Simple and Precise. Less talk, More work kinda video 👍🏻 People out thr should suggest to partition the disk and install Beta releases on it rather than upgrading existing version and then go bang your head for downgrading when somethings go wrong. Being a tech enthusiast, Using this approach I need not to have a separate laptop to experience the BETA releases like most people out thr suggest

Hi, is there any method go pick a particular build version? As Montery has 2 different build version of installers available in same 12.6.3 id .e. Build: 21G417 and Build: 21G419 whereas when i updated mac from system preferences i got BuildVersion: 21G115. Pls tell how to select build intsaller as seen in command "softwareupdate --list-full-installers".

Does`t work for me as I have MacOS Monterey v12.5.1 Any suggestion to help me out at this point? Thanks a lot!

G'day Thanks for this as seen some rather worrying comments about the "update" messing Monterey, rather then using the "Upgrade" version. Mr Mac has the link now for the full installer which I am about to use Any idea if I can run this from the volume itself or better to run from the current active Monterey volume? Now that i have the installer I do not need thre developer setting until Ventura is installed then I can set that up for Ventura only in its own systems Prefs, YES? I have been using the dev setting for a few version on my old 2013 MBP, but just got a new M1 14" MBP with 512 gig so space for the two OSs now... Thoughts be helpful !!! @Apple Ninja Addition - I setup dev seed and saw that added to prefs in Monterey and OS13 beta show. However the d/l file was only 6.9 gigs in size!!! So NOT the full installer. I did use Mr Mac's link and have the full 13gig installer by looks. Just an advisory warning as size needs to be around the 13gig mark! A further update: Best to use the Terminal command to download the full installer if you find the Sys Pref seed is smaller than the 13g. Then when the d/l starts you will see the Sys Pref size reflect the full 13 g, if you then click on the Upgrade button. At this point DO NOT kill the sys pref d/l as it is reflecting the Terminal command and you will loose the connection. However, don't panic. If you restart in Terminal it will pick up the d/l from the last point. Meaning if you were at 20% and you accidently killed the Sys Pref d/l, when you restart it in Terminal it will pick up from the 20% Hope all this is of use to anyone

Was looking for this and thank you for making the video. 2 questions 1. Can i install in directly on an external ssd or only possible on internal partition? 2. I have a scrolling stutter in M1 Air (8GPU) MacOS 12.4 on Safari and Chrome and a lil bit in App UI (Apple Music, AppStore, Twitter) but it's better in Firefox. Is it still present in MacOS Ventura?
@AppleNinja
@AppleNinja 2 года назад
Hey Taranbeer Singh you can definitely install on external media and boot the Mac from the external drive. As for the scrolling issue you are having I am not able to replicate. I have a lot of Macs with Big Sur, Monterey and now 2 with Ventura, so I will see if I notice on any of them. I currently am not seeing it with Ventura on M1 13” MBP and 2018 Intel 15” MBP.

@@AppleNinja Oh then I will definitely try installing on the external SSD. I have Uploaded 3 videos comparing all the 3 browser and you can clearly see the difference. What's confusing to me is how the "Installing.. 1.0%" (etc) part is just taking a second or two for you and it takes forever on my box - not really sure I did that right - or if it's installing over the current macOS on my primary partition.
@AppleNinja
@AppleNinja 2 года назад
In a lot of my videos I will speed up the process to save you time having to watch a long video. It can take a long time for downloads and installs.
@FerretFerrari
@FerretFerrari 2 года назад
@@AppleNinja OK - what I ended up doing was, after making the 2nd partition, I downloaded the current official macOS from the appstore, then installed that one to the 2nd partition. I rebooted in 2nd partition, and then enabled the beta version from there, and installed. This way I could make sure that the first partition would never have beta installed.

Will installing this on a 2nd partiton affect any of my data on my main MacOS 12 disk? If the disk is partitioned i believe it should not affect data on the other end correct?
@AppleNinja

Should not, but it is always a good idea to have a backup.

At the end of the video, you said not to forget to unenroll your Mac from the developer's program. Why do you need to do that? I thought that if you kept it enrolled, you would be able to get updates for the beta easier. But I could be wrong. Appreciate your video and the answer.
@Gonzo-4eva

The reason you would do this on your current macOS is so that you don't keep getting prompted to upgrade to Ventura. This way you'll still get dot releases for your current OS (e.g. Monterey)
