I absolutely loved this book. It is the first time I felt so connected with the world of Infinity. Hexas rules 🎉

Mark Barber seems like a really cool guy

I’m so glad I discovered this page and eventually this video. Currently going through the book and am really eager to finish it so I can listen to the rest of this episode. Fucking excellent so far! A couple of small gripes but man, I am loving so much of it. I especially enjoy the interactions between the character.

Downfall made me buy Aristeia because it was playing on the tv in a bar in one scene.

To Mark, you gave us PanO players the universe we deserve not the one we have (muh smoke), I loved the way you wrote Beckman it really highlights the decadence of buying the hottest body that did nothing to solve her inner problems I dont know if that was deliberate but I found the dichotomy very interesting.

Downfall was an excellent book and this interview was the best I've listened to because its retrospective rather than previewing. Where do you get the Infinity images you use? They would make great wallpapers.

I haven't watched the full video yet. I'm currently 100 pages deep into Downfall. Does this video have spoilers?

Overall I enjoyed the book. I was a little tickled that the author kept describing the number of shots fired to echo Infinity's bursts. I'm unsure about the characterizations in the books. Hawkins and Beckmann in particular felt inconsistent in their actions and reactions. While one could attribute some of this to Beckmann being a spook and possibly manipulating Hawkins it doesn't feel like that's actually the case. I'm not familiar with any of Mr. Barber's other work, so I'm not sure if this was a writing or potentially an editing issue, where the scenes and sequels that would have eased some of the transitions were cut to fit in more combat. I'm happy I read the book and I would read the sequel but the book doesn't ascend past "book written to showcase a game IP"

This book had moments of tense excitement smothered by by tedious highschool drama. Overall It was a slog for me. Mike Barber seems like a cool guy. Please stick with tactical warfare and skip the drama.

Beckman reminded me way too much of my ex-girlfriend. Poor Kyle!
