I’ve been helping my daughter studying for her nutrition class in nursing school. I am completely flabbergasted at the outdated nutrition advice she is being tested on! They are literally keeping people sick.

Its no accident that ppl are being fed a diet of Processed Food that makes them ill . In 2008 the US spent 14 billion dollars on statins .....Just one medication for just one year !!!!!. Its really no accident when there is astronomical profits being made by Food Industry and Big Pharma. Nestle ,for example, produce sugary foods in some of their Factories ,and Insulin for diabetes in others.

i began studying to qualify as a support worker for the aging until my brain joined all the dots and i realized that dementia was likely to be a complication from long term untreated diabetic response. i also realized that i was on a t2 diabetes trajectory. when we hit the nutrition section of the "education" and the treatment of those who no longer had the ability to feed themselves, or masticate, and i found out what you MUST feed them (because to do otherwise would be against the law and actually considered criminal) i realized it was further signing their death certificate in carbs and sugars. i was so shocked i could not in good faith participate. friends and family still think i'm crazy. anyhow

Oh my Goodness! I need to watch this 5 more times. This is so important for me because I need to transition for the last half of my journey toward maintenance! Many of my questions were answered. The best part is I know deep in my heart I have been right about so many things. I didn't give up because I have been the one living this unhealthy life. I'm the one who been miserable for so many years. Once a doctor said to me "I do not know how you get out of bed." Just like everyone else I have been lied to & cheated out of my hard-earned money. My desperation to find a truly healthy life has finally allowed me to see a light at the end of a hope-filled tunnel! Thank you 2kk, Dr. Cywes, Dr. Berry, Nurse Neisha, Keto Savage & Lady Savage from the bottom of my Healthy Heart!

Of course my Dr. Wants to put me right back on a statin with my overall cholesteral number of 409. I refused. I have never felt better. 50 lbs lighter, off Bp meds, cholesteral meds, A1C down to 5.3 eating low carb/ketovore

I am 63 years old, had bariatric surgery, gastric bypass, in 2007. I was at almost 300 pounds then, had lost 5% of my weight in order to have the surgery. I lost about 90 lbs. afterward, was told to stop eating white breads, white rice, regular pasta and to change to brown breads, brown rice, and whole grain pasta. Needless to say I gained most of that weight back. I was never told, in all the support group meetings I had to attend before and afterward, to eat low carb. I now have a form of hypoglycemia as a result of the surgery also. I started Keto in September 2020, I was back up to 269 lbs, am now down to 187, my lowest weight thus far in more than 40 years, no more blood pressure meds which I was on since a teenager. Thanks to Keto way of eating I now don't have any episodes of hypoglycemia either!!

I also had bariatric surgery in 2008 lost down to 200 from 325. Am now keto after gaining back up to 232. Holding at 200 right now . Going to go more carnivore starting january 1st. 2023. My labs are all good hdl 77, ldl 77 triglycerides 110, total cholesterol 177. Only on 1/ 2 blood pressure meds since bp was 100 / 56 . As of late since on that dose my bp is 117 / 76. Will see what happens next few weeks there may be able to get off of bp all together. Also taking 1/ 2 does of cholesterol meds will see if I can discontinue that also see dr. Again in april. I do have to take thyroid meds for life since thyroid removed 2004 for thyroid cancer. Also my glucose runs about 80 to 97 usually in a.m and 2 hours after eating in the 120 's. In 2008 when I had bariatric surgery they came in my room 2 days in a row n gave me insulin injections. I asked them what the shots were . The nurse said insulin. I said insulin . ??? She said you didnt know you were diabetic and I said no. Never have had a problem since then. Not on any diabetic meds.

OMG! The knowledge bombs he dropped here were phenomenal!!! I'm going to watch it again with my husband and take notes!!! Rachel, we are metabolic twins! And now I understand the biochemistry behind the very, very low insulin and the high LDL and HDL. Not an hour after listening to this, I had a phone appointment with my doc re: my recent lipid panel. In a nutshell, she wanted me to go on a plant based protein diet because plant proteins are more easily digested and bioavailable, and recommended I watch the evidence based documentary Game Changers to support the switch from keto to plant based. I was apoplectic. I have been adding carbs (50g/day) back in after learning about Dave Feldman's recent publication and reading about the case studies in which high LDL was reversed in LMHR with a modest increase in carbs. Totally consistent with what Dr. Cywes was saying. Thank you and blessings on you two for bringing intelligent and thoughtful content to the public. I choose animal based protein...all.day.long. :)

@marklowe5939
@marklowe5939 Год назад
You need insulin to open gated channels in certain cells. This was where he was talking about those brain cells and the innervation of nerve cells in the digestive tract. It is also important in the conversion of t4 to t3. Beyond that the body has gated channels that require insulin in order to transport nutrients and minerals in and out of cells.I would go further and say from fat adaptation on we need to have a slight amount of carbs or invoke a saphylic insulin reaction to bump a small insulin spike.

I found it so interesting to hear about wanting to have that insulin spike in the morning. I have been testing sugar in the mornings and been frustrated because of having my highest number in the morning. And wanting that number to be much lower. Somehow I thought the dawn thing was what we had because we were damaged. I didn't think it was something that everyone should have, and that if our insulin is too low all the time we would actually want to trigger it. Very interesting. I'll probably need to watch that a few more times.

Lots of great info. When I started out doing keto 4 years ago. I remember thinking if sugar causes insulin resistance would eating so much fat and using ketones cause ketone or fat resistance. Finally an answer! All about balance! I think about how well intentioned folks got it wrong with the standard American diet and was afraid of well intentioned folks recommending keto and also getting it wrong and causing other problems. Again it’s all about balance. Thanks for sharing your consultation with Dr Cywes. It answered a lot of my questions.

@@2krazyketos exactly. As a pharmacist I monitor people for the effectiveness of medications and adjust dosages based on how the person is doing. Dr Westman says the ketogenic diet that he prescribes is like prescription strength. So looking at a prescription from a pharmacist’s perspective the goals and status of the person needs to be evaluated and adjusted accordingly. What an amazing consultation! I’ve learned so much but right now my brain is in overload mode. 🤯 I do remember when Dr Cywes spoke about the brain & muscle connection with energy. How the brain controls where the energy goes & shuts down processes when it’s in need of “fuel”. Amazing! It was a lightbulb 💡 moment to realize WHY I’m so tired most times & feel “weak” most days. It’ll make me think about my own food choices & keto journey. I’m also interested in the “Dawn Effect” & to know what’s a normal morning blood sugar for a non diabetic. To know about spiking your sugar twice a day & it be NORMAL is another eye opener. We are always so concerned to get that sugar low; learning now it’s not healthy for it to be so low. I’m excited now to add some avocado 🥑 back into my food choices. Congratulations to you Joe & Rachel for achieving health! ✨ Of healing your body! What a relief it must be to get such great news! I would love to see a follow-up video on this topic! For example, how are you implementing his recommendations, do you feel any different after you changed your way of eating, and do you have a plan to follow up with new tests in a certain amount of weeks (or months?)

Thank you for sharing your interview with Dr. Cywes. I listen to his videos all the time, but this one blew me away on the amount of information I could actually use in my own life. I know the interview was for you, but I pulled my bloodwork which goes back to 2018 to compare and now I can see the changes and what they mean. It has taken me 3 years to reach a point in my lifestyle to see some results on the good side of the scale and know that trusting the process is working. I am a long way from finishing my journey but now I know where to start tweeking to get the rest of the fat off while still maintaining insulin response and becoming more insulin sensitive.

This was great! I was able to look at my own labs and make notes on what Dr. C recommends, helping me know better where I am on my keto journey.

I LOVED this video! It was awesome learning about how the bloodwork gets inturrpeted. I will probably listen to this video many more times to glean what I haven't. Thank you for sharing this and for not cutting parts out. All this information is so very important. I have already shared this with one person and have a few more to send it to. Thank you!

I’m so glad Dr Cywes touched on sodium and how it relates to carnivore diet. We had just had a conversation at home about it and constipation and were trying to “troubleshoot” so although this was a discussion mainly aimed at Joe & Rachel it may help us too!

Sugar addiction is not easy to stop. I made myself. Started by giving up sugar. Then gave up most fruit, potato and corn products. Surgery was never an option for me, personally. I’ve followed a few people on RU-vid who have helped immensely. All the little things you need to know getting started and succeeding going keto or low carb.

That was a great discussion to post. I have followed Dr. Cywes for quite awhile as well as your channel. It was very helpful to hear the discussion of all of your lab results and the likely reasons for fluctuations in the values. There is so much information available to us about health issues and nutrition. It's a treasure trove, but hearing a personal evaluation was so informative! God bless!

Yay! Rachel has a reason for morning guacamole. This was SUCH amazing information about understanding "what our numbers mean". Not just looking at the 2 or 3 that many docs look at and jumping right to a perscription. How many times did I rewind and listen a 2nd time, 3rd time, 4? I took tons of notes and feel better equiped with knowledge and the right questions, for my next doc. appt. Thank y'all so much for sharing yourselves this way and this great information.

This was very eye opening. The thing that stood out for me was when he talked about triggering insulin in the morning and later on in the day. And I don't have to fear milk?! I'm definitely thin now and in maintenance mode. I may need to adjust my mindset as well. Thank you for sharing this interview.
