What a great lose to the Carnatic Music world. God's blessed child indeed....who else could maintain that fluidity, youthfulness and tonal balance in his voice till ripe old age.
The meaning of Samaja varagamana ,Tyagaraja kerthana was explained well. The lovers of carnatic music will be much pleased if other keerthana's also been translated in English or Telugu with meaning. I have fortunate to see the maestro Dr.Balamuraliksrishna's vocal concert. 🙏🏼

well said, hatsoff to the tamiz culture and importance and encouragement they give to carnatic music . Though he is from telugu community, the tamiz had shown no discrimination in terms of land and language politics . They gave him good accredation and stature elevation along side the gems like MSS amma and Semmangudi iyer sir.
It is an amazing performance. Telugu is richer than what? Sanskrit? Tamil? Kannada? India will move forward when people can appreciate without acting superior. Tamil is rich, ancient and Sanskrit is one of the very few oldest languages. Words in Sanskrit sometimes convey the meaning in the way it sounds too. Examples: Vajra =diamond, Kusuma = flower, katora = hard, mrdu = soft. Dasara padagalu in Kannada melt your heart. In Tagore's words Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls .......My Father Let My Country Awake."

The thing that most worries me is that North Indian and Marathi people as well fail to appreciate carnatic only because they don't understand it and hence kind of hate it. Dr Balamurali Krishna starts on a different pitch, than what the violinist, and presumably the rest of 'band' were tuned to, and then after the violinist very respectfully and hesitantly almost, plays his tuning, and then voila. Sabaash. and then Dr BMK is in perfect pitch a couple of tries later!? then, what an exquisite rendering.
mouli g marur, Nope, its just a normal variations in notes he make while rendering this particular krithi. He slides down a note while repeating the phrase every time until he is done with all variations. Also, he sings the whole phrase on just one particular note at the last.
Sri Jayanth has already explained. In fact the beauty in his concerts are variations and uniqueness. While he comply sampradaya, he makes the concert different. He is one among very very few I have seen, giving opportunity and encouraging instrument supports- this comes out of his confidence as a result of mastery in music.
