Dr. Pedro on the Liberation of Africa 

I really appreciated the last question of this interview and Dr. Pedro's discussion on mental decolonization... this battle we must win. As an artist, I am thinking about how our cultural expressions have always been under attack by oppressive regimes as these are elements inherent with us that can move energies and they are the blackest parts of us--cultural/spirituality--the two forms that are always being repressed. Relegated to "Arts" these are actually tools that can uplift, heal, and move nations, i.e. Ayiti--a prime example of the innate power of music and dance as an uprise and revolutionary act...same with the Pantsula Youth Movement... these forms of Black expression are often overlooked in the liberation of Africa. I wonder how the reclaiming of our culture can help us with this battle to emancipate ourselves. Great interview-informative and inspiring. Thank you.
