Great video! That landing at the private strip was heart-stopping. Glad you and the plane were both intact. Thanks for sharing your experience! 👏

Another good video, One lesson an old moutian pilot told me while mid way through my PPL in New Zealand was not to fly up a valley you havnt flow down. Seems to have worked OK for me 20 years on.

Very cool scenery. We all have a landing we regard as our worst. I have a few, mostly in the mountains.

What a great video! I landed a 150 once at PBIA, and stopped on the threshold, freaked ATC out. They couldn’t believe i was down and asking for ground.

Excellent video. When you said that was your worst landing, I wasn't expecting you to go into someone's yard. Appreciate your humility to share that so others can learn.

Full flaps with extreme or gusty winds kinda throws out the window what most Pilots were taught, just throwing that out their. I sure enjoy your channel

Thank you for your content. It is very valuable and well detailed. Your experience shows in the flying examples and the accompanying instruction and analysis. Impressive flying. I plan ahead so I do not risk flying in potentially moderate or difficult conditions; however, I study everyone I can to be more than prepared if I unexpectedly encounter a moderate or difficult of any nature so that I handle that situation with knowledge, skill, confidence and courage. I really enjoy your channel. Thank you for your efforts and for giving back to the flying community. May God bless you richly in the days ahead.

Study is good, but I would highly recommend going with an instructor and practicing in challenging conditions, just like spin training.

@@pfsantos007 Yes. Awareness and keen understanding is only a good base. Only practice and hands on training with repetition can make one truly ready and able to perform in a real crisis situation. Very true Paul. Thanks again for your great content and insights.

When you fly in Costa Rica i guess when you fly down there it must take a few days.

When I was working on my PPL I thought Larry’s videos were cool. Now that I have over 500 hours in Cessna 172’s and 182’s, these are typical short field and soft field landings. Nothing special. Larry landed on a dirt field in Idaho in a prior video and stated he landed in 800 feet in his 182. It’s a typical short field landing. I took my 182 and duplicated his speed and decent on a hard surface with power off and full flaps. I was stopped in 600 ft. Not a scientific comparison, but I don’t think it’s anything special for a rated pilot. I love the mission and the content, but I feel any private pilot with a little experience can do the same thing if they wanted to take the risk of flying into a rapid decent short runway situation at a back woods airports where rapid recents and short runway are not really required. Example: “Larry” I’m coming in over this mountain side to land on this 3000 foot runway in the river wash at the bottom of a steep hill. My Take: it’s a 3000 foot runway. I don’t care where it is, I can land on it. Im good bro, I don’t need the “there is a slight cross wind and there are trees along the approach”. Every pilot practices that from day 1. Child’s play. In fact, if the opportunity arrises, I’d like to have a fly off with Larry. I don’t think he is any better than most pilots I see every day Flying in Southern California. If Larry is willing to put up $3000, I’d be willingly to put $3000 to see who make the best landing on Catalina Airport in LA. We may be able to do a beach landing at Two Harbors? We can surely do multiple short and soft field landings at Avalon.
