Mustafa was such a sweet kid 💖 it's so sad he always saw his mother crying, especially when they are things she has done to herself. He just wanted to make his mother happy, nothing else 💖
@amworld2278 she honestly was. She was madly in love with Suleiman and madly jealous of Hurrem. She also madly wanted Mustafa to take the throne and become Vailde. Her ambitions got the best of her in the end.
All this show shows us westerners what we already know so we'll: you simply cannot expect to have multiple women to share one man happily. Historically the situation between Hurrem and other ladies is presented wrong,- Validé seems to have been fair, Hurrem got married AFTER Valide' s death, Magi was sent away from the beginning- therefore I wonder why they decided to emphasize this suffering?? Having to share a man brings women such suffering, it may drive them insane. We knew that, we do not need a show to discover this- Mahi lost her mind then lost her child- so much suffering due to a system that is forcing such situations upon women....heartbreaking really
You are right, but In real life she wasnt so sorrowful, Suleiman had halvet with both, sometimes Hurrem sometimes Mahi, but she was respected as Mustafas mother and Suleimans first wife. The beating scene happened much later than in show, and she was then exiled and went with Mustafa to Amasya, but she was respected then as well and beloved by people so I agree with you she probably was far from pityful persona showed in the series
I personally thought this part was very entertaining and it gave an opportunity for the actors to convey emotions and memorable performances, though it may not be historically accurate it made great tv that we still talk about to this day
I'm also 'westerner' (Hungarian) but if you think about it many European rulers also kept lovers and concubines, sometimes it was even official, though they never could be wives and didn't have the same rights as the wife. Their children couldn't inherit etc. And of course , there was no problem if the Kings and Emperors had multiple lovers, but if a Queen would have done this , it would have been a very big scandal or sometimes they even could be executed.
@@ivanapervan3783After Mustafa was born, Suleiman would never have had halvet with Mahidevran again because by Ottoman law, there can only be 1 son per concubine. Hürrem broke this tradition.
@@princess7jasmine in turkish wikipedia it says that in 1525 Mahidevran had daughter Raziye, thats why I said it. here are few sources, one says she died in 1520 of smallpox with her siblings and other that she had normal life and married Taslicali efendi. Since its in turkish, I think its more thrue than the other, since there is detaled description of her
Mahidevran had never been his wife. She was his concubine. And there, in the series, she got what she deserved. Plus, she asked for this, acting as a complete fool. But there she isn't at complete loss because her son goes with her. And they were going to Manisa province. In real life, Mahi was banished to the old palace without her son right after she beated Hurrem for the first time. She had never been with her son since then and never influenced him. As for the wives, Suleyman had the only one, and it was Hurrem. Others were his concubines. Sultans never married before Suleyman. Otherwise, they had never been allowed to have harems with multiple women in them. That's why the harem was disbanded right after the marriage. The series is historically innacurate
I mean if she is mother to his child then let her have some dignity. Freeing her would seem more appropriate. Not her fault he found himself a new lover.
So, here's the problem with the mess the show makes of the actual history-Mahidevran was assured freedom regardless. All harem women were guaranteed freedom after the death of the sultan they "served". Hürrem got freed ahead of schedule to fill the power vacuum created _after_ Hafsa had died and Mahidevran had already left the capital to aid Mustafa in governing in the provinces. The real Mahidevran would never have made a plea such as this, but also was spared such indignity to begin with.
She didn’t know how to play her cards . She though by demanding and threatening the sultan she will get her way . The most powerful man in that time does not bend just like that . For them being the mother of his child is not enough . He has a harem of women he can impregnate lol . The women he loves is the one that gets the bigger chances .
@@ginacort23 The problem is that she was honestly in love with him, and in polygamy if you have real feelings you’ll end up suffering. It’s true she didn’t know how to play the game in the harem but that’s not for everyone though.
@@skeetermasoi3068then that’s her own fault. regardless of her feelings mahidevran should’ve been way smarter and cunning, but like you said, not everyone knows how to survive in such a cutthroat environment like the harem.
That coronet was hideous! That's all. Great cast of actors and actresses, beautiful jewelry and costuming, interesting sets and settings, historical accuracy off but is WAS a dramatic made-for-TV series well done.
Hürrem's crown was like the only historically accurate outfit on the show haha. Honestly, Nurbanu's crown at the end of the show looked s lot more elegant.
