These videos need to be prime time television (instead of the dumbed down, patronizing, polarizing pronouncements we get from our news media ... and lately, from various government officials too.) Thank you for this John and Dr. Cohen! Keep up your good work!!!
If it was on TV, we would have to watch two groups of people with diabetes all gathered together in - for some reason - a warehouse. One group would be given a diet of vegetables and another group would eat pie and chips for three months. There would be lots of interviews, quite a bit of crying, and then hey presto! we would find out that - what do you know - vegetables are good for you. This would all take up an hour of airtime. Sorry, that sounds very jaundiced but I've got to the point where I can no longer watch TV documentaries...
@@zillie8167 Me too. I haven't even owned a TV for a decade now. It has freed up a lot of time to do more interesting and enlightening things, like taking a walk in the mountain or mending my old clothes or making wine, etc... all far better pursuits than a TV documentary. Although I have to admit, we made a doc that was somehow aired on TV in the UK ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mEC_qqn6epg.html ) and in my view, it is a pretty truthful and good one :-D But I totally agree with your sentiment. I can already picture the chips and pie and crying, haha.
@@tubthump No, you don't wonder that at all. It's just your passive aggressive way of saying something bad about Israeli's/Jews. If you actually knew anything you'd know that Israeli - Arab relations on the medical front are exemplary. Why don't you educate yourself before speaking.
I am a family physician like Dr. Cohen and I couldn't agree with everything he said more emphatically! His thoughts have gone through my mind very frequently the past several years. I began practice 33 years ago and it has changed a lot.
@@dr.froghopper6711 Well put!! I am just a nurse of 25 years, and if I have learned anything, it is that patients will usually tell you what’s wrong with them. It is as simple as that.
I imagine it is hard for a doctor to have the knowledge to treat at the drop of a pin 2,000 different patients needs. Patients need to be understanding. And doctors need to realize with diagnosis’s and internet a patient knows more about their condition than a doctor does. My doctor wouldnt have the time to spend hours to research my conditions. And he is not rude to me at all with my questions and suggestions. He has even asked me how do you know all this? I just smiled and said “I am researching for you. I know your a busy man.” He treats me with respect. Could be because my daughter is his patient and she is a RN.
We would all like a doctor like Dr Cohen, who listens to his patients, and takes into account the whole person. I think this interview would be a great springboard for young doctors in training.
Hmmmm... would love to hear from his patients about his wholistic approach to practice. Does he adhere to 10 minute appointments that allow the patient to speak about only one issue? Does he refer and advocate for appropriate treatments (physiotherapy, counselling, dieticians, exercise specialists etc etc), rather prescribing medication. He did not really speak about the professional limits of his expertise in assessing and intervening outside of medical intervention.
none of us gets it right all the time, myself included. It's not a simple juggling act but we should all try to correct our imperfections or minimise them and also apologise when we don't manage. I think also that we doctors should all be in some form of reflective counselling throughout our careers in order that we recognise our flaws and how our work and personal lives are affected and how to keep a balance.
@@GoodMusicLives Many topics could have been chosen for the interview. You have named some of them. Let's see if these good people talk again on another topic.
I also think that a doctor that is humble as well as knowledgeable acknowledges that he is a messenger rather then an all knowing human being. I think Dr. Campbell and Dr. Cohen are both great examples of that.
Doctors should also understand that patients have become acutely aware of the way Government have come to interfere with the medical treatment we receive from our Doctors or PA's. It does manifest itself into trust issues.
Very true. Ivermectin would be a prime example and not getting Vitamin D3 blood tests or info on the importance of this and other Vitamins and minerals in general which could cause less illness
@Will R Thomson not all of them Don't imagine most of them are escaping the powerful disinformation from the mass media and social media about treatment I sadly guess many are following the mainstream in a good faith Most likely their training is to blame for the youngest.. not used to be autonomous and think by themselves but to follow protocols edited by the medical industry
I’m a 44 year old woman. I have severe covid in both lungs. I was really disappointed to have to be hospitalized because I’m on the vitamin regimen. The dr. Said he never had a patient hospitalized or die while on said regimen. Once I was admitted into hospital the nurses took all my meds and supplements away from me. They said they found no use for me to be taking them to fight covid. Needless to say I started worsening in hospital. And thought maybe my supplements were really helping. I begged the hospital to give them back to me. I fortunately had a copy of older blood work showing I was vit D , vit c , zinc, magnesium and iron deficient. My dr. Finally gave them back to me. And really paid attention when I started improving . Within 24hrs the dr. Talked to me about going home with blood thinners, oxygen, daily virtual dr visits, and daily nurse calls. I agreed I would feel better if I could go home especially because I could get my meds in my system in a timely manner instead of waiting on a busy hospital who was often tardy during a shift change. Since being home , I’ve improved even more. I continue to pray that my improvement continues. Best of luck to anyone who is fighting the terrible disease. Oh and I live in a family of 4. In spite of vaccination status 3 of us DID get covid and my 16 year old DID NOT get covid . My son is not vaccinated and had a mild case of covid long before the rest of us did. My son is still not vaccinated but he is on the supplements to help prevent him from getting ill again. IMO, my son’s natural immunity helped out tremendously being he didn’t get covid like the the rest of his family. My husband was terribly disappointed that his vaccine did not keep him from getting covid. His case is not more mild either. He’s been really sick for 2 weeks now. My unvaccinated adult daughter had more mild symptoms than her dad.
Thank you, Dr Cohen, for realising that some of us are not 'passive', and can use our intellect to read peer-reviewed papers, pre-prints etc; and in time come to analyse and understand them by applying reason and logic; rigorously scrutinising and comparing.
I love having patients like that. Unfortunately, at least in the U.S., they are very uncommon. Science education in the U.S. is terrible at the K-12 level and even at university level unless you specialize in a scientific field. Another stumbling block is the paywall that many scientific articles are placed behind. *Cough* sci-hub *cough*
Absolutely! A typical patient with an uncommon disease or condition has researched and studied it 100x more hours than a family doctor did in med school, and probably longer than most specialists. You don't have to be a physician to be able to fully comprehend information from the same sources the docs use.
Well doctors, I am definitely smiling. You have restored my faith in the medical profession. Yes doctor Cohen I am a classic example of having type 2 diabetes for 20 years taking insulin. Remove all processed foods and went extremely low carb(have no sugar cravings) do not snack in between meals because I am fully satiated. Now doing resistance exercise for only a few minutes twice a week. A1c went from 89 to 41. No medication for the last two years. I feel like I’m 25 years old (I am 51 years old). So I am definitely smiling. It’s not advertised enough in the medical profession that you can reverse this disease of T2 diabetes. Your comment convinced me that you speak true science and have the modesty to adjust if necessary. I am sure I say for many of us listening we look forward to hearing more conversations between you both. Dr John you are truly a Godsend, and must get great joy in what you do for others. ❤️(Acts 20 v35)
This channel is pure gold, if I never watch anyone else my iPad has served its purpose and been a wonderful learning tool. To be able to access Drs of this calibre on a daily basis is fantastic. Thank you Dr Campbell for making this possible and thank you Dr Cohen, I wish we could clone you both.!! Warm regards Carol
In the book, Vaccination Condemned, by Eleanor McBean, PhD, N.D., the author describes, in detail, personal and family experiences during the 1918 “Spanish Flu” pandemic. McBean’s coverage of the 1918 “Spanish Flu”, as a reporter and an unvaccinated survivor, requires that the historical basis of the event needs to be revisited, not as a “conspiracy theory” but with evidence that will “set your hair on fire”. A few years ago, I came across another book by Eleanor McBean: “Vaccination…The Silent Killer”. McBean provides evidence that not only were the historical events of the 1918 “Spanish Flu” compromised, but also those of the Polio and Swine Flu epidemics. See the full blog entry here..
I sure wish I could find a doctor like Dr. Cohen. Most medical problems today are rooted in diet and lifestyle and education is more effective than expensive drugs. Hats off to you guys.
This is the relationship I have with my doctors and specialists in South Africa. I have a very rare auto-inflammatory disease and I do plenty of research and discuss developments with them. We work together. 💪
Have a look at Dr Tess Lawries new initiative ‘World Council for health’. She is trying to encourage people to take control of their health and not be reliant on Big Pharma who don’t have our best interests at heart. This initiative unlike WHO gives unbiased, non Big Pharma sponsorship. It would be lovely to have Dr Tess tell us all about the initiative. 💕💕
Most NHS GPs wouldn't even have a clue who many of their patients are. Lets face it in a group practice one hardly ever sees the same person twice. I remember back in the day our family GP knew my entire family - grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, siblings and how we all connected! When my grandmother died my mum asked Dr Smith if she could prepare her for the undertaker and he said "yes of course you can my dear". Its one of those little life events which has stuck in my memory. Can you imagine anything like that happening these days - lol!
Thats how it still is in italy where I am from, thinking of my "GP" Whoever he is....here in the UK, has been one of the scariest parts of this pandemic.
@@KKKaTTT123 Same. My GP in Italy was a childhood friend and knows the history of my whole family both on a personal as well as a medical/professional level. Here in the UK I just feel like another faceless number and that the GPs (thankfully not all) in the practice where I'm registered are apathetic/don't care.

Fantastic listening to Dr Cohen . I'm very much looking forward to the talk on iron deficiency. Profit from selling drugs seems to be more important than people's health these days in UK!!
I'm just gonna say, instead of adding my own experiences with docs, that it was nice to be included in a nice, calm, respectful chat between 2 nice gentlemen!!! 💕💕
Two way respect is important. I went to a doctor (in the 1970’s) and told him that I was worried about getting tetanus so he gave me a month worth of Valium and told me to come back in a month. When I went back I asked him if it wouldn’t be better to be vaccinated against it. He was shocked that I wasn’t (but I had moved from an area where it wasn’t a problem). Another incident was when my husband was diagnosed with bronchitis and given antibiotics. He was getting worse so he went back twice and got sent home without being checked. So I went with him and basically did a sit down strike until the doctor gave me a dirty look and listened to his chest. “Oh you have pneumonia!”
There are certainly some shocking drs out there.- You would hardly think they are medically qualified. Took about lack of commonsense!! It certainly is a rare commodity.
A friend was once VERY ill... although he was 32, his skin looked like he was 90 and had lost a lot of weight. He was terribly fatigued, yet could not sleep more than 15 minutes per night. I went to see his doctor with him. I tried to explain how OUT OF CHARACTER and weird my friend was, not even wanting to eat.... His doctor shrugged saying "He does not have diabetes". Within a month, my friend had a spinal fracture... which turned out to be due to a staph blood infection the doctor had not spotted!!! My friend needed 2 surgeries and 6 weeks in hospital. How bad service was it from the doctor? PS: the spinal fracture was put down to "osteomyelitis" as my friend found out only 12 years later when he needed to go to hospital again... this time heart attack. Most likely related to all those weeks of blood infection near the heart. Which could have been reduced significantly if only his doctor had listened.
My dad had an organ transplant, and a few months later ended back in the hospital with an intestinal issue. For a week his doctor kept trying to have him sign consent to remove part of his intestines and live the rest of his life with a colostomy bag, but he refused. Doctor was not happy.. Finally the doctor gave in and referred him to another doctor; new doctor suggested it was an allergic reaction with his immune suppresant. Switched meds, and next day he could eat again. Out of hospital the next day, back to normal and years later still healthy. I think this is an example that it would be dangerous if first doctor had ultimate power over decisions.
My brothers mother-in-law had to have a colostomy bag following an operation. The hospital later admitted that they needn't have carried out the procedure!
Dr Campbell, I have been following you for the last two weeks. You are brilliant, thank you for informing us with sensible, constructive information. Can't sing your praises enough.
Some of us have been watching for near on two years and he's still going strong. Absolutely amazing work and a great source of calm through the pandemic.
I was struck by how much Dr. Cohen felt the need to weigh his words. I was also quite pleased when Dr. Cohen started talking about diet, as he appears to take the Holistic Medicine approach, perhaps more than a pharmacological approach. I will differ a bit about NAFLD or fatty liver disease, in that I have seen reports where it can be "resolved" much sooner than 6-12 months upon adopting a low carb / ketogenic diet with perhaps some fasting included.
Mutually respectful relationships are far superior to mandates. Period. Both of you are terrific examples of what all compassionate medical professionals should be all about. 👍
Mandates also believe in only one solution for everyone (eg vaccination). They ignore all the other important issues and alternatives (eg VitD and Zinc).
I Started following dr Kampbel during the first months of 2021….after my son , living and working in South Korea introduced me to his short but very informative programs . At that time I felt more then worried as my doctor and a Family practice were I used to go for the past 20 years told me to ‘ take care of myself - as I will be ‘ on my own ‘ for some period of time . This is where dr Campels videos came as a ‘ source of information ‘ for what s going on …. I am very impressed with his willingness to inform , share and always learn more in such a modest and humble way . As for dr Coen , he speaks about healing in Medecine in a way that in this uncertain time brings sparkles of hope and goodness in human kind. Maybe in the 2022 would be realistic having telehealth appointments from Ohio with both of you fine doctors. Looking forward for your next joint topic . Dr Cohen, your a great doctor we need this type of doctor not the type who pick up a drug book and ask very little questions when we sit down in surgeries 😊👍
Had an experience when visiting a doctor. Told him how I was feeling. First thing he did was open a book. Immediately I stood up and said, don't waste my time, I had already researched my condition and walked out.
Thank you both for bringing me smiles this morning! I finally found a family doctor who, like you both, listened to symptoms, asked so many questions then suggested pre/probiotics daily and “try” turmeric and magnesium supplements, both of which has taken care of what I went to see him for. Your videos has helped me to be in the best of health at 74.
I am fortunate to have “accidentally found” my doctor. There was an announcement in the physicians’ lobby of this doctor joining the practice. I was looking for another doctor because the one I had was methodical, nodded a lot, penned notations and that was it. I needed interaction. Keep searching, good doctors are out there.

Thank you both, and a good reminder for health care givers, there must be a two way conversation. Not a quick dictate on what to do and then the dismissal of the consumer.
That was a great interview and gives me the courage to ask my doctor for a different type of conversation. To be seen and taken seriously as a person and not to be a refrigerator that is neither good nor repairable. That would be really great.
Anytime I went to my local GP Dr Richard Brady I always left feeling more educated because I annoyed him with questions but he always gave me time and explained things in simple understandable layman's terms. Never did I feel like he was unapproachable . We need doctors like this.
My sister saw an oncologist and she was young and covered everything without questioning. A young doctor. But now she sees the nurse practitioner instead.
Doctor: "don't think that your google search compares to my 6 years of medical school" Patient: "don't think that one hour seminar you had on my condition compares to my 20 years of living with my condition"
Hi,this chat between these 2 people is just wonderful and lets people know how to help themselves, and if needed how to relate to your doctor which is a win,win all around, thank you both
When my wife was very pregnant with our first child, we sat on the bed listening to the midwife as she talked us through what to expect. Just then a junior doctor popped her head round the door and asked if she could sit in as she hadn't been through a birth yet. My wife and I agreed and she came and sat with my wife and I and the midwife started again but with a much greater degree of detail. Me, my wife and the junior doctor sat like pupils, and all three of us would raise our hands to ask questions, which the midwife happily answered. It was so interesting and really positive to be given accurate, detailed, medical advice and to be treated like an adult and when my wife went into labour, we knew exactly what to expect and why. We always remember that amazing conversation with very fond memories. It might not be to everyone's taste but for my wife and I it was a unique and wonderful life experience.
Finally. I honestly believe with all the research available to us these days, some people are so aware of their health and health and nutrition in general. Not enough credit has been given to the patient. No one knows their body better than they do.
We may be more aware, but the bombardment from large food corporation’s and drug companies, just makes it easy for us to be complacent in our own health.
As a molecular biologist who taught immunology for 20 years, I would be cautious about that statement. Clinical physicians are differently versed in "the science", and also differently willing to cooperate with their patients' expertise. Med schools and internships teach clinical science, founded in basic science, but not necessarily expert in it. I'd also note that a good pharmacist is a better resource for drug actions and interactions that most MDs. But you're correct about patients knowing their bodies.
@@vanessageorgiades625 I'm pretty sure that a second opinion is a luxury which is not available on the NHS for us in the UK I'm afraid. It's just for the rich.
@@angrytedtalks Just not in my case then (and probably many others). If you have the patience read on... In Scotland spinal orthopaedics is legally exempt from the requirement to see the patient within any length of time. This is due to lack of staff as spinal surgeons are all practicing privately treating patients within as little as 24 hours in the very same NHS hospitals as witnessed by myself. After a years wait I was examined by a nurse for ten minutes, was actually swiftly given MRIs and soon received a letter informing me that I wasn't a candidate for surgery. At no point did a doctor see me. Subsequent letters from my GP to that department as my condition progressed over the next few years were met with answers from junior doctors that repeated the original diagnosis, probably without them looking at the latest x-rays as they constantly refer to their original MRIs. I was specifically told that a second opinion was not possible due to there being only one doctor senior enough in my NHS region and I would have to move to a different region in the UK in order for a second opinion to be funded. Nothing whatsoever I have said has been exaggerated. I was extremely disillusioned, upset and disheartened by this, however after hearing of a number of other people who had surgery for very similar conditions which resulted in paralysis, I have come to the conclusion that I was fortunate. After seven years my condition stabilised and has remained stable for the last three years, albeit with serious pain and have accepted my disability. Regarding everyone having the option to a second NHS opinion, well that may be true technically, but try getting one in a time of underfunding and you may find that their promises are worth absolutely nothing at all. I was naïve before my experiences, but now I understand how the NHS works. I would call it corruption, but we don't have that in the UK. Ha, ha.
We need more doctors with this considered, integrated and person centered approach. Self responsibility and empowerment to engage in understanding our health better. Removing barriers and normalising things to an extent. Watching this made me feel hopeful - I have experienced a lot of medicalised interactions and a sense of shaming, blame and negative attitude - as if things are 'wrong' 'the patients fault'. Many people want to be motivated and positive about their health - whatever challenges they come across to rebalance and feel well. I want a healthcare provider to work with as a team. What an amazing attitidue. Thank you
The whole world became politically correct. There are just a few issues you allowed to discuss openly. Thanks Dr. Cohen. People like you, we need them more.
My husband has reversed his type 2 Diabetes. He has lost 70 lbs. He is telling me he's never felt so good. His business associates don't recognize him when he attends meetings. We've been working at this for two years now and he's at the weight he was at the time of our marriage, 35 years ago. I'm so proud of him.
Such an important discussion. I've been a self starter all my life in researching health information and following as much as I could, which is why I follow this channel BTW. And began doing this before google or YT. I recently saw a new doctor and when she mentioned she thought I should take standard over the counter pain meds for joint pain I pointed out I was suspicious of their affect on hearing loss and other side effects - studied and reported on in certain people. I have hearing loss and am a musician. Her response to me was quite curt. "Oh, you have an MD in front of your name?" I ignored, sent her the studies by email. . . and will NEVER go back to that one.
That kind of attitude from doctors is way too common. They are super busy people there's no way they can be well read up on all the latest papers for all the conditions their patients might have... So to ignore or worse mock the research done by patients into their own health problems just seems moronic and short sighted.
Thanks for your story. I think my response would have been a little different. I'd send her a note and say-NO I don't have an MD after my name because I am not Mentally Deranged.
I hope I can eventually find a primary care physician with your combined qualities and philosophies. Dr. Cohen has earned my respect. So much was well said here. I look forward to the talk on iron.
Thank you Dr's Cohen and Campbell for these videos. The amount of information is remarkable and the delivery is perfectly understandable. I sure hope the good Dr Cohen agrees to speak about iron.
I’ve watched two interviews you’ve had with this doctor and his insights and experience are so refreshing. Although some of your questions may appear a bit obvious at first, I really get the reason you asked them, John. Thanks for all your videos, which I watch and look forward to every day!!!
I quite like this Dr Cohen. Seems unbiased and factual. Much better than that nutter from Western Australia he was getting reports from. Greetings from South Oz btw! 🙂☀️👍

Interesting, as I'm one that needs to know the whys and wherefores. It is not that I don't trust the doctor, it is the fear of the unknown and the worry of not knowing. I'm happy to give myself to things I can understand but adverse to being told "because I say so". Which is how the government are behaving right now. I like this guest doctor, thoughtful about his answers and understanding.
I found you because my husband was diagnosed with heart problems, we needed to understand what they were saying. So with your videos we drew the diagrams and then could understand and ask relevant questions.
John, I have found being a physician trained in England and practicing for 37 years in the USA, especially American but other countries physicians do not understand nor educated on nutrition and its diseases. Nutritionists are not physicians in nutrition! Physicians need more training in this area. You appear to be much better trained in this area than most. Great video.
absolutely. thank you. If I may add... if we are not educated adequately in medical school or in our postgraduate years, it is our responsibility to make this up.

@@gabriellakadar a wonderful idea...it exists as CME (continuing medical education) but needs developing for sure. I think the Dr and patient should be health partners - 2 years ago I lost my chosen Dr she moved to another city so had to use another in the same clinic while I found another - I had 6 bladder infections in 14 weeks and the Dr could not see a problem - perimenopause because of my age he tells me , I firmly insist on additional testing and had to twist his arm to get a letter to get this done - I had kidney cancer and I changed Dr's - 7 yrs ago my mother was told it was the stress of living with my father that caused her headaches, it was Glioblastoma diagnosed after she had a seizure - my son was told 4 weeks ago he could wait 16 hours in hospital with an inflamed appendicitis even those the pain meds didn't work, appendix burst and many weeks on antibiotics - my Maternal Grandmother died of a burst appendix - families have histories of things going wrong - there is a reason why they question Dr's
Sorry to hear about your experiences. Back in the day it was common to have a family doctor who would treat all generations of the same family. That was an ideal situation as he got to know how everyone related, what genetic issues were likely to crop up etc etc. Of course its not so easy now that families are often spread all over the globe and doctors don't stay in one place for so long.
If only there were more with Dr Cohen's attitude. Having moved around a lot I've experienced many doctors, and the majority have not been very helpful (unless presented with a straightforward, common physical ailment) and often condescending. Their knowledge of nutrition, which I believe should form a large part of their training, tends to be simplistic and rather archaic.

20 yrs ago I was responsible for putting the internet into high schools. Teachers, accustomed to being unquestioned subject matter experts, were initially unenthused. In researching my own health issues, by in large, most of the doctor's I've seen seem equally unenthusiastic.
Absolutely. Personally I have to many bad stories of terrible practices from doctors. Everything from not being able to draw blood and being used as a pin cushion after 10 or 12 tries to not ever curing an illness just making it much worse. Also a miss diagnosis from my local doc was partly the cause of my sister's death. Most doctors are not fit for purpose in my view especially if you have at least average intelligence. Just listen to your body and eat well.
@Will R Thomson I totally agree with you. My son's life was running in the balance but nobody would believe me and take it seriously even in the hospital and he was dead in about 5 days
