One of the best things to prep for is job loss. If you're out of work, having a stockpile can be a life saver

He was so worried about a " catastrophe nuc bmb, etc..." he neglected his heart health/ a ticking time b..omb ...inside of him that took him out...

There's so many prepping vlogs on RU-vid, Dr Phil is the last one I'd take advice from. I will say, if it hits the fan I believe we won't be able to trust anyone. Heck, families are turning on each other over who they vote for, let alone "Armageddon". Your immediate situation, meaning who's under the same roof, is the only one's to trust. Not cynical, just realistic about human nature. All I can do is hope and pray that if it happens, it's the return of our lord and savior.

OK but more labor for room and board. got meat and ammo to trade? we can talk. Need a drink? I make my own. Eggs you want? Chicken or Quail? Meat you want. what do you want? fish, beef, pork, poultry, Wild game. Freeze dried, canned, Dehydrated. YOU have to think out of the box. Hunt with air guns. pellets are just fine to hunt small game. Spend $300.00 on a air gun and you can bag deer and wild pigs with a air gun. Then there is archery to work with Take care of your group. Your group will help take care of you. I have air horns. and neighbors that I am close with. I do not have a HUGE amount of thunder sticks. I have a couple black powder, a 30-30 and some shot guns. and a few cross bows, and a compound bow. and 5 air riffles. I think I am good. Heck I am even setup to do large scale laundry. 2 halves of 55 gallon drums to churn laundry. massive grills stocked with hard woods. under tents. Harbor freight 10x17 tents. We are Floridians so prep is our middle name, we live in a small apt but we minimalized this past year, no more trinkets, just kept absolutely what we need & important stuff we cld not part with, there are no souvenirs, stuffed animals, extra plate settings etc. In doing so, it free's up valuable space for preps. I have 4 stackable 7 gallon water jugs in my closet and several 1 gallon collapsing ones on top of bottled water. I have a rocket stove, fire starters, solar lamps, crank box for solar power/radio, batteries, VTOMAN power station & solar panel, small camp stove and a Vesta stove used with canned heat, cotton balls/vaseline, baggies, port toilet, 5 gallon cans of rice & flour (holds 30 lbs rice & flour) stacked in closet, longterm food cans and canned goods in cloth baskets in various places, I still have room under our couch to put more, a yrs worth of TP, soaps/deodorants etc. I bought stuff in 2020 and used it last year. Lots of mylar pasta & beans and some in mason jars w/oxygen absorbers, extra sugar and buy your salt at Sams much cheaper in bulk. We have extra lighters, waterproof matches, canned heat, metal plates to lay the vesta on and one concrete block to use under the rocket stove if needed & radiation pills & much more. You can never be too prepped. Just because you live in an apt doesn't mean you cannot prep, plenty of ways to make space. If you need to buy only $5 a wk that's ok. It starts adding up.

I have been an extreme couponer for most of my life. I considered it my part time job to help stretch my grocery budget. I could have $500.00 on the register, and it would come down to $50.00. This is where my stockpiles happened. Then we bought a freeze dryer 8 years ago, and i would freeze dry leftovers so none of it was wasted. We had a small yard and always had a few tomato plants, cukes, basil, peppers sweet and hot, mint, zucchini, green beans, and some flowers growing. That little garden helped with the grocery bill too. Friends and family saw my stash in our basement and said it was like walking into a small grocery store. I expanded to canning food too. Ready meals in a jar. Just heat and eat. Those meals were made when sale prices on meat were at a bargain price. And some were freeze dried too. I had to do all of this because of a very tight budget. I learned all of it from my grandparents. They were frugal and careful how they spent their hard earned pay. Learned hunting and fishing from my grandpa, and cooking, baking a d canning from my grandma. When the lockdowns happened, we were the few that didnt need the grocery stores at all. We were prepared. Prices today are going higher and higher every month. It's imperative for us to buy when prices are their lowest and in bulk. Only sale items and we grow food too. We moved onto a huge plot of land now with chickens for eggs and mini jersey cows for all of our dairy. We have a food bunker/emp bunker for just in case that we built on our land underground. Our solar arrays and solar generators will provide our energy. We are blessed. Neighbors around here all have large food plots and animals. I wouldnt call them commercial farmers... it's just their way of life for their family. So if SHTF ever happens... i know everyone around us would all be "prepared." I guess we could be called preppers out of necessity, and it has become our way of life too.

Think about if we truly go into a depression. The last depression had lower population, way more farmers, and homesteads. People were also less divided. Most people knew how to fix, mend, cook, etc. They banded together and had the skills to survive. Get food, water and filtration, protection, first-aid, and learn some skills: gardening, sewing, animal husbandry, fishing/hunting, butchering, scratch cooking, food preservation...

I learned a lot from my grandparents who were just small children during the great depression. My grandma grew up on a farm and my grandpa grew up in the city. He said there were many times he was hungry for days because there was very little to eat. He shined shoes for pennies at 7 years old. I can't even imagine. They moved further into "suburbs" away from the big city and it was better for them. He learned to fish, hunt and work the land. I heard a lot of stories. I spent my summers with my grandparents and learned not to waste anything, repair it until it can't be repaired and then save parts. I am thankful for them, because they prepared me for life. I raised my kids that way too and they are prepared.

When prepping becomes the topic of a Dr. Phil show, you have to ask yourself what the producers of the show know, and what 4 AM talking points they were given. We're talking about a show where most of the audience could not tell Mountain House from Mickey Mouse. We're talking about people who've been asleep for the past four years. Someone is trying to get their attention for a reason. Something big is coming, and I see this as an attempt ratchet down the level of future panic in these people. Here's what I prep for and, quite frankly, everyone should prep for because it's not overly complicated, and you can scale up from them if necessary: >Weather Emergency. I'm in the northeast US. A severe winter weather event can mess up the supply chain for a week, give or take. A tropical weather event (we haven't had a real one up here since 1938) will probably cripple the supply chain for at least a month to possibly two months. >Job loss/homelessness. I understand code dates on food and how they work. That knowledge means I know I have at least six months to one year of food set aside to cover this. Cash off the table means you can operate out of a self-storage longer than you can operate out of an apartment. Hard, physical assets are your last line of defense. >Hyperinflation/economic collapse. The Covid hoax allowed me to stockpile 7 to 10 years' worth of gear. The only thing I need to continually buy are wool work socks and work uniform pants. What did I acquire years in advance that I don't have to chase now? Bug out bags and sleeping bag (rated to -40 with Gore-Tex cover bag). Without even looking at prices, I'd venture to say that the prices of these items today have increased 100% to 200%, if you can find them. What will you drive yourself crazy preparing for? >WWIII. No matter how advanced a prepper you are, you will not be 100% prepared for this.

I also watched an interview on Canadian Prepper with Curtis Stone and one thing he said on there really hit home and it was disturbing. He said 90% of people have no agency over their own food supply; meaning that many people are solely dependent on their food from stores. Apartment, condo, small lot you can still grow a little food. I think apartment growing gives false hope. To feed one person seasonally requires 1/4 acre. Just my two blackberry bushes require 10ft by 4ft of space, and from them I can get 70 pound of blackberries. If there were "prepper levels" from 1-5, 5 being the huge under ground plush bunkers etc, I would be a three. That is my comfort level. I cannot become a carpenter or electrician or hike for miles in this life time. I can eat, stay warm, put antifreeze in my car, change a tire. I am looking forward to canning what I harvest from my own garden and have iodide tablets ( for dog also). I can shoot and have a guard dog that loves me. Beyond that, I will leave it in Gods hands.

I started "prepping" slowly. First it was a small deep freezer, because every time I wanted a ribeye steak, they were not on sale. I thought it would be cool if I had a deep freezer to load up for eating sale steak any time I wanted. Then I bought a vacuum sealer to seal meats. I got to thinking about how prices rising would limit what I could buy. I discovered freeze dried food and thought, gee, if that stuff is good for 30 years, I could store some of it for my retirement, to combat future inflation. (I was right! Most of those foods are now double and triple the price!) Also, my brother up in Michigan was a prepper, so it was like a lightbulb went on. Time to study this stuff and get a few flashlights, batteries, lanterns and extra water. I've now been at this since 2008. I never "panicked" over it, just picked up or ordered things as I could afford them. Used coupons to offset the cost and repackaged a lot of rice, beans, pasta, sugar and paper products. Good show, Danno! We're not "crazy", we're self sufficient, believing that it's up to us, as individuals to take care of our own needs. That's all.

I started "prepping" after Katrina and was pretty consistent ... for a while. Then, I only stocked up a little bit here and there until the end of 2019. Something told me that I needed to do better. I started buying more things in bulk I learned to use my pressure canner to can meat ... and I upgraded to a better one while it was affordable. I found some You Tube channels who practiced safe canning and bought some approved canning books. I also bought canning supplies as I found them. The last couple of years, I tried (unsuccessfully) container gardening. I have an assortment of seeds and will keep trying. Don't forget personal hygiene, kitchen supplies, clothing, anything you u se on a daily, weekly, monthly ot yearly basis. Make a list, if you have to, of every item you pick up. Keep important documents where you can grab and go if necessary. I have given copies to my brother (executor) and my niece ( my attorney). Also, don't forget to keep some cash where you can get to it. Banks don't work when the power is out. Neither do gas stations.

I don’t remember the last time I watched Dr. Phil but I watch your channel almost every single day and seeing myself on the wavelength as someone like you on things gives me some validation. I was prepped for a major emergency back in 2013 when I had a brain hemorrhage. My wife really had no idea until she started digging around. When I started coming out of a coma she asked me why I didn’t tell her we had a stash. Those were different times and the first thing that came to mind was “You never asked.” LOL. I was able to take my time and focus on recovery. Sadly our daughter has not followed in our footsteps. Neighbors looking out for one another is the only way we get through something really ugly.

You do a little bit of everything. Odds as you won’t be 100% prepared with whatever it is. I was a little bit of everything cause you don’t know what you need and you can’t have everything, but you can be a lot more prepared than a lot of people.my sister who is 77 has extra food set aside I’ve sent her some freeze dried food. And she does have a little bit of a garden in your yard so it saves little bit of money and she can grow things better than I. And it doesn’t really look like Food because it’s all mixed up with flowers, but she knows what is what and some make salad and some will do other things.

Out of 39 percent, certain percentage always doesn't tell what they actually think. That's true about the rest. Let say that someone think that they are going to do something, but something else will always get on the way. Some may actually get some food, and it will go bad. Let say it's rice, and it will get infested. These people will throw it away and will never want to hear about "the whole thing" ever again. In other words, if it was not orchestrated (remember that it's a show, and not the real life), most people will do nothing.

I know when I watch the sales with the food if nothing happens I’m saving money on the food. Whatever I buy this week I might not have to buy for two months because of the item that I bought so overall our food bill has come down because I only buy what’s on sale 98 to 99% of the time. I need it or I just want it. It’s not on sale but the time I’m buying something is on sale or economical that will fit. I don’t buy stuff that we don’t eat or enjoy. Some things I buy for the kids like cheese. I don’t eat cheese. I don’t like cheese. But they make a lot of casseroles and eat with them five days a week and they leave a portion with no cheese on the meal. So I buy the cheese on sale. And I get lots of leftovers they feed me very well

Problem I have with the vast majority of preppers is their unrealistic expectations of what it will actually look like. They tend to prepare for the short term ( a couple of weeks or at most a month) where everything is fine and everyone holds hands and sings kumbaya around a campfire. They aren't prepared for 6 months to a year or longer when the canned food they have been buying runs out or the power doesn't come back on and you run out of gas for your generator so the refrigerated food starts to spoil. Most are like well we'll just fire up the ol grill which is fine and dandy but everyone within distance can smell your steaks and hamburgers cooking and just like that you are an easy target. That's just the easy part then you have to worry about hygiene because most likely the water isn't going to work and the vast majority of wells run off power driven pumps. If you do have a creek or something similar you can't bath in it and risk contaminating your only source of clean water. What are you going to do for defense when the bullets run out because this isn't The Walking Dead where 6 yrs later you still have enough ammo to fight a mini civil war. A lot of people will die within the first 6 months
