Dr. Ali Ataie discusses two topics:
1. Isaiah 53. He explains how Jewish exegetes have dealt with this passage. Who could the Suffering Servant be according to the Jews? And how do the Christian arguments fail?
2. James the Brother of Jesus and the Apostle Paul. Dr. Ali presents a narrative history of how we went from Jesus to Muhammad. This includes explaining the early, post-apostolic, and modern conflicts between proto-Islam/Islam and proto-orthodox/trinitarian Christianity. He touches upon the Nazarenes, Ebionites, and the patristics and how all of these things relate to the Quran's Christology.
*For further reading I strongly recommend: The Brother of Jesus and the Lost Teachings of Christianity www.amazon.co....
Dr. Ali Ataie is a scholar of biblical hermeneutics with field specialties in Sacred Languages, Comparative Theology, and Comparative Literature. At Zaytuna College, Dr. Ataie has taught Arabic, Creedal Theology, Comparative Theology, Sciences of the Quran, Introduction to the Qur’an, and Seminal Ancient Texts. He received his PhD in Cultural and Historical Studies in Religion from the Graduate Theological Union. Dr. Ataie is a native Persian speaker and can read and write Arabic, Hebrew, and Greek.

Did i just get a bucket of knowledge poured on me? This is a very detailed discussion of things i have never known about! It's so interesting and entertaining. I never knew Jesus had a literal brother, James. It's just like Aaron who supported Moses. Great to see Dr Ali Ataie back in the channel. Appreciate the explanation on Isaiah 53 but it seems to be a contentious topic. Thank you Paul for getting guests for discussions in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. Keep on keeping on man!

The last ten verses of Mark are made up (they dont show up in the earliest manuscripts of Mark). Scholars only credit Paul with 7 of the 13 letters ASCRIBED to him. Twenty Seven books in the NT, HALF OF WHICH are ASCRIBED to Paul, BUT ONLY HALF OF WHICH HE AUTHORED??? Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are ANONYMOUS and not EYEWITNESSES. They said, "We have come willingly." (and said to it and to the earth: "Come willingly or unwillingly.'') meaning, `respond to My command and be subjected to this action, willingly or unwillingly.' This command addressed to the earth and sky and their compliant and obedient reply is an expression for the readiness of the earth and the sky to comply with every order from Allah Almighty. Nothing here is about a 'contracting universe' ! The Quran on the Origin of the Universe: The science of modern cosmology, observational and theoretical, clearly indicates that, at one point in time, the whole universe was nothing but a cloud of ‘smoke’ (i.e. an opaque highly dense and hot gaseous composition). This is one of the undisputed principles of standard modern cosmology. Scientists now can observe new stars forming out of the remnants of that ‘smoke’ A new star forming out of a cloud of gas and dust (nebula), which is one of the remnants of the ‘smoke’ that was the origin of the whole universe. (The Space Atlas, Heather and Henbest, p. 50.) The Lagoon nebula is a cloud of gas and dust, about 60 light years in diameter. It is excited by the ultraviolet radiation of the hot stars that have recently formed within its bulk. (Horizons, Exploring the Universe, Seeds, plate 9, from Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc.) The illuminating stars we see at night were, just as was the whole universe, in that ‘smoke’ material. God has said in the Quran: Then He turned to the heaven when it was smoke... (Quran, 41:11) Because the earth and the heavens above (the sun, the moon, stars, planets, galaxies, etc.) have been formed from this same ‘smoke,’ we conclude that the earth and the heavens were one connected entity. Then out of this homogeneous ‘smoke,’ they formed and separated from each other. God has said in the Quran: Have not those who disbelieved known that the heavens and the earth were one connected entity, then We separated them?... (Quran, 21:30) Dr. Alfred Kroner is one of the world’s renowned geologists. He is Professor of Geology and the Chairman of the Department of Geology at the Institute of Geosciences, Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany. He said: “Thinking where Muhammad came from . . . I think it is almost impossible that he could have known about things like the common origin of the universe, because scientists have only found out within the last few years, with very complicated and advanced technological methods, that this is the case.” Also he said: “Somebody who did not know something about nuclear physics fourteen hundred years ago could not, I think, be in a position to find out from his own mind, for instance, that the earth and the heavens had the same origin.” ____________ Footnotes: The Arabic word for “smoke” in the above verse is “dukhanun,” which describes the hot, cosmic smoke in question. This word in the Qur’an, in pinpoint fashion, describes this smoke very accurately for it is a warm body of gas containing mobile particles connected to solid substances. Here, the Qur’an has employed the most appropriate word from the Arabic language for describing the appearance of this phase of the universe. Let us note that only in the 20th century have scientists discovered that the universe emerged from a hot gas in the form of smoke

Dear Paul All credits go to you. Despite the fact that my best teacher has always been Sheikh Hamza Yusuf Mark Hanson, co-founder of Zaytuna College, I never knew they had such a giant of Ancient “Abrahamic” Sacred literature and languages like Dr. Ali Ataie. His Persian origins make him a more tolerant human being, and the fact that he can read and write Arabic, Hebrew, and Greek, makes him unique. I listened to the entire 2 hour-long broadcast, and both your knowledge is remarkable. Usually, I almost always find some fault somewhere, and this time I was in agreement 100% with him and you although my knowledge about the factual details of those sciences is quite limited. Having said that, I wished Dr. Ali Ataie had also mentioned the Mithraic aspects or origins of Roman Christian-Pauline theology. I “knew” the real name of James the Just was Jacob. The French translated James as Jacques. A sick and sickening habit of Westerners to translate proper names! I understood that the British Union Jack represents the Union of Israelites or Jacobites. All this is very confusing to the common believing Christian who belongs to countless denominations that are opposed to each other and even hate each other while preaching the same Bible they know very little about by design. In Quran you say Jesus was created here we see he was always there. To me we have better explanation of Jesus than you. Wouldn't you agree that the Holy Trinity explains this verse better?

OT : verse about anonymous person coughs. Christians : and we see how the prophecy of the cough was fulfilled perfectly, The person whom coughs represent the one being of the trinity and the pushing force of the cough is the Holy Spirit and this cough removed all the dirt from the believers chest which represents Jesus whom removed our sin by dying for us. P.S if you didn’t get it that because you don’t have the Holy Spirit.

Very interesting discussion! The mention of the word 'siddiq' intrigued me. BTW, for your information, the original title holder of as-Siddiiq al-Akbar (الصّدّیق الأكبر) and al-Faaruuq al-Azam (الفاروق الاعظم) was none other than Ali ibn abi Talib. Ali as al-Siddiq al-akbar wa al-Faruq al-Azam from Sunni sources: قال علی ابن ابی طالب أنا عبد الله وأخو رسوله ، وأنا أصالحه الصّدّیق الأكبر و الفاروق الاعظم . أنا عبد الله وأخو رسوله ، وأنا أصالحه الصّدّیق الأكبر و الفاروق الاعظم. لا يسعني إلا أن أقول هذا إلا كاذب ومخترع أكاذيب ، صليت مع رسول الله سبع سنين قبل غيره من الرجال. "I am the servant of God and the brother of his Messenger, and *I am the most righteous one, al siddiq al-akbar and al-faaruuq al-'azam. No one other than I can say this but he is a liar and an inventor of falsehoods, I performed prayer with the Messenger of God seven years before other men." الامام علي (ع) هو الصديق والفاروق , عدد الروايات : 15 (كلهم من رواة أهل السنة!) 10:44 The verb أخلق can mean "I create" or "I make" i. e. something from something else, in Arabic it doesn't exclusively mean to create from nothing which only Allah can do (although usually it's used to express this) and the Quran used this verb in another place to refer to humans making things. In the same verse right after this word prophet Jesus PBUH says "I create/make for you *from clay*..." And (appoint him) an apostle to the Children of Israel, (with this message): "'I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe

The verb خَلَقَ means both: 1- to create from nothing (the Allaah does it) and the way عِيسَى does it (thanks to Allaah), and and the ordernary way humans invent (a lie) or create things from other things! When you say "although usually it's used to express this", but it's not usually used to express "from nothing" when talking about humans, only when referring to Allaah!

The Quran is traditionally written in the eastern Arabian dialect of Classical Arabic. Ironically Muhammad would have spoken the western dialect ofClassical Arabic originating from Mecca, so there is already an element of translation inherent in the Quran. Quran was sent down by mouth to the prophet over 23 years by angel gibrel it was never in a book and this is what the quran mentions “al hayat” (life), 145 times; “al mawt” (death), 145 times “al-dunya” (mundane life), 115 times; “al akhira” (the afterlife), 115 times “malaika” (angels), 88 times; “shayatin” (demons), 88 times “ar rajul (man), 24 times; “al mar’a (woman), 24 times “as salihat (good deeds), 167 times; “as sayya’at” (wrong doings), 167 times “qul” (say), 332 times; “qalu” (said), 332 times “an nas” (people), 50 times; “an nabiya” (prophets), 50 times “al muslimat” (Muslim women), 41 times; “al muslimin” (Muslim men), 41 times Iblis is mentioned 11 times and seek refuge from iblis is mentioned 11 times "yawma-izhin" (That day), 70 times; "qiyama" (Judgment day), 70 times Disbelief 17 times - belief 17 times "dunya" (near), 115 times; "akhira" (far), 115 times "shitaa" (winter), 1 time; "sayf" (summer), 1 time "Isa" (Yahushua), 25 times; "Adam", 25 times al-Fatihah in itself has 7 verses, 3.5 dedicated towards our praise of the Omnipotent, and the next 3.5 dedicated towards our prayers to the Omnipotent. The words “salawat” (prayers) and "aqimis-salah" (establish prayer) are mentioned 5 times in the Quran, the same as the number of mandatory daily prayers. The word "alwan" (colors) is written 7 times, the same as the number of colors of the rainbow. The words "samawat" + "sab" (heavens + seven) are written together 7 times, the same as the number of heavens described in the Quran. There are 365 days in a year. The word "yawm" (day in singular) is written exactly 365 times. There are 12 months in a year. The word "shahr" (month in singular) is written exactly 12 times: [2:185] [2:194] [2:217] [5:2] [5:97] [9:36] [97:3] The Quran says there are seven heavens above us, sometimes described as seven layers (23:17). We are in the lowest of these layers (دنيا), so the Quran is basically saying that there are six layers "above" the one we are in. The phrase ‘seven heavens’ is used in the whole Quran exactly seven times: 2:29, 41:12, 65:12, 67:3, 71:15, 17:44, and 23:86.[citation needed] The words "Sea" and "Land" are used 32 and 13 times respectively in the Quran. 32 plus 13 equals 45, and the two words make up 71.1 and 28.9 percent respectively of those 45. These percentages roughly correspond to what we today know the proportion of the Earth's surface made up of water and land to be. "Human being" is used 65 times: the sum of the number of references to the stages of man's creation is the same: PLEASE SHARE TO EVERYONE YOU WILL GET REWARD en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symmetry_in_the_Quran

1:03 First mistake is to ignore Isa.52:13-15. Many Muslims know this. 8:58 A Passover Seders did not exist in the 1st Century. The reference is from the Psalms. Telling his followers to eat his flesh and drink his blood is affirmed by the Qur'an in Surahs 3, 5 and 61. The guest in denial has no excuse for saying such madness against the truth. Indeed the matter was stated clearly in the time of Moses and The-Qur'an provides additional evidence in The Akkedah. 17:59 , 36:12 The Messiah must atone for the people because of the sin of the Golden Calf which is emphasised so heavily in the Qur'an you have no good excuse for being ignorant and the Akkedah is easy to read in terms of Biblical symbolism. This is told in Daniel 9 and Acts 2. Contrary to what the guest thinks the ordinance of atonement has to conform to the Torah. 18:26 Dense poetry which is highly shambolic, yes that is dear ole R. Singer. 19:31 Isa.53 can refer to a number of different people, a number of people have written of Jeremiah in particular, but the latter verses are certainly hard to apply to anyone else other than Messiah Yeshua. 33:37 Yahoshua and Yeshua do not mean, he is saved, basic Hebrew, these names with the Yah- prefix mean that God is salvation. 35:46 Repeating Jewish heresies. The 10 Devarim in Exodus affirm that the sins of the fathers will be upon the sons. To say that it is otherwise brings much of Deuteronomy into disrepute. The context of not holding others accountable for their children is purely in the context of a regular terrestrial judicial case. Wake up. 37:59 The Qur'an clearly supports the drinking of blood, an Eid for the first and the last. 38:19 Abrogation is disputed. To say that Yeshua abrogated the Torah's dietary laws is contrary to The-Qur'an where Allah states explictly, their food is lawful to you. It is a gross lie. 48:28 Al Razi points out the obvious but if you can't even read the translation properly how will you match the text to the Gospel? 49:57 Paul speaks of Yeshua in Gal.4:14, as Ehrman affirms, and this is what John wrote too. 56:58 Nabi had a relative through the blessed Khadija who was a scholar, also there were Jewish groups around who would have described them as Ha-Notsri so it is not really a miracle. What is amazing is how few Muslims even know this. 1:16:24 + The Qur'an addresses the ministry of Yeshua and only much later the state of things from around the early Dark Ages to the ministry of Nabi. 1:24:36 Allah certainly defines the title, The Messiah, through David and Shlomo Melek so if you don't know what that entails you had better sharpen your pencil and make some notes. 1:25:10 + No, no, no. 0/10 for these slurs. You then try to correct things, 1:33:47 + but blame Paul?! In fact Paul the Pharisee was much like the first three caliphs according to the hadiths but you won't mention that, either of you.

"Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils" - Isaiah 53:12 If the Christians believe that Isaiah 53 is talking about Jesus, then they should acknowledge that there are other great people of Jesus's stature who will be given spoil (rewarded) equally by God. Jesus will get only portion of that reward. Jesus is not the only contenders in the arena. As usual the Christians will not agree to that as "they always want to have the cake and eat it too"

I just came across this video recently. i am sad that both host and guest still spent precious time on false narratives. The last 40 years has produced more shocking knowledge about the Roman origins of the Jesus story and its intended purpose as well as the meanings of the several mysteries, riddles and numbers found in the Book of Revelation. I have written to the host Paul William about this but there has been no response from him. If anyone is interested in this new knowledge, read the book 'The Beast & His Mark Unraveled (2018): Ending the Mystery of An Era'. Thank you.

You are the one who's lost and you look down on us as if we need your guidance. We already have the truth. Educate yourself brothaman.

I will do a short write up, based on what I remember, on why Isaiah 53 is not talking about Jesus. This is beyond the “it means Israel” argument. I have not seen the video, not sure what the good doctor will talk about. The following is taken from Isaiah 53: He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. These verses describe someone who was the complete opposite of the Biblical Jesus. Wherever the Biblical Jesus went, crowds followed him, witnessed his amazing miracles and were left awestruck. For example: Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan (Mathew 4:25). “Now when Jesus heard about John, He withdrew from there in a boat to a secluded place by Himself; and when the people heard of this, they followed Him on foot from the cities (Mathew 14:13) “Jesus withdrew to the sea with His disciples; and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and also from Judea and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon, a great number of people heard of all that He was doing and came to Him. for He had healed many, with the result that all those who had afflictions pressed around Him in order to touch Him (Mark 3:7-10). There are dozens of verses that leave little doubt that Jesus was beloved by the crowds who followed him, saw him do wonders, even attempted to merely touch him for healing. He was hardly a man considered unattractive and undesirable. In fact, he was more of a rock star, if I were to use a contemporary phrase to describe him. You can try and bring all sorts of metaphorical musings and abstractions and make it fit the Jesus narrative, but that can be equally done by anyone. Another problem arises: Isaiah claims that “He was despised and rejected by mankind.” If we accept the Christian narrative, that Christianity is a religion based on truth and founded by Jesus himself, then Jesus stands to be the most beloved figure in all of history. If Christianity is true, then a major portion of mankind have received him and not rejected him. Isaiah claims that: He was assigned a grave with the wicked. This is false in Jesus’ case. He was never buried with the wicked. He spent some days in the Garden Tomb alone. There are cute ways that Christians try to force this verse to fit Jesus’ Biblical death and burial, but those are mostly wishful thinking. Did Jesus ever speak about Isaiah 53? According to my knowledge, Jesus never quoted Isaiah 53. If I am wrong on this, I am open to be corrected. It is strange because if he’s God, or even literate, he could have easily understood his role within the context of Isaiah 53 and quoted the verse to remind people that he is the suffering servant. This is problematic. A central prophesy in the Jewish Bible supposedly about Jesus and Jesus is unaware of it or does not have the mental and intellectual competence to use it to his own advantage. Isaiah 53 claims: Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer. Which lord? Was this referring to the Father or the Son? If it’s the Father, then this verse differentiates between God and the suffering servant and thus cannot refer to Jesus. If it’s the Son’s will, then it’s false because Jesus asked for “this cup” to be taken from him. He also protested on the cross as to why he was forsaken. In any case, Isaiah 53 clearly differentiates between the Lord’s will and the entity in question. Since Christians believe Jesus to be co-equal with the Father, this verse makes little sense if God was “crushed” by the will of God yet the same God protested to being crushed by his own will. Isaiah 53 states: he will see his offspring and prolong his days. As we all know that Jesus did not leave any offspring. Isaiah 52 should be read before reading Isaiah 53. There we read the following: his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness- 15 so he will sprinkle many nations,[d] and kings will shut their mouths because of him. For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand. Again this entity in questions is described as ghastly and ugly. Christians interpret this to mean that Jesus was beaten and was bloody. Interesting how such details are provided by the author of Isaiah, yet Jesus’ virgin birth, raising of the dead, innumerable other miracles are inexplicably left out. That would have helped all of us identity who Isaiah is talking about. Isaiah 53, however, makes it clear that being hideous and despised is an intrinsic character of this entity and not the result of being beaten and tormented: “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.” Again problematic because this does not fit Jesus an iota. Isaiah 52 talks about the power and influence the entity in question will have such that “kings will shut their mouths because of him.” What king of the world was even aware of Jesus’ existence let alone fearing Jesus? If the claim is that Jesus' doctrine and Gospel has overtaken the world, well that fails. Islam is overtaking it and fast.
