There is a part of hell mentioned in the Bible called the 'outer darkness': a black void that is the destiny, apparently, the final destination of those who have forgotten the Lord but are not deemed as evil 'sinners'. The heavy weight boxing champion George Foreman had a similar experience & understandably immediately converted to Christianity.
My imigrant Grandmother was illiterate but loved God and never used the term Born Again. She was a very good woman raised her family in love! I have no doubt that she is joyfully in Heaven! Christine went to Hell in warning that she was moving away from! God which He said to her not because she was not Born Again! You have to Be and Do Born Again, and not just Say it! And be lost if you walk away!
No crimes are finite!! Take for example a murder. A murder has a "rippling" effect. The immediate family is affected, the place where the person worked is affected. The government is affected because it can't collect taxes on the deceased any more. And there are other things that eventually come up.

I understand that the point of Christianity, for example, is to acknowledge and repent of one's sin. A Christian does it wrong if he claims moral superiority. Credulity has nothing to do with morals. I have a bad habit of using metaphors. I'll explain better here. "why predicate" I don't. I try as often as I find myself willing to subject what I believe to what can be known... "If applied to making sense of life's trials" ...Which is why "applying" here translates into "representing as fact an opinion I prefer." It's merely burying one's head in the sand to do that, but it reaches crazy level when you base all of your life decisions and treatment of others on that thinking.

I notice that some of the comments below assume that when you say you are Christian, that is it...you automatically are given a free entry into "heaven". Sadly, although there are some elements of truth in this, with such a very basic understanding, what Jesus also told us in Matthew is ignored it would appear to our peril. Matthew 7:21-23 New King James Version (NKJV) I Never Knew You 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ And you might ask WHY...why would Jesus say that if people were even performing miracles etc in His name? I know in my own life example that when I was the most happy and fulfilled, I was in full relationship with God through Jesus. I was sure of my path and my final destiny...but the world got in the way and I was lead here and there following my own desires...finally the world drowned out my Loved One's Voice, which is, at its loudest, generally "small and quiet", so there was no way for me to hear it...and I didn't want to. I was still saying I was a Christian and perhaps even did some good intermingled with my purely selfish and destructive activities. I didn't actually "know" Jesus during this time...only in memory/theory harking back to my amazing and vibrant past with Him...as if He was a wonderful husband I had unreasonably divorced. I thought I had reason enough for my rebellion, but that's all it really was, rebellion. In that state, how could I have gone to share eternity with a God I was doing my level best to stubbornly reject for no REAL reason...just excuses to live life MY way? However, God has never given up on me, and never let me go and I know He is still struggling to bring me closer....I was starting to doubt that hell was a really serious possibility in the last few years, and probably at that point, I began to wonder how far I had strayed yet again and how to get back home, upset that yet again I had started to drift and stop listening. Jesus is with us every step along our path, and doesn't want to let us go, as we can see in Christine's case. I don't want to have to experience that kind of real and dreadful separation, although in a sense I have known that same feeling. There are so many true life accounts of visits to hell and heaven on RU-vid nowadays thanks to modern technology...we don't have much excuse if we have a computer; not all are genuine and you need to map it in line with the Word. But finally it is all described in the Bible in the Old and New Testaments. I anticipated this response. "You don't know what his true purpose is, your standards could still be wrong!" What difference does that make? Fact is, there is pain, suffering, death; what convincing case could you make for the morality of a God that deliberately orchestrated these things for some greater good that we literally could not understand? How are we to agree with God if we can't even understand his judgment? The cat remains blameless in its disagreement for the same reasons we should.

ps one further point re "agreement" is that one's spiritual belief or total lack thereof, will define it. You seem to assume a lot of "we's" - four of them in fact - when many spiritual people not only accept suffering but welcome it as a gift and a blessing. That which YOU perceive as "unfair" "unpleasant" "unnecessary" "immoral" and so on, may fit perfectly well for others with their concept of a benevolent omnipotent God, as the discomforts you describe are experienced by the physical body.

Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unfallen humanity and He is the author of eternal life to all who trust Him alone for salvation. The only reason anyone will ever be in Heaven is solely by the shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection, of Jesus Christ alone in Anything added or subtracted from this is another gospel. Our good works, repenting of sins, and obedience, are solely for rewards in Heaven or a lack thereof and have absolutely nothing to do with salvation at all.
What nonsense. Jesus said that hell is created as a place of punishment for the devil and his angels. But every time someone says they visited hell they describe a place where satan and his demons are in power and loving life and tormenting people there.
No where in the Bible does it say that Satan is being tortured right now. His spirit is free to roam. Also those angels will not be thrown into the abyss until the last judgement. Unless you can prove a different time line with references in the Bible, that's what I've always understood.

So we Christians believe that when we are born, we are born into sin. We have to eventually accept Jesus in our hearts and our lives which makes us "born again" or" born again Christians". Hope that makes sense.
It means that you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. You ask him to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart. Then you follow Him. You are born again because you have been given a new life in Christ.
