I don’t remember ever seeing this event at the time. Like Snowboard Cross on BMX. Actually not a bad concept.

Andrew Drennan Yeah I used to watch it, and dual slalom when that was a thing. When I was 12 or something. But yeah this is not that. The track in this looks smoother than MTB almost like a regular BMX track.

That course looks SKETCHY. Super dusty, bumpy turns and they are landing so flat on a lot of them. I’d still kill to have this brought back

If we could just take the graded track from this concept, so that tracks could be longer without the loss of speed, we'd have a much more spectator orientated race for sure.

Why did this go away? It's hard to believe there wasn't enough interest to sustain it. Those sponsorships are pretty heavy too; there's Taco Bell, Adidas, and Comcast to name a few.

Not every venue has a large hill to ride down. And Xgames didn't keep the "race" categories of many events.

@@monkeyskatan actually 4x (basically the mtb version of this format) was scrapped by the uci not long afterwards.. must say dh bmx looks way cooler so quite a shame it didn’t catch on.

I think this was a 1 year event, 2 max. I tried to tape everything on VHS at the time as a 12 year old. Didn't get any of this but did get the Bob Burnquist run of forever. I just remember thinking this was a fun event

This was just the beginning. This is now an Olympic sport because of the hugh popularity around this time. Makes me want to dust off the old race bike and go hit a track.

the bikes look way to small for them. don't know anything about bmx racing. was that like regulation size you had to ride?

They have to be of a regulation size when it comes to wheel size, they have to be 20 inches and only one gear, a taller person would ride a longer bike for example the “top tube” on the frame would be 21 inches if you were about 5’8” and 22 inches if you were 6 foot plus for example
