Love DP. Started with Opcode Vision DSP but after Gibson killed it I moved to DP and it's still my fave, even after having worked with Logic Pro and more recently trying Nuendo, LUNA, and Reaper.

1- How many Stock plugin it provides...? 2- Does it have virtual keyboard support (can we use Computer keyboard as midi) 3- Can we rewire Reason 12 racks to it...? These are my main Doubt

it has 7 diferent instruments, including drums, sampler, and synths. PLus all the basic FX. you would need to make a simple production but very good Quality. Yes you can use your computer keyboard as input for piano There's a video from the channel A Minor Error 4 years ago, where he showcases main features of Digital Performer and he has a whole bus there called REASON and he mentions he wires reason to DP. He does synths in Reason and brings it all to DP ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x3IjWsqN2eE.htmlsi=KiFlYE9WoLw0gsgT

I've been using DP for 20+ years. The stock plugins are not the strong suit of DP-a lot of them have not had a facelift in years and certain ones (like Dynamic EQ) are extremely complicated for professionals. But then there are some indespensible plugins like SubBass and Masterworks Limiter. Honestly I really prefer the default plugins how Studio Live handles it, where they auto-arrange into a tray and have nice big modern graphics. In DP, plugin windows are just floating and don't auto-arrange into a sensible layout. You have to drag them around and place them where you want them on your second monitor, if you have one. But honestly, here is the reason I stick with DP over all the others. None of the DAWs comes with a perfect set of plugins, but the overall way in which you work with plugins in DP via the V-Rack and Mixes and Chunks and Channel Presets and auto-mapping MIDI controller inputs to plugin knobs is so life-changingly good that once you are accustomed to working that way, you can literally never use another DAW again without feeling brain damaged. Working with aux channels with plugin automation data is again, life changing, MOTU DP is literally light years ahead in this regard. As to which plugins you need beyond the stock ones, just get a Waves subscription or Plugin Alliance and have more than you'll ever need for very cheap. DP is an EXTREMELY deep program that has so many layers of depth and flexibility that once you know how it truly works, you can never go to anything else. It is a piece of software that has literally been in continuous development since MIDI-only Performer 1.0 in 1985 and then Digital Performer in 1992 added audio to that. The only older DAW is Pro Tools but it does not have anywhere close to Performer's MIDI capabilities. But you really do need to spend some time to read the user manual for DP. It's over 1,000 pages and no one has read the entire thing, but you want to read up on Chunks, Mixes, V-Rack, and the other stuff I mentioned. Every time I use this app, I'm learning something new that improved what I can do. It's not hard to use, but it is also an old school software that you want to know the keyboard shortcuts like option-click, command-click, control-click all do something useful in different controls. The sequencer alone is the best one ever made. There is just so much stuff you can do easily in DP that you cannot do in anything else, or if you can, it's a big hassle.

Does DP or Performer Lite have a scale mode/feature to help those of us who never learned piano or theory?

No but you can use a MIDI plugin like Scaler 2 with DP to accomplish something like this. And if you don't have Scaler 2, get it. This shit is life changing

It's 2023 and DP's "Freeze" feature still freezes in real time ;)

are you hunting for newest videos of DP to repeat your point? LOL, seriously. It's you right?

@@CesarMalacon-wv3ki Definitely like DP a lot, but keep checking in to see if they've entered this century....unfortunately no lol

@@TheAerovons yeah that is definitely a bad point to them. I was really asking in a friendly way if it was the same person repeating the issue. Good you took it lightly. Fortunately they keep up the development so hopefully it will come eventually

@@CesarMalacon-wv3ki I'm older and started with Performer in the 1980s! Did many great national TV spots and projects with it. So will always have a soft spot for it. Hopefully somebody up there adds some normal things like bounce in place, etc. But thanks, yeah, we're all fans here;)
