The definitive study of successful problem solving, fully revised and updated In 1975, Dr. Richard Bandler co-authored a pioneering book, The Structure of Magic Volume 1, which revolutionised the way people worldwide thought about the language and psychology of problem solving. Now, almost 50 years on, this seminal work has been comprehensively revised and updated, presenting further powerful insights which will again transform the way we approach the problems we face in the modern world.
Dr. Richard Bandler, co-creator of NLP, also known as Neuro-Linguistic Programming, conducts NLP seminars, NLP workshops, and NLP training seminars internationally. He continually develops new human change technologies.

31:40 "I'm the guy that doesn't care where your problems came from because the best thing about the past is that it's over and the best thing about the future is that you can do whatever you want with it." Richard Bandler Up until about a week ago, I hadn't know much directly about Richard Bandler but had an inkling of the effectiveness of NLP because, well, words have power and meaning. (See: Rev. Ike after this if that's news.) The way RB sits back after saying the statement above is a nice #micdrop. Earlier, ~ @27:40, he gave a quick tutorial of how to minimize / reduce /eliminate the grip of negative thoughts, so this micdrop moment is well-deserved. It's not smug bc he walks his talk 👏

Over time it turns out that if you try to save the whole world you end up saving no one. Dr. Bandlers approach tries to save those who want to be saved, or at least make people realise they need to be saved, and thats a much better strategy. Pure Gold.

Dr. Bandler, it's absolutely true how stiltifying most classrooms are-- including in classes with well-bonded teachers and students. Publicly-financed public charters may have the new start but many are still doing the same old things. There's no freedom for the average student until the adults have basically gotten over the fascination with them because they're no longer new. At least then, teenagers have some freedom from complete micromanagement but their brains are not imaginative anymore. *The measurable loss of genius with each passing year further from birth.* Even the attempt to mimic Montessori schools is a fail bc teachers are not trained on how to engender or instill trust. And, to prevent loss of the fun-looking counting materials, the teachers simply hide them away, never to be used. Textbooks and handouts are the primary materials------ 💀

The way we do schooling in the USA is a sh!t show. Even in the "best" government schools, and a good many of the private/charter schools that imitate the government schools. I knew this even as a kid in the 80s from reading books like Superlearning by Ostrander & Schroeder. Then, stumbling upon Bandler & Grinder's books and other hypnotherapy books in a uni library when I was 15 only reinforced the realization that we are only taught (or allowed) to use a tiny fraction of our potential to learn or to achieve. BTW, as a kid with "ADHD" -- which is apparently another name for hyper-creativity -- I was fascinated by much of what I read in their books but there were other things I didn't understand . Stupidly, I didn't seek opportunities for training and I eventually forgot about it and "life happened." Now I'm trying to make up for lost time and, as a future health coach, I hope I can learn and use these techniques to help people.

School choice is a great idea, but handled as in Sweden it's a catastrophe. Here it has created a system where schools make money for their shareholders with less education and teachers while handing out exaggerated grades to boost their results. And schools should never be allowed to fail, because it's damaging for the students in those schools. 50:05
@sirellyn
@sirellyn 11 месяцев назад
"And schools should never be allowed to fail" Disagree, Utterly I've seen the damage wrought by schools (and students) NOT allowed to fail. There are kids, right now who would honestly grow up better and more well balanced if they never went to school and found themselves in biker gangs. THATS how screwed up some of the schools have become. (Not that I'd prefer biker gangs obviously, but THAT is how damaging it is.)
11 месяцев назад
@@sirellyn I'm not sure we're talking about the same "fail". for me a failure is when kids are not taught, respected, educated and taught how to learn, among other things.
@sirellyn

@ I'm saying be careful what you are wishing for. Modern schools in Canada and the US will tell you to your face they will do those things you wanted. (In the most twisted ways possible)

@ I have no clue why it deleted the second half of my message and only left the word narcissist. Sorry about that. I've edited the message. I was just saying, current schools the best result you can hope for is your kids not to understand basic problem solving, nor core subjects like english, math etc, and the ideology is likely promote them acting like narcissists.

Get involved. It's not enough to sit on the sidelines and criticize. Decision-makers need to hear from the community. Attend school board meetings, as a person with vested interest in making education more fun, interesting, empowering, and holistic (supporting a whole-person and healthy community). *This is a note to self of what next steps i must take, because the public school behemoth in the U.S. that I've seen is not endowed enough to keep wasting big money on bad textbooks. Go look at them. Many are less explanatory, and more condescending than you remember.
@africkinamerican
@africkinamerican 3 дня назад
@@2ndpersondancing Respectfully, I think the "get involved in your community" bit may help to defend against the worst of the bad ideas coming down the pipeline but it will not bring about the wholesale paradigm shift that is needed.
