We (the viewers / consumers) are SO fortunate to now have access to individuals such as Dr. Ali - I truly believe there is hope for those who take responsibility and charge of their health, who appreciate the limitations on knowledge of too many medical practitioners and seek to educate themselves to remain involved in their own healthy life journey. Thanks to the Low Carb Conference team for bringing these talks to our screens.

A lot of people in the comments seem to be missing the fact that this doctor is himself a low carb eater for many years and he does advocate for the low carb lifestyle, also nowhere does he suggest we should be eating low fat low carb, or low fat high carb. He is merely advocating against over consumption in general, and advocating for regular exercise and intermittent fasting, all of which have thoroughly proven health and longevity benefits.

The most common "fat" that no one mentions and also automatically assumes we are talking about animal fat, is seed oils that are in every single processed food. These are the low quality "fats" that are rapidly altered into the rancid fats that cause negative conditions. Animal fats are rarely doing the same.

On the subject of his last statement: There are thousands of carnivores who didn't restrict saturated fats when they started on the WOE.Their levels of obesity were high but they lost hundreds of #s in record time without toxicity by eating up to 80% animal fat to 20% protein. I would think that for those who haven't had good weight loss to get together with a carnivore doctor to have test to find out why. Sure,some people might have genetic problems that require a different approach to carnivore/keto but most won't. Removing the sugar/carbs and veg/seed oils is going to remove most,if not all the toxins that affect our mitochondria. When we stop eating toxic oils the effects of consuming them don't go away instantly,either. It takes a lot of time to get them out of our bodies so there is that factor among others such as oxalate toxicity.

Dr. Ali is one of the best in the low carb MD space. If you have a chunk of fat to lose on your body, you need to dial down the carbs and eat leaner cuts of meat so that your body doesn’t use the fat from the meat you just ate, but rather from your body’s own fat instead! This is the way. Fast. Eat lean meat. Some veggies and exercise religiously. This is the message he is sending ❤
@seanveach950
@seanveach950 Год назад
Yeah, still have to be careful with lean meat. Too much causes issues too. It is about not eating too much, but trying to go lean, especially in the beginning can be brutal. Veggies optional. Exercise yes.

Taking fat in alongside protein, helps with the proteins' digestion, as well as with absorption of fat soluble Vitamins. It also assures adequate bile production towards maintaining healthy gallbladder function; thereby facilitates detoxification, stimulation of peristalsis, and lubrication of the intestinal lining to prevent constipation, etc. If weight gain is a problem; rather fast more in-between consuming proper meals, which include enough healthy fats/oils.
@mikafoxx2717
@mikafoxx2717 6 месяцев назад
IT doesn't have to be lean turkey or something, just reasonably so. Like whole chickens instead of eating 30/70 beef. get your protein in and up and lower the fat for the needed fuel. I do better with less, after cutting down on the sausage and bacon. Eggs and regular lean ground meat is a good balance of just a bit more protein than fat by grams.@@maricamaas2326

The kick the body into using fats for energy. The first month or two high fat! After that drop down and start burning nearly only body fat. I’ve done this and my ldl is 26 my hdl is 105. My A1c is 4.1. I had an open hernia surgery and my surgeon said he’s never seen anyone have so little visceral fat. Oh by the way in 2018 I was 500+lbs and my labs were horrible. 3 months after starting I had labs much like I have today. this has me thinking that my move to carnivore (largely consisting of ribeye, ground beef, butter, eggs), and upping my fat to ~150g/day has put my body into a state of inflammation (High h-CRP, ferritin, total cholesterol over 700, LDL 638, Tri 103, HDL 48) and that for whatever reason the high fat low carb high protein approach doesn't work for me. I'll give the low carb low fat protein sparing approach a go but I think it's going to be hard. Giving up carbs was easy when you have delicious animal fats but just eating protein seems like it will be very hard for a number of reasons.

LCHF and carnivore did the same for me plus libido disappeared, and ED started, losing sensation and feeling down below.... I've switched to the opposite now and 20g fat a day, starches(potatoes and rice), fruit and lean meats and everything has gone back to normal (TF!!)... I watch my BG and initially the spikes were huge after a rice meal for example, but now the spikes are less severe and in line with the OGTT I can eat say 200g of basmati rice with 300g of chicken in a meal and the BG is just over 110mg/dL at ONE HOUR after eating...it's being dealt with and fast- there's no energy collapse after a meal either, no "crash".... I'm just trying to avoid mixing fats and carbs too much and seed oils and wheat products are forever a no-no... There is no "one size fits all" with diet, and the high fat diet for me is a disaster.... LDL back from 400+ to "just" 200 ish, and my HDL has dropped significantly from mid 60's to 35, but that can be expected with a low fat diet (look at advice on how to raise HDL- it's eating fat basically)

Maybe this: "What is PSMF? A Practical Guide to the Protein Sparing Modified Fast The PSMF Diet or Protein sparing modified fast is a very low calorie, low carbohydrate and high protein diet designed for rapid weight loss without causing muscle loss." Low calorie seems to mean both low carbs and low fat. But that's for losing weight. I guess higher fat after that. In my experience low carb high fat makes you less hungry. So you loose weight gradually ower 1 - 1.5 year. After that, you are so used with eating high fat that you may have to hold back on it.

Was he advocating here for 'MOVE MORE EAT LESS'? (Would be interesting to hear him discussing this with Jason Fung 😅) And why now to be bringing up once again the issue of increased Cholesterol production; had it not been put to rest? Those patients struggling to lose weight, probably are consuming too many meals, without fasting enough inbetween? Not in order to be blaming much needed healthy saturated fat/oils ingested with protein. Had found 'Fasting/Feasting/Repeat' the way to go for losing weight easily; this without restricting LCHF whole food calories on feasting days... For example eating one day, and then fasting the next - alternate day 36-40h fasting (ADF).

Dr. Ali, this is soooo backward. There a lots of new scientific studies that what’s causing the fats deposits is the the carbohydrates and sugars, not the fat intake … unless you are referring to poliunsaturated fats or transfats

I have tried both sides . Clean eating (oats, rice, buckwheat, whole grain pasta, veggies, lean chicken lean beef, salmon ), apple a day, cheese. Works incredibly well for fat loss for looking lean . Tried keto, after couple of month body asks for some Nutrition, cravings . With carnivore I get chubby . I think the fat we eat is the fat we wear .And after some time I start to crave vegetables and fruit .

You must have done keto terribly wrong. I got obese, very sick and lost decades of my life to whole wheat, then lost 20kg in 9 months (and eliminated multiple serious health issues) by stuffing my face with as much pork and eggs (both drowned in butter) as I wanted, and nothing else. I still eat as much as I want at 85% fat 15% protein, and I'm still losing weight (though more slowly than before). I went carnivore six years ago and I'd rather die than go back to being miserable all the time.

@anir8023 One thing you said was wrong. The fat you eat isn't the fat we wear. If you eat too many calories, the carbs you eat is converted into fat. So, the fat you wear are the carbs you ate. Contraintuitive, I know. So how not to eat too many calories, you ask. That seems to take care 9f itself if you eat high fat, low carbs. Fat simply makes you less hungry. Have you ever been eating a large sandwich, and been hungry within 2 - 3 hours? Many have, and never drawn any conclusions from it!

I'm not sure I believe in "Insulin Resistance". To me it seems people eat more than they use or need, and 3 large meals a day is unnatural, unless you're very physical most of the day on a regular basis. For some low carb diet can make their liver release more glucose. The only difference between carb and protein is nitrogen. So high protein can become glucose, but with more uric acid byproduct that comes with protein metabolism. With high protein animal products including fish and seafood comes cholesterol, just the way it is. So plant and bean based proteins may be a better alternative. The body prefers a certain balance with glucose or cholesterol and many other things and does what it can to maintain it. To me it seems the parameters and number ranges the medical and pharmaceutical community suggests may not be realistic or natural. That way they can sell you products and services.
@larsnystrom6698
@larsnystrom6698 Год назад
@asherasator I belive in insulin resistance. You eat wrongly, which usually means too many carbs. You get insulin resistance, and that makes you eat more, simply because the body can't use it right. So, you get fat. It isn't, as many belive, that you get insulin resistance because you get fat. It's the other way around!
