The sad things is we can all see and hear examples like this and society still judges and comments based on bias and color. There are many of us white guys who were boys growing up in the 70’s and 80’s on early rap and hip hop long before Eminem came along.
His first words when he heard his demo was, what the fuck and who the fuck is this? Then told Jimmy Iovine to rewind and play it repeatedly. When he was told Em was white, he said, fuck it, I’m still going to risk my career for him. The rest is history.
The only person who can truthfully narrate Eminem’s journey is Dr. Dre. No one else. That’s why I watched this speech from the very first tick of a clock till the end.
Dre confronted the racism in his own camp to work with Eminem. Collaborating together has been amazing for hip hop and music as a whole. Thank you Dre and Eminem.
Ppl so quick to say there's only black racism going on, we are ALL being oppressed, all colors under one god until we see that and stop the bullshit, its gonna continue.✌️
It’s not racism but more like disbelief so strong that it puts you in denial. Black communities were so used to white people shitting on them as a culture that they thought it was weird that a white person wanted to be a part of it for a change.
@@tb77let’s be honest, it’s more like equal parts mutual respect for their achievements in the industry/ (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`) /proverbial hardknock life, and [my personal belief behind his applause] a heartfelt, comedic jeer to every naysayer and Calamity Jane he’s shrugged off and trudged past throughout his whole life. Simply, Most of me believes it’s a sophisticated, nonverbal 𝒲𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝓁ℴ𝓋ℯ, ╭∩╮(ಠ_ಠ)╭∩╮
The saddest thing is that could really be a human race of great and extraordinary people, but some people will never want that because it will eliminate the class and power structure that keeps some people at the top and others at the bottom.
Thank you Dre for accepting Eminem the guy that break boundaries that hip-hop is not just a black culture.☺️ Eminem is the inspiration to all the race to pursue their career in hip-hop.😊
I think Dre is one of the most important people in modern music history. His love for music is undeniable and I’m glad he used prejudice as a motivator to change the mind of hip hop to include the most blessed mc on earth.
@@This_Is_Skooba he is truly inspiring. I was raised on music from all over the black the world. It was part of the parcel of where I come from. My dad listened to roots reggae dub lovers rock etc and I listen to dancehall bashment and ragga jungle. Hip hop never featured until I heard NWA and the breakaway artists from that unit kept that vibe alive. Then came Eminem 50 cent and few others. Any hip hop since then are just cheap imitations and poorly developed new ideas within the genre. The aspect of race was never a feature. We never listened to these genres because they were black it was more what it represented in lyrical content and track design. When I listen to black artists talk about this music as black music it’s offensive to me. It was never something to consider before recent years. Dre breaks those barriers he took hip hop to levels like never before. He should be the model for all that comes next in the hip hop world.
I can probably rap ever song he ever released. Eminem is the reason I'm alive. His music didn't only give me an outlet . It didn't only show me I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Most of all he showed me that it was okay to feel how I felt . That I didn't have to take myself or my circumstances so serious. I wonder how many suicidal kids Eminem saved.. We will never know. But I know my wife, kids , and family know at least one... Thanks em,
Eminem definitely was the next evolution of rap/hip hop taking it into another world. It's crazy how commercially successful he was even though he had the craziest and darkest lyrics ever heard in rap
That’s one of the best speaches I’ve heard. The partnership between Dre and EM impacted a generation worldwide in such a great way. There is no colour in music, only art
Nah.. in a million years or less no one will remember.. not saying the shit they made wasn’t legendary.. it’s just that time has a way of making everything go away eventually.. it’s called impermanence
Lmao in a million years or less? Lol obviously in a million years it's gone . How about they still talking and listening 25 years later and going. Music now is lucky to last 5 or 10 years
I am a senior citizen from Michigan and never cared for hip hop music...but when I heard Eminem before I knew his back ground..I was drawn to his lyrics. He is indeed the greatest in his field.
@jordonmcgilveary7164 making him black wouldn't make his fan base any different... how many lyricists on his level are rapping Weird Al, Tom Green, or Bloodhound Gang parodies? "Now that's something everyone can enjoy"
Wow, I’ve got a ton of respect for Dr. Dre. He calls it like it is and he didn’t let bias stop him from seeing the talent and encouraging that and guiding Em into his position as the best selling hip hop artist of all time! That fact blows me away. I have to respect the vision and the attitude of Dre. That’s a true man right there.
Imagine if someone else got that demo? things may have worked out so differently, dre was a legend for understanding the magic of Em. Many producers and labels would run from not only his color, but the crazy stuff he was saying.
Dre and Em have such a huge impact on the hip hop world and brought in the GOAT to boot. love the mutual respect between these two and I love how Dre explains it that they both needed each other. that collaboration changed the courses of hip hop..such huge respect for both these guys.
He actually used to be very silly and goofy. Even a bit hyperactive at times. I think his serious demeanor is a combination of growing up and his life experiences/sobriety taking a toll on him.
The reason i like Em is the same reason i like all of my favorite rappers. Kool G Rap, Mobb Deep and Nas took you on a walk through queens. BIG, MOP and Helta Skelta took you on a walk through Brooklyn. Cube, Snoop and NWA took you on a walk through compton/LA. Outkast took you on a walk through Atlanta/The South and Eminem took you on a walk through whyt trash trailer park America. Obviously, i like taking long walks and hearing the stories. 🎉
Whenever I see some of the ogs give no respect to em it's crazy... like first of all he lived and breathed the culture, he dedicated to his craft and brought us something truly different. Also every speech I see of em at an awards show he always gives respect to those that came before him and rappers he felt had extreme talent but less recognition I don't understand how all this time later when he's shown up and out for this rap shit and mfs who couldn't keep up with em even if he is tired
Don’t think em cares his got respect to one of the biggest ogs who started gangster rap in Dre and others like snoop dog and you look at the respect they along with 50 have for him he loved the industry and no doubt if pac was alive he would of respected em over most of these plastic rappers they have these days
I am from flint Michigan, I am same age as em, and never would have listened to him eary on if not him getting canceled by government, and since they made me listen to find out why he was canceled, his music has helped save my life.
Eminem has helped me through my struggles so I want to tip my hat to him cause his music inspired me...... now I knock down doors and walkvthe 8 mile motivational road.... thanks Em1luv
Dre has a form of understanding that you only get if you really pay attention... That's a benefit not many people have, the time to pay REAL attention. Still to me he's a very special individual, may god bless his soul.
I shed a tear or 8 watching Dre deliver that speech. I knew most of the story behind his signing Em despite some opposition, but had not realised how strong it had been. With hindsight to look back at that time, musically and culturally.. it's truly worth taking notice of how much stones Dre had, and how much of an impact Em has achieved. His point about offending basically every special interest group is understated, and I fear that the one thing that would hinder another type like Em trying to emerge in modern day, is being cancelled by the perpetually offended. Having seen Elton John duet Stan with Em back in ? 2001 and what was going on. was maybe something that would be impossible now.
This was very pleasing to see Ems hard work become so recognized and without a doubt happily narrated by the one and only Dre. Hell Yeah! And congratulations to you brother Marshall!! A.K.A. Eminem, SlimShady. You have deserved the recognition and I’ve been listening since Hi My Name Is! Also, Dre cracked me up so good with that and still getting more off chest. So true. You changed everything Sir. Much love to all the greats and Eminem. Nobody could have earned what they deserved. Wish you peace and Love Em! 👏👏👏☝️✍️☝️🖕👌🙌🫡💯
