Even though I enjoyed the open discussion in this podcast I had numerous issues with the simplistic approach taken to tackle a lot of the serious issues raised by the hosts. I respect the fact that Dr Atallah admitted in many instances that studies were lacking in some areas, yet her answers to some other issues were mere speculations and lacking in depth : 1. Brushing off the decreased fertility rate as a positive "that helps the environment" is denying the existence of one of the most important issues that is gonna face a lot of the nations in the 21st century and one of the hottest topics that has been the focal point of many elections especially in developed countries.. the question hasn't been whether or not fertility rates have to be increased but HOW to do it, with some parties relying on incoming immigrants from developing countries while others advocating social security nets and financial stimuli to help motivate potential parents.. The idea being that an aging population where the elderly are more numerous than the working age population cannot survive or continue providing for its retired elderly and can lead to social and financial disaster.. and while causality cannot yet be established between how liberal a society is and the decrease in its fertility rate, the correlation at least seems difficult to ignore.. 2. Brushing off pornography misuse as a symptom rather than a problem because the word "addiction" hasn't yet been employed by psychiatric medical societies is somewhat naive and misleading. As someone in his early 30s who has grown in the era of explosion of availability of pornographic material, I can attest to the deleterious effects of such accessibility that I had first hand experience with and I've seen in a lot of my friends.. and while the scientific literature is still in its infancy regarding this topic.. some of the papers have clearly shown anatomic changes in the brains (mostly limbic system and prefrontal cortex) of porn "misusers" (since the word "addict" is frowned upon by Dr Atallah). To cite a few (Kuhn et al in Jama Psychiatry 2014 Brain structure and functional connectivity associated with pornography consumption) (Gola et al 2017 in Neuropsychopharmology, An fMRI study of men seeking treatment for problematic pornography use) and the book "your brain on porn" by Gary Wilson. 3. Going back to my first point regarding fertility rates and liberalism.. it seems that the highest fertility rates are in the developing countries (especially in Africa with some countries there still having fertility rates >4 per woman) where according to a recent article in the economist (young people are almost as sexist and homophobic as the elderly population which makes this issue even more problematic).. so if we were to look at numbers only, this could mean that while liberal countries are at a serious risk of extinction more conservative countries with some pretty backward thinking might self propagate and dominate the planet by sheer numbers.. in other words as I read it in one youtube comment recently, these people might quite literally-excuse my language- "out fuck the liberal progressives to oblivion" 4. I think that the ultimate measurement of any societal construct should be the ultimate happiness of its adherents.. and while its difficult to assess that objectively, it is quite clear that the use of antidepressants and depression had increased since the sexual revolution of the 1960s.. and while this can definetly be a mere correlation that could be otherwise explained by TONS of other variables, I think that the correlation between this revolution and single parent households in for example the US (and its many negative effects that can be especially seen in perhaps the most sexually liberal communities i.e. the African American community) paints a less rosy picture than the one presented by Dr Atallah and begs for caution when trying to apply sexual liberalism in a sociaty at large as a way of liberation and improvement in human wellbeing and health

للتوضيح، بموضوع انو الزواج الكنسي مبني على انجاب الأولاد: اذا أحد الطرفين المتزوجين بيريد يجيب أولاد والآخر لاء، فالمحكمة الروحية بتعتبر هالشي سبب كافي لتبطل الزواج، أكيد بطلب من احد الطرفين. أما اذا شخصين أرادوا الزواج، فإنو لازم يجيبوا أولاد، فهالشي مش دقيق، والكنيسة ما بتعلمو. بلقاءات التحضير للزواج، بيتشدّد على انو الزواج أولاً وآخراً هوي من اجل الثنائي نفسُو، مش كرمال يصير في أولاد. الرجل والمرأة هني بيجوا بالأولوية، قبل الأولاد. الزواج المسيحي بيكتمل بالثنائي نفسو، ومش بالضرورة يكون في أولاد. المجتمع اللبناني مش معوّد يكون في متزوجين ما عندن أولاد، بدون ما يسأل ليش وكيف تما في أولاد. مع انو في كتير هيك، وضمن الكنيسة.

Katerkheirallah fi 3alam that challenge societal norms bass like everything people can pass a limit where they go a bit too far and should be challenged themselves. You guys (other people in the comment section) blindly follow any rebel ideology because it is taboo or edgy. Ya khaye don't get me wrong, yes! she is right on many facets! But in her truth contains many lies and it's sad because many people are tired of the old status quos and are willing to adopt any and every new idea that comes their way. However, with everything comes a balance. Yes, people should talk about sex more and be educated early on, but when you say that sexual addictions and sex don't have their negatives, it's dangerous. And always looking at Europe as the way to go is utterly stupid and no way to go about things especially when they are just adopting those customs and we don't know the consequences of such decisions. Every society has its way of dealing with things and going to extremes is not always the solution. Moreover, using the Lilith myth as a way of projecting a bad image of the church is ridiculous, especially when her story is only found in ancient Jewish Gnosticism and is no way shape or form used to put women down in any of the Christian traditions.

I would like to correct some of what Sandrine said about religion, coming from a devout Christian; so i felt there was a need to comment. First, Mary is not a divine being. She was born an ordinary human and because she was a pious a God fearing woman, she was given the choice by God to give birth to Jesus. Jesus is alone without sin. Not Mary. Second, when it comes to the inherent sin, we do not inherit the sin of Adam and Eve, but rather the tendency to sin, and therefore with baptism we unite with Christ but we have to keep that unity by being devout and pious Christians. Thank you

لقاء جدا جميل و معلومات حلوة ما ركزت هواي بالحلقة بس مستعد اقيمهة 9 من 10 الموضوع الي لفت انتباهي انو انتم جاي تشوفون الشي الي انا جاي اشوفة يعني قصدي نفس التفكير و الشي الاحلا و الاجمل انو ما التزمتو بحدود المجتمع و القيود العربية للحوار قصدي بتطرقكم لتحكم الاديان بالعلاقات و هاي نقطة ايجابية للحوار

حلقة ممتازة و لكن مع إحترامي الكامل للمضمون التطرق للمواضيع الدينية يكون من خلال وجود شخص لاهوتي لأن الدين المسيحي لم يقم بوضع الجنس في خانة الدنس و العيب بل قام بتقديسه من خلال سر الزواج و أصبح الإنسان شريك في عملية الخلق بسبب محبة الله . أما موضوع والدة الإله مريم فهي عذراء قبل الولادة و أثنائها و بعدها و موضوع حبلها من دون علاقة جنسية هو سر إلهي و ليس تدنيس للعلاقات الجنسية . أما من وجهة نظر الإيمان المستقيم ، خلق الله آدم و حواء و نص الخلق هو من أعظم النصوص التي أعطيت للإنسان و موضوع السقوط ليس عقاب للأنثى و التأكيد على ذالك هو تكريم الأنثى الإلهي و تكريس العذراء مريم والدة الإله. نشكر جهودكم و نبقى من أشد المعجبين .
