Live from Newcastle University in the UK, watch world renowned PBC expert, Dr. David Jones discuss PBC: Past Present & Future. With Dr. Gideon Hirschfield moderating.
Excellent. Very valuable. The influence of age on status and approach was particularly valuable. I do hope gastroenterologists and hepatologists, who do not see as many PBC patients as Drs. Hirschfield and Jones, will consider watching/listening to this video. Understanding what the patient needs and how to explain it to them is critically important and addressed clearly by both Drs. Jones and Hirschfield. I do wish that the topic of biopsy in diagnosis was covered a bit more emphatically. From my take on things, it appears that there are still quite a number of docs who are relying on biopsies, rather than ALP and AMA (and age) for diagnosis.
Wow. Very informative. Interestingly My parents were both born and raised in Cape Breton Nova Scotia and in a place where pretty well everyone were underground coal miners. My father included for a couple of years until he joined the army and then moved around the country and overseas. So even though I didn't live in Cape Breton but visited often I may have had this genetically. They all died young, before age 70 but had lots of symptoms.
