Nice! The sculptura model was one of the early sandblast pipes. I remember reading something about an RJ Reynolds special deal. Man you do great work Tim!
Other than all the fills it’s a beautiful piece of briar. But they all covered well after applying the dye. Thank you for watching and I appreciate the comment.
Nice work restoring that pipe it looks so much better than before. My only concern is with using superglue on the stem. If the logo insert that was missing goes all the way through into the stem, filling it with superglue may become a problem when it becomes hot. We used "superglue fuming" in law enforcement (heating up superglue in a confined box) to activate fumes, which would adhere to fingerprints on evidence. This was used when conventional powders were unable to adhere to the print for collection. The fumes were toxic to breathe and we wore respirators while working with it.
Grabow's (IPAL nowadays) quality control has gone to hell in a hand basket, but the old ones are great smokers. I'd buy that one if it's for sale, Tim.
Thank You. Here is a link to the cleaner. Not cheap but lasts a long time. Way better than Oxyclean www.lbepen.com/product-page/16oz-bottle-of-extra-strength-deoxidizer I also have a review video on their products. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u-x9y98SL40.htmlsi=X6QZ3Jd9fgO-BkI0
Hey Tim, I noticed that you are working on a new black mat instead of the paper that was on a roll. Is that rubber, or something else that is made for what you are doing? Just curious. Tom
I just a large black cutting board. Just easier to take care of and very durable. Thirteen Chefs Large Cutting Boards for Kitchen - 24" x 18" x .5" Professional HDPE Plastic Chopping Board for Carving, Dicing, Mashing and More - Commercial Grade & Dishwasher Safe, Black a.co/d/g92szTk
I use alcohol and cotton balls. Much easier to remove from the pipe. But if I really want to clean a pipe I use a retort. Here is the link to my video. It does such a great job of cleaning a pipe. @@charliedelgado5268 I would use pipe mortar. Here is a link to CaneRobPiper’s video to make it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bq0mOVw8cuY.htmlsi=qI0Iae2vEosTk2gC
I use Before and After briar cleaner. As far as removing the finish, most pipes retain their finish but sometimes it will remove some of the finish. Here is the link www.lbepen.com/product-page/before-and-after-briar-cleaner
