@@Christoph877 Well, I think no matter where a person goes there's always going to be rough patches in any city. The pandemic has probably exacerbated certain issues, I don't live downtown so can't speak to that part, but even before the pandemic there were certain areas which weren't recommended for anyone to walk about!

@@Christoph877 geographically Vancouver is beautiful, city-wise not so much. Lots of run-down places with crumbling infrastructure and homeless people. Still a great visit for tourists

@vivansh don’t worry, there are lots of nice, welcoming people in Vancouver. People aren’t as receptive to meeting strangers though so it can be hard at first. Try joining clubs or volunteering and meet people organically and you will do great! Good luck on your studies!

Before this trip, I hadn't been to Vancouver since I was a little kid. I was really impressed. I thought it was a great city.

Super boring, bland place to live. Take away the mountains and water and you have Calgary. The "beautiful" part of Van everybody talks about is a very, very small area... the west end, north shore (north and west Van)... that's the true Van. Outside of that it's just suburbs and strip malls of any small back water city. They also think they're a foodie town ... which is hilarious, unless you like deep fried brew pubs... and about 7 what would be consider good international quality restaurants. I'd say pass on moving...
