Outstanding quality video of Whitehorse and a real feel of this town. I've been hooked on Steve Silva video after seeing Yellowknife City driving tour in what appears to be sub-zero weather
I have been to across the world several times including Canada four times. God knows that I did not know that Yukon is so awesome and beautiful. I have only been to Toronto,Mississauga and a few times I have/had been to Surrey(Vancouver). But after watching the very beautiful videos of yours, by the Grace Of The God Almighty, I will definitely be visiting the Whitehorse and will definitely will be traveling throughout the Yukon. May The God Almighty Bless You Always!Amen! Shammi
@@mrh3894 Exactly Please help me understand ? Another small town Canadian City with the typical Northern Problems. Get out on the land This is pretty boring to me.
I was having to much fun to make it to FH, finished at Jeckell jr. late 70's early 80's for me, We must have crossed paths at a keg party at some time, Lol
Excellent quality of this video and very good view of some of the Downtown Wh. vibe..i am from Vancouver, but i like the feel of this city.. ppl in the comments say it is desolate, empty etc, but i get a different feeling, this city has good energy and a very nice character..lots of nice spots to eat too.. I am sure there are people that enjoy living there..
Yeah, a lot of people love Whitehorse life. I guess it depends on one's personal preferences and life goals. It's far from everything, but definitely not empty
Beautiful video. Very well done 👍👌I have a possible work contract in Whitehorse but I am in a dilemma. I want to experience living in the Yukon but I want to get away from crowds and city like places. I also heard groceries are expensive there and it’s quite cold in the winter ( although I am in Northern SK ) It is beautiful however. Thanks again.😊
Go to the smaller communities! We spent almost 3 weeks in Haines Junction, close to Kluane Park. Amazing little community. Moving to Whitehorse (from Yellowknife) this spring!!! Yukon is FANTASTIC.
Make sure you go to Dawson City, well worth the trip, 300 miles north of Whitehorse, fast drive, paved all the way with banked corners ( helps the truckers) easy 120/130 km per hr all the way, no hiding cops like the city. P.S. Make sure you go to the Modern Hotel in dawson and have the sour toe cocktail. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JohLRB5UuXg.html
@@rorymunroe3771 thank you for the information. I think I took a tour of the Klondike with school classmates back in the 80s. Those birds bring back memories
@@annetteslife I'm glad to hear that. I live in Pennsylvania USA....I would like to be your friend and let's keep talking and get to know each other more.
When i went to visit, gee must have been 15/18 yrs ago Hogans gone, now it's Malwart, Canadian Tire, Superstore etc. Sad to see places like Nelsons hardware gone too, they were across from the Dairy Queen that's not there anymore either, I went to school with their son, Larwence nelson.
I live here... there's a ton of homelessness here right now. it's worse than BC and Ontario, there are so many people without homes... I think it's something to do with the immigration laws and businesses hiring out-of-town for tax breaks etc. I've heard a lot of stories from locals that the immigration is hurting the locals because the businesses want the tax breaks.
Couldn't imagine people being homeless so far North. Its one thing being homeless in Vancouver, Seattle or Los Angeles were you can sleep on the beach most of the year but I cant imagine this far north. There must be somewhere for people to sleep when it gets cold?
What homelessness are you talking about? This video shows clean beautiful spacious streets with people walking on well kept empty sidewalks.. Same in any other videos of Wh. that i watched.. Wh. has 5-8 months of extreme cold out of the year and fairly small urban area.. No homeless would survive there. The only cities that have lots of those are warmer cities in BC, and Toronto etc.. Homelessness is a choice, a lifestyle, has zero to do with lack of jobs. A lot of those ppl prefer to be on the streets due to well known issues.
I noticed when i went back that the drug thing is worse downtown now, back when I lived there the down and out types would just heave a big rock or ice ball thru a window etc. while a cop was handy and they would get a straight to jail card. Lol
Summer is basically 2-3 months, can get anywhere from a few degrees at night up to low 20s in the day. Maybe q few days a year gets up to 27-29C. Winter is cold, basically 8 months a year. About 5-6 months of the year you looking at Temps like -10C to -40C. You are close to Alaska and the North Pole, its cold.

Beautiful place that downtown Whitehorse...where the hell is everybody? I could see if it were -40 degrees and an icy wind a blowin', but c'mon. There's no activity - absolutely none. Maybe a video of the apartment complexes or where young people hang out or high schools or something. Maybe it was a Canadian holiday or a Sunday. I enjoyed your video nonetheless.
Thanks. Having lived here for more than a year, I find the downtown area to be rather empty during the weekends. Many people go camping, hiking, etc. It's Yukon: There's a lot to explore. Also, many residents live in neighbourhoods away from the downtown area; the city is not as compact as Yellowknife, for example.
Not everyone wants to live together. I've had nothing but problems living in apartments, duplexes and row houses. I don't like dealing with other people's problems and lifestyles.
Whitehorse is a fantastic place. We spent three years there. At the United Keno mine to be specific. Our daughter was born in Mayo we went to Whitehorse several times and also visited
