea...I'm making a built-in to my outfeed table.. All I'll have to do is reverse the removable top I'm making with the plasti-dip on it when I have some sanding to do...

Question - if you built another one would you change the hole pattern on the pipe?

Good stuff, and the part about the sides is a good idea. Cardboard should do it. Plus you can fold it up and store it next to the box.

Specific Love Creations I can only imagine how long it must take to plan, film, edit and narrate the whole process. It's all looking good, though. Are you learning a lot of great new skills as you go along, or have you been a builder (other than your pvc creations) for quite a while? While we understand that it's slowing you down, we do appreciate your sharing it all with us, Phillip. (Also, I think I'm running out of names to call you. Will we ever get a name from you?)

Interesting results. I like the idea, but am wondering how to make it so it would work better with the belt sander and mitre saw.
@SpecificLove7
@SpecificLove7 6 лет назад
I think the holes might need to be a little bigger and the vacuum more powerful.
@daxgaz
@daxgaz 6 лет назад
The miter saw already has a connection for a direct vacuum attachment. For the belt sander, I would think placing the box diagonal, so dust must roll down it would help quite a bit.

Dax Gazaway My mitre saw is on a flip top and scroll saw, sander, and other tools I might use this for are mobile. Something like this would be great for me if it worked better.
