At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

This is very heart breaking and obviously very discriminatory. Later in the play he after brief punishments, or just admonishment, Suleiman forgave hurrem meddling in state affairs and even hand in assassination of mustafa. He has surely gravely mishandled mahidevran.

Yeah not really he never truly loved her he was cool to her when she came to the Palace she was expecting this big warm welcome and he only gave that to Mustafa it was clear that something happened long before she came to the Palace people like to blame Alexandra but it wasn't her fault he didn't even know about her and then on the night that he arrived to his Palace he slept with Aisha

I do think it's unfair of Suleiman to summon Mahidevran for no other reason than the pressure of her mother (it's cruel to give her false hope), but I'm not about to blame him for being unable to forgive a woman that almost murdered his unborn son and, in all honesty, could've murdered _him_ as well.

Because Suleiman was sure Hurrem didn’t wanna dethrone him, he knew hurrem loved him even more than her own kids. Therefore it was easy to trust and forgive her. Also her involvement with Mustafas death was just rumors, there was no proof

She lost the bond because she poisoned hurrem while she was pregnant after she almost beat her to death for literally nothing, and sulyman said himself you poisoned us when you put the poison on my tray

Cruel Padishah should of have freed her . How cruel and unjust
@Redluna32

I mean, yes, the entire system of slavery in the Ottoman Empire was unjust, but Mahidevran, like every harem woman, would be freed upon the death of Suleiman. The only way for it happen beforehand would be to be married outside of the harem, but Mahidevran couldn't do that as a mother of an heir.

Had she asked him in the right way and played her hand right he absolutely would have freed her. It's the way she went about it that made him angry.

She would have done better to just go back to Manisa.

Mahidevran was entitled from beginning when others had to fight their way up .....she got what is right for her attitude and arrogance......and I don't blame sultan as you can't create passion.... But he treated her decently ......
@jeannerogers7085
@jeannerogers7085 Месяц назад
No he did not treat her decently. After a teenaged honeymoon in Manissa, Suleyman was smitten by a clever redhead, and dumped Mahidevran before she even came to Topkapi. She seemed almost like a small town girl, victim of the palace cutthroat harem.

@jeannerogers7085 not in the show she was on board with the sultan shouldn't be married stuff so she should have accepted hurrem, and gulfem was before mahidevran, she couldn't share was she was jealous and tried to poison, that is when and how she destroyed her own relationship with suleiman... she continued attacking amd bullying and was arrogant because she had the oldest prince, which is what got her son killed in the end too.
