Downtown Lafayette, Louisiana is more than a business center. Nestled between office buildings one can find Art Galleries, Restaurants, Nite Clubs and Bars. During Spring and Fall the streets are closed off for Downtown Alive - Cajun and Zydeco bands bring in the crowds. The Festival International de Louisiane is held here every year around April/May. I love lafayette so much! I was born and raised in New Iberia, moved to Lafayette after graduating high school. Now I live in Chicago but I miss lafayette so much :( Thanks for the lovely video!!

Working here at Ft. Polk for a few months. Thinking of visiting Lafayette this week. First heard it mentioned in songs by Luciinda Williams. You should try this video with her song "Lafayette" as the soundtrack.. I'm originally from Southern California but I travel all over. I love the culture, food, music and people here.

I absolutely agree.. a toe tapping delight! Love the Triangle... I can play a little on the guitar... mostly when I was young... need to get some practice and start playing Cajun!!! We could start a band...hahaha!!

Houma, La. raised for 66 years, and I absolutely love it, but make no mistake. Laffayette is a damned fine city. Not a finer city in La. to live in...... PERIOD !

I'm from Lafayette and recently moved to Germany, but I've wanted to go to Ireland for quite a while! We are hoping to visit there as a very late honeymoon. =] I love Louisiana and I don't think we could live away from it for very long if I had the choice. The food IS amazing haha. I'm very sad I haven't seen crawfish anywhere here so far. =[

I hear you. Lafayette may be an oil town. But please don't confuse that with corporate take over. Don't let lafayette end up like Dallas where the wild, open, freedom and beauty of Texas has literally been destroyed and covered by soulless stripmalls. There is no more "Texas" in Dallas. Keep Lafayette CAJUN !!!

Me too! My husband is stationed in Germany and ofcourse I had to come with him :P It's very nice and clean here and all, but we miss Lafayette... even with all it's potholes lmao. They started building round-a-bouts at EVERY possible place, though! It was getting ridiculous xD

For a city with 125,000 + people living in it ,there is almost no one walking the downtown area since the malls came,except when the festivals are in town.
