Casual stroll in Downtown Oceanside on Mission Boulevard to Coast Highway and the Oceanside Pier. This is on a fabulous Autumn day - October 2023 - where the coastal eddy (cloudiness) cleared fairly early giving way to 10 miles or more of visibility to the north towards Camp Pendleton and to the south towards La Jolla. As a Gateway City into San Diego County, Downtown Oceanside is a mini downtown with some mid rise residential and commercial all within easy walking distance of the beach and boardwalk. The Oceanside Pier is just under 2,000 feet long, similar in length to the Ocean Beach (O.B.) Pier located south in the Central area of San Diego; yet is a completely wooden rather than concrete structure like the aforementioned O.B. Pier. The bridge from the street to the wood pier is over 100 years old and is scheduled to be demolished and replaced with a new bridge.
