A square is also a trapezoid, in either case saying "trapezoid" will be right.

I would have used the term "quadrilateral." Trapezoids, parallelograms, squares, rhombuses, they're all quadrilaterals.

deepers is perfect - use it - it opens up so many opportunities for connotations, innuendo, strongly implies your audience are people who like in-depth reviews and, if nothing else, rhymes with sneakers

@joelschafer
@joelschafer 6 лет назад
It seems like every channel I watch eventually reaches a popularity level where they start a weekly chat show of some kind and then feeding that beast sucks all the time away from producing the type of content that made them successful in the first place. So, I'm really happy that the move to DP Review has freed them of TCS Live and now they are getting back to high gear. That's not to say anything these guys make isn't worth watching but personally I'd much rather watch this that a random interview.

The tip on fixed vrs variable ND filters was gold! Never knew that, in learning about video for 5-6 years. That alone makes this episode gold. And, you guys are naturals. Once a week is fine with me, with an occasional gear review thrown in. I do like a slightly slower, more relaxed pace, like the fishing video.

This is great idea guys! Keep the video tutorials coming. I could not find the guidance about shutter speed on Internet when I bought my NEX-5 camera in 2010 and ended up with some weird 1/500s videos. When done with basic parameters it may be worth going to some techniques for shooting video of basic scenes like interview, conversation etc. e.g. to always shoot conversation from one side of the people talking.

Guys.. awesome, awesome, awesome, that was great. I don't know anything about video shooting or post-production and I really appreciate you coming from a novice point of view. So more videos about setup and techniques. Explanations about color space, sLog, film wrapers (what ever they are?) 1080p 24,25,30,60 frame rates??? How to render a video what ever the hell that is and does where you start i.e. the quality of the of the video (1080, 4K) effect how you render. Or for that matter how you import the video into the editing S/W. Do you get the idea... you do, right? Anyway thanks from your antipodean friend.

It's neither a quadrangle nor square. It's a diamond. Thanks for the great video. As a suggestion to future videos, I would like to see the subject of video dynamic range and highlight roll-off. This video that you just shot shows the problems with filming in harsh lighting conditions. What can be done to mitigate blowing out highlights in harsh lighting conditions and which cameras have greater dynamic range to help prevent blown highlights? It's something I wrestle with all the time shooting wildlife out-of-doors. I would love to get Jordan's take on this (No offense to you Chris) and learn some tricks of the trade.

People should watch this on a 4k screen. Every frame is adorable. Re the F stop definition, almost all lenses have additional lenses in front of the aperture blades, this changes the diameter value used in creating the F stop. It is not the physical size of the aperture blades, but the apparent size which has been modified by other lenses. It is the size the blade diameter *appears* to be to light entering the lens.

This is one nice video of you for filmaking or videography call it as you wish and the sense of video motion or call it effect or natural blur or natural movement is the most important thing.. and you achieve this with shutter speed 1/48 at 24fps and ever slower.. and something else important in daylight you use higher iso and in low light you use lower iso values and you are adding your lighting equipment in this case.

Also I don't know if it applies to cameras enough to fit the series but I'd like to see Jordan's basic video editing workflow. Not specifics on using an editing tool, but how to keep clips organized, do you assemble the raw clips in order then apply color and audio profiles, etc. Something simple so photographers can put together easy 3-5 video clips without looking like it was assembled by a millennial on a cellphone but also so it doesn't take 4 weeks to edit 5 mins of basic content.
