Unfortunately, what is called “adoration” in some parishes involves ongoing songs, or songs interspersed with prayer, but there is always some form of audible worship going on. When I first experienced this, I had just moved from one parish to another and found in my new parish, there was adoration, so-called, only for one hour a week: 5 to 6 p.m. on Saturday evenings. And there was almost always some singing or praying going on. I found that most of the parishioners who attended adoration there thought this was the normal way of having adoration. However, at my former parish where we had perpetual adoration, 24/7, there was a total absence of noise. Any talking at all was forbidden.(At aa third parish I attended, there was no formal singing or praying, but adorers felt free to whisper to one another any time about anything, even casual chit chat. I was outraged, and later when I spoke to people about it, they were embarrassed by my Christian “fervor.”) If there was some pressing need to communicate, it was done quickly in a lowered tone, and only the bare minimum was said. Needless to say, I missed my old parish very much, where I had never given a second thought to how adoration should be done, assuming it was totally silent everywhere.

There is no comparison between TLM and NO. After my first LM experience I couldn’t help but ask myself, “why or why would we ever abandon this beauty?!”

Hi, what you must remember is that in the Roman rite of the church which says the Latin, the tradition has always been to keep things simple. Pope Benedict actually mentions learning this back in the 1940s when he entered seminary, there were talks back then that the mass had to be revised bec certain prayers and traditions that may have been good in themselves but did not belong in the mass had crept in. This was accomplished at Vatican 2. The Latin mass which I grew up with, is no doubt a beautiful ceremony and mystical but that is the spectacle, this may feel good but it doesn't mean you have engaged in the highest form of worship. In the 20 years, I spent saying Latin mass with the SSPX I never truly engaged in it. But I find the NO mass not as much of a spectacle and at first, it was hard to get into bec of the mystical feeling I would get at traditional mass but it was easier to actually engage. I find the more you study scripture the more the NO mass which is also the Latin mass comes alive. Study the facts behind the traditional movement, it doesn't actually add up. God bless

Commercial real estate, Amen. Very well said. It's undeniable. The TLM is the fullness of the Mass, of our Catholic faith and heritage. Why would we as faithful Catholics want to settle for anything less? God bless you.🙏 I was born post vat II, and discovered the TLM in 2003, after the promoting of my aunt, a traditional Benedictine nun, who took her religious vows seriously and devoutly. A great old school nun. I'm so glad she prodded us to go, because something just clicked when we started going. Nothing compares to the TLM, IMO. God bless 🙏 you. + 🕯️🕊️

The Traditionalist The Traditionalist There is no contradiction between the lofty/mystical/transcendent focus of the Extraordinary Form and conscious, fully liturgical participation in the Mass by the faithful. I have attended a diocesan Mass in the Extraordinary Form for about a year and a half, and many parishioners (myself included) regularly sing the chants of the Ordinary (understanding every word thanks to weekly repetition) and follow the Propers in our missals. In addition to that, and in no opposition to it, various signs within the liturgy that something truly sacred is taking place (the use of Latin, incense, beautiful vestments, sacred music, etc.) inspire me to reach up to God in silent, contemplative prayer, and also to make personal acts of adoration, contrition, thanksgiving, and supplication. It is as the Catechism of the Council of Trent stated: “The Sacrifice (of the Mass) is celebrated with many solemn rites and ceremonies, none of which should be deemed useless or superfluous. On the contrary, all of them tend to display the majesty of this august Sacrifice, and to excite the faithful when beholding these saving mysteries, to contemplate the divine things which lie concealed in the Eucharistic Sacrifice.”

During my first TLM, I thought, "Wow, I should have always attended this instead of the Novus Ordo." Now, I novus ordon't. :) I've abandoned the Novus Ordo for the TLM.

This is great to see this crossover if you will, Peter Kreeft is also committed to the Charismatic Renewal, but also loves the Traditional Latin Mass. I know many charismatic Catholics who also love the TLM, praise be to Jesus!

The Anglican Ordinariate celebration of the Holy Mass established by Pope Benedict XVI for Anglicans who wished to be in full communion with the Catholic Church following the ancient Old English/ Anglican Tradition, is the closest English version of the mass to the TLM. It is not the Novus Ordo. I believe this is the Mass said in England even before the Protestant revolt. It is eerily similar in its rubrics as the Latin Mass and would be a good template to reform the Novus Ordo. It is astonishing how the Lord works in preserving this English Tradition which might be used widely in the Roman Rite to set things right and counter Bugnini's heretical reforms.

It IS the Novus order properly celebrated. I passed through the Irdinariate, and still sometimes worship there, but this Mass was written by Thomas Cranmer. I thought I was uncomfortable there because the chant was not my patrimony. No, I do not choose to attend a Mass that people DIED not to attend.

I'm noticing that nearly all the lay people interviewed on this channel make a living from being "professional Catholics".

Latin or not. This priest or that. I go to mass to worship God. How much I participate will depend only on how much I put my heart to it.

No doubt there are numerous holy people, outstanding Catholics who attend NO, but the numbers don't lie. There was a study done where it showed that those who attend the TLM tend to be more devout and believe in Church doctrine when compared to the average NO parishioner.

Latin, along with Hebrew and Greek, are inherently more holy than other languages because they were used on the inscription of the Cross. These are all sacred languages to God and make prayer more efficacious, all other things being equal. Father Ripperger discusse this at length.

The Tridentine, Latin mass is superior to other forms of prayer because it directs us to the WORSHIP of GOD. I do not see God being WORSHIPPED and ADORED in other “religious get-togethers;” I see people applauding people; man “worshipping” man.

He mentions attending the Anglican ordinariate and using the anglican book of common prayer, as well as the KJV Bible... isn't the KJV lacking the complete canon of scripture? Also has many mistranslations even to this day!

Scholars of classical Latin will all, to a man, state that Ecclesiastical Latin is an inferior product to Classical Latin. Therefore if the Church does praise God in Latin, it ought to be of the highest quality. And it is not. Ergo... it needs to be abandoned. "Ite, missa est" - words I used to love.
