Because of the line “maybe away was better”, I think that Laura was playing the original God of Death and the Raven Queen. In the cool down, Nick made mention that maybe the only way the Raven Queen could have “killed” a god was because that god allowed it. Maybe the god of death preferred oblivion to the loss of their home.

My gueses: Taliesin is the Wildmother, Nick is the Dawnfather, Laura is the Matron of Ravens, Noshir is an emissary of the Lawbearer, Ashley is the Everlight, Abubakar is either the Arch Heart or the Allhammer. The contact is the Knowing Mentor. The Betrayers are the Lord of the Hells (father Milo), the Ruiner (the big woman), the Spider Queen (halfling woman), and the Crawling King (tortle). Anyone got better/alternate guesses on any of them? Edit: @gorter23 thank you for the binary translation! Abubakar is the Arch Heart

@@willnelson9906 Yeah I absolutely think that the barbarian woman is the hardest guess considering it could just as easily be Bane or Gruumsh. I put my money on Gruumsh because Bane has been associated heavily with heavy armor and industry. Gruumsh is more associated with primal violence so it feels more fitted to a barbarian. In general though it absolutely could go both ways.

@@adoragrayskull i do agree with you. He never stops loving his siblings. Earlier, the first time i watched he professed his love towards Everlight, i thought it was as romantic, not towards sibling. But as I watched episode 2, i found that maybe he said that as a sibling to another. he still loves his siblings even after Calamity, it was just his way to show he still thinks of his siblings. In weird way 😅 being evil. But i kind of agree with him that his family abandoned him & other 'betrayer' family for the mortals. But im NOT with him about killing others to get the attention of your family. That is a NO. Overall i like and hate him at the same time 😅 and now i am more earger to know the all God's perspectives about their sibling's act.

Either he predicted that Ashley would roleplay a god who encourages her mortal 8 year old son to go and gamble with a bunch of seedy looking dudes, or (more likely), he improvised that on the spot and gave us some deep insight and the backstory of a (throwaway cameo character) criminal with a heart of gold, dealing with the trauma of losing his kid brother. I absolutely love the way that brennan uses lore setups to foreshadow the endings of these games from the start, since this is history we know the broad strokes of how things end but the drama is in the specifics. For calamity he setup a failure and asked how much can we save before the end. In downfall he asks, how much will we have to destroy so we may succeed

I've always thought it is more difficult to do comedy. Fail and it's just not funny, and a comedy can rarely live on the strength of the plot. Over do it and you fly past funny to annoying. And the worst part is the sweet spot between those two extremes changes based on the audience. It takes a ton of skill to do comedy.

@@leojamesclune1730 I try not to lean on wish fulfillment. The most tragic part of Avalir's tragedy is that the entire episode of history is faded into myth; Avalir is the Atlantis of Exandria. The sacrifices they made are never known or shared with the generations that are reaping the benefits. That's some serious meta-pathos. That said, I'm a fan too and I really do like that theory. :)

I don't think they will. The Calamity is a time of loss, and the horrible thing about war is all the stories that are lost and painted over by whatever it is decided later the war was really about. The stories of multitudes are often lost in the grand changes of the world, and with them important truths that might prevent their like happening again.

When the BH party was split on the eve of the Solstice and all that happened in the week-ish after, Imogen, in attempts to teleport back to Drusar, failed the check and sent the teleportation off course and their portion of the party landed atop a different mountian peak than intended. On that other mountain peak was a group of Aarokocra peoples. My hope/head cannon is that those people who were insistent on being kept secret and made no mention of their peoples names or even location name, are the descendants of Cerrit's family and that have the Orb and all the knowledge of the Library of Avalir👀🤷‍♀️👌. It never came up and idk if was magically made forgotten or if too much was happening that the players genuinely forgot or what but they NEVER mentioned it ugh I'm waiting for the day that it comes up but literally(not literally but you get it) Matt said this bird person lands infront of you ready to kill you if you don't leave this place. I was the Leo meme whistling with a cigarette going WAIT IT'S CERRITS GRANDKIDS WAIT😂

I love Taliesin playing Melora, She is usually depicted as sort of motherly and kind but nature in reality is cruel and indifferent. He really understood the assignment. Pelor is giving off the holier than thou thing so subtly and I hope by the end of this we get to see Nick turn that to full arrogant righteousness after Asmodeus riles him up enough, It would be a great arc. This is so far not as in your face powerful as calamity felt but that's a good thing, I love a slow quiet build up.

I think Tal mentioned that he’s trying to play Asha like actual Nature itself. Always hungry, indifferent, and violent. And I like that he took this framework for this particular story. Nature itself has been crushed by war for a hundred years at this point, and before that, people essentially worshiped magic itself and devoted everything to mastering it, neglecting and devaluing the natural order of things. So it would make sense that Asha/Melora would be simmering with a significant anger. Not to mention she got stood up by her wife, who it seems like she was really looking forward to reuniting with for a common purpose at last.

Lore wise we know that Torog was defeated when he was baited to the surface and Pelor hit him with 10000 lances of sunlight. So we know that at least in full god form the Dawnfather isn't afraid to go completely nuts on someone. I certainly expect to see that aspect in the fighting this coming Thursday.

Yeah, it feels like a strange like. Creation myth, but for that of the gods. It’s speculation, as I haven’t finished this episode so I don’t know what happens, but I think it’s initial arrival of the gods to Exandria as they ran from Predathos, but I’ll be honest. The way Brennan described this “nothingness” sounds like the Hunger from the McElroy brothers’ The Adventure Zone: Balance, a plane of existence based solely on forced assimilation. I'm trying to understand how Laura's character is both the Raven Queen and was present during the intro that seemed like the gods creating Predathos by picking a potential fruit before it was ripe and it exploded into an unstoppable cancer that forced them into the Real so they wouldn't go Away. How was the Raven Queen there before escaping to the Real? With all the talk of potentials it makes me want to assume the mortal that became the Raven Queen was already the Raven Queen like a split personality or accidental avatar.

Brennan even responds with you know of the day when that thing comes for you, the day you never existed. In my mind that doubt splintered the potential of the god of death and either started to bleed the desire and visions of the knowledge of how to ascend into the one who would ascend or maybe Death connected to the woman who ascended so it could experience Away for itself?

That's what I'm saying dude I felt that line in my soul, knowing the disgruntled but damaged sort of characters TJ prefers. There is simultaneous appreciation/empathy for the obscene and abhorrent while acknowledging certain circumstances and choices are beyond that recognition.

I love the story about the eternal palace, because it also ecplains the Luxon for me. I think that was a spirit that tried to step over but coulden't let go of infinet possibility and was riped apart because of that. It never managed to become as real as the other gods, so it never got locked into only be one thing.
