Yes more DPR IAN please! He's so talented and honestly deserves so much more recognition for the art he puts out. Not only does he produce his music, but he directs and edits his videos as well. The stories that they tell relate to his bipolar and DID disorders so you'll see different characters representing different aspects of his real life experiences. If you'd like to start from the beginning, his first video is "So beautiful" which focuses on the character Mito (my-toh). But you can't really go wrong with any of them, hope to see more soon!

Just so you know, DPR Ian is an incredibly fascinating, incredibly talented, complex and intriguing artist. I absolutely adore everything about him. I'll try really hard to summarize Ian as much as I can but I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest watching his interviews with Zach Sang, JREKML (2 parts) and his incredible in depth interview with a fan called SayWhatReacts. They are definitely MUST WATCH content to truly understand Ian. But I digress... -DPR Ian (pronounced eee-an not eye-an) aka Christian Yu -Korean Australian former kpop artist of the group C-Clown -cofounded DPR (Dream Prefect Regime - an independent, multi-genre music and video group) with DPR LIVE, DPR CREAM, DPR REM (REM left and now they've added DPR ARTIC). CL is a female artist that collabs with them as well. -Ian became an mv director for artists like BIGBANG'S Taeyang, LOCO, iKON's Bobby, Winner's Mino etc. And recently directed and starred in a Korean female artist called IU's mv "Shopper" -Ian writes, composes, produces his own music and directs and EDITS his own music videos which blows my freaking mind! Yes he edited this mini movie you just watched. -Ian lives with Bipolar Disorder and Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder) -Ian has shared 2 of his "alters" aka other personalities with us. -MITO is what he named his personality when he's "dipping" or in his manic low state. MITO is also considered Ian's "protector". If MITO "fronts" aka takes over Ian's body, Ian blacks out for days, weeks, even a month at the longest according to Ian. Ian remembers nothing when MITO takes over and has to be told everything he did during that time by friends/family. MITO can be seen in Ian's music videos with one white eye, in all black with or without wings, or in black and white scenes. MITO is also known for his distinctive deep voice and Ian has described him as "like a fallen angel" which is pretty cool that you actually said that. -Mr. Insanity is what Ian named his personality when he's in his manic high state. Ian considers Mr. Insanity as the "clown god". Mr. Insanity is very colorful, vibrant, silly, and sometimes surrounded by butterflies. You can see Mr. Insanity in the "So I Danced" mv. Mr. Insanity can be reckless at times so MITO protects Ian from him going too crazy (from my understanding). Ian has said when MITO takes over he has no memory but when Mr. Insanity takes over he can kindof coexist with him and remember things(correct me if I'm wrong fellow DREAMERS). Btw the DPR fandom name is DREAMERS 😊. Everything Ian makes is based on his real life experiences and lucid dreams with DID. It's an incredible journey through his mind. I hope I helped you understand Ian a little bit. So now that you see how incredibly intricate, alluring and talented DPR Ian is, I truly hope you dive deeper into his music. Can't wait to see more reactions! All of his music videos connect as a large ongoing story starting with his 1st MV 'So Beautiful'. The lore is complex but simply put there is a dream world called 'The Otherside' which is ruled by a clown god named Mr. Insanity (the one shooting the lightning at the dj booth in this video), he is enemies with Mito (The fallen angel you see with black wings). Ian is the main character who has DID (both fictional and in real life) who switches between Mr. Insanity, Mito, and a new character shown in this MV with blue eyes called The Hybryd. Enjoy!!! You will LOVE Dpr Ian. I love Saint but any newcomers who watch the video are lost because its kind of like opening a book at chapter 15 and starting there lol. All of his music and music videos are connected. I would start with the first one called "So Beautiful" and go from there. I will attempt to give you a spoiler free guiding post for the storyline in his music videos so you can fully appreciate the effort and the artistry. First and most important thing to remember is the storyline is directly tied too and inspired by Christian Yu's (DPR Ians real name) mental health. He creates characters that blur the line between fictional and nonfiction. I will explain. He has Bi Polar disorder as well as a recently diagnosed Dissassociative Identity Dissorder. The Characters in his music videos ARE REAL. They are different alters in his body and do exist, OR they are representations of different real life effect that his disorders put him through, however the representations of them in his MVs aren't a one to one representation of them. Christian has explained it would be impossible for him to accurately portray them so he uses his art medium (music/video) to tell a story with them in a way that he thinks other people who don't have this disorder might understand it. Now Ill move on to the MVs. When you start your journey chronologically, you will meet your first two characters - Ian and Mito - Ian is our main character. The one going on this heroes journey, and being effected by all the shenanigans of the other characters around him. Mito: I will not tell you anything more except to pay attention to some visual ques for when Mito is fronting or the one in the shot. Those being black and white filter, one white eye, dressed all in red, and a match strike. There are also some other hidden tells for Mito, such as a lower registered voice and even his name hidden in credits if he was in charge of that specific song somehow creatively. DPR Ians first album is all about Mito and is named after him (Mood Swings in This Order) so you will have plenty of ways to be introduced to him. after awhile you will have hints of another character sprinkled into the story but he will not be officially introduced until you watch the MV Peanut Butter & Tears. This will be a very obvious tone shift and blatant character shift as we introduce our newest character Mr. Insanity: again I will be brief on the explanations to avoid spoilers, but I will tell you too look out for. clownlike in dressing, different colored eyes, butterflies, claw like fingers, glitter. he can be very obvious lol. Mr. Insanity is explored here and throughout all promotions for the album "Dear Insanity" but Mito is not left out. Christian Yu Is world building with all of his music for one focused story after all. Saint is the second MV where we have been introduced to our newest character. The first introduction to him was a MV called "Limbo" and his name is The Hybrid: he is a mystery as of now so I couldn't tell you a whole lot if I wanted too but we are expecting an album that is promising to put more pieces together for us. signs to look out for with him are eclipses, and blue eyes. This is all spacificly information about his music videos and lore but that is not to say you couldn't just take a DPR Ian album off Spotify and listen to it completely out of context. He helps produce everything and writes it all. He plays with a lot of genre and moods. Im excited too watch you travel down this rabit hole, as I think DPR Ian is one of the worlds most hidden treasures. He is by and away not popular enough if the prices of my concert ticket tell me anything (Very affordable, in THIS ECONOMY?!)
With dpr ian you never know what genre to expect he is such a versatile artist yet i feel like he managed to have a specific signature to his music. The visuals are always CRAZY like dude is on the cinema level and he's actually the director & the editor of his mvs 😅 anyway there are so many things i wanna talk abt because ian is literally one the most fascinating artists i've known with a no skip discography. u definitely better check out more of his stuff its a treat to the eyes & ears for sure u can start with his debut song so beautiful
omg yess theres a storyline in his music videos if you want to watch them in order im not sure if anyone has put them yet if not ill go back and edit this comment to add them but a little bit of dpr ian his music /mvs are based off his disorders he has bipolar and DID (dissociative identity disorder) i would also highly recommend to watch some of his interviews
