Topeka is the capital city of the U.S. state of Kansas and the seat of Shawnee County. It is along the Kansas River in the central part of Shawnee County, in northeast Kansas, in the Central United States. Population: 130,000.
The name "Topeka" is a Kansa-Osage word that means "place where we dug potatoes", or "a good place to dig potatoes". The city is well known for the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, which declared racial segregation in public schools to be unconstitutional. The U.S. Navy has named three ships USS Topeka after the city.

I live in Austin. When I was young, Austin had a little over 200K people. Now the city has close to 1 million and the metro has almost 2 million. With that, the place is overwhelmed with traffic, crime, litter and crowds. Topeka looks like heaven.

It looks like a place without many habitants. It looks like a bit gray and desolate place. The young people have left ? Or they prefer not to leave their homes. I sense something strange there... I felt the sensation of when I once had the opportunity to drive in those rural, unpopulated Canadian towns and villages, with a dreamlike automobile traffic, because it is almost non existent.

umm, all of the streets by my house are pretty flat. no holes or anything.

This is one of the ugliest, drab and dirty towns I've ever been to. That was 3 years ago and I doubt anything has changed.

Don't judge a book by its cover! We celebrate jamborees, we have great schools, *mostly* nice people, and much more! Even though it may not look the most colorful, we do good things here! We have people that you will respect in Topeka. You will have respectful things to say about us, and we will have respectful things to say about you.
