@Milan Mohapatra I think Sachin Pilot is a better option. He is young, well educated and experienced leader. Being associated with Hindi heartland it gives him upperhand over Tharoor to connect to larger part of India. Tharoor is seen in high regards by educated people but people from small town and villages can associate themselves with him. Sashi Tharoor as a HRD minister or foreign affairs minister can help India in better way.
@Soumyaditya Basu Yes he is "accused". The person who filed the case is Subramanian Swamy, a BJP leader. Of proven guilty he could be jailed for 10 years, but still police is not able to find any substantial evidence against him even when from last 6 years BJP is in power. Learn others details about the case as well like autopsy, physiological autopsy and thier children statements on their relationship. Don't end sentence with the word "accused".
Even if the UK was to sell all of its territories to us, they would not even make up for quarter of the debt owed to my country. Forget the human loss that is irreparable. Then they have the audacity of publish articles calling India poor, dirty and what not. The irony is unbelievable. Respect to you folks for embarking on the journey to rediscover your real home :)
"India in the 1960s was pathetically dependent on US food aid. Even in the bumper monsoon year of 1964-65, food aid totalled 7 million tonnes, over one-tenth of domestic production. Then India was hit by twin droughts in 1965 and 1966. Grain production crashed by one-fifth. Only unprecedented food aid saved India from mass starvation". swaminomics.org/drought-not-a-big-calamity-in-india-anymore
Look we r not against today's Britain. Ok. But we can't forget. We forgive but never forget. I hope no one calls us poor cuz now we are rising. I think what's done is done. We will look forward to the future. If no tourists would have invaded us we wouldn't even have faced famines in the past century.
You can find historians and economists who argue the causes of Indian famine being from either purely natural to "holocaust". "Tirthankar Roy suggests that the famines were due to environmental factors and inherent in India's ecology. . . Roy argues that massive investments in agriculture were required to break India's stagnation, however these were not forthcoming owing to scarcity of water, poor quality of soil and livestock and a poorly developed input market which guaranteed that investments in agriculture were extremely risky. . . Roy is of the opinion that improvements in the market efficiency did contribute to the alleviation of weather-induced famines after 1900, an exception to which is the Bengal famine of 1943". "Michelle Burge McAlpin has argued that economic changes in India during the 19th century contributed towards the end of famine. The overwhelmingly subsistence agriculture economy of 19th century India gave way to a more diversified economy in the 20th century, which, by offering other forms of employment, created less agricultural disruption (and, consequently, less mortality) during times of scarcity.[38] The construction of Indian railways between 1860 and 1920, and the opportunities thereby offered for greater profit in other markets, allowed farmers to accumulate assets that could then be drawn upon during times of scarcity. By the early 20th century, many farmers in the Bombay presidency were growing a portion of their crop for export. The railways also brought in food, whenever expected scarcities began to drive up food prices.[39] Similarly, Donald Attwood writes that by the end of the 19th century 'local food scarcities in any given district and season were increasingly smoothed out by the invisible hand of the market[40] and that 'By 1920, large-scale institutions integrated this region into an industrial and globalising world-ending famines and causing a rapid decline in mortality rates, hence a rise in human welfare'" Mike Davis iis a Marxist and so has a blinkered view of the world as being one of the oppressors versus the oppressed. He's an "American writer, political activist, urban theorist, and historian" [Wikipedia]. "Mike Davis regards the famines of the 1870s and 1890s as 'Late Victorian Holocausts'. This negative image of British rule is common in India.[37]Davis argues that "Millions died, not outside the 'modern world system', but in the very process of being forcibly incorporated into its economic and political structures. They died in the golden age of Liberal Capitalism; indeed, many were murdered ... by the theological application of the sacred principles of Smith, Bentham and Mill." @@lordgallo4213 so what??? What are you trying to say??? He's talking about Britain's rule in India and how Britain stole 45 trillion dollars from India. That's 20 times more than the GDP of the United States
@Proud to be KAAFIR read the comment first. I did not say GDP per capita. Moreover, per capita income is low in India because of the large population only.
"I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation." Lord Macaulay address to british parliament on 2nd Feb 1835.
He changed the Indian education system to suit the East India Company to make them beggars with less than 2%GDP from 24 in 200 years .A badge of honor on the sleeves of invaders.
A request to you guys please show this to your kids as well, so they would know the correct history of both nations. You can record their reaction too, only if you want.

Glad you saw, had requested many times. Even here, Indians aren't taught full details in schools as it is gruesome though freely available. The youth in both the countries should know their history to move in the right direction. Thank you so much once again 👍
The horrors of colonisation can never be forgotten...Every time we hear about the conflict between india and pakistan it is the direct result of colonisation, both arms of our land were cut and that wound is still and will always be sore 😖
I urge you to show this video to your children too. It actually breaks my heart that our non residential Indian people know so little about the colonial experience, not that it is their fault but the school they went to were probably oblivious to the actual facts and don't really expose the dark side of British history to their public.😶😐 I hope you guys get genuinely interested in our history and get to know our roots🙏🙏 You guys are awesome 👍❤️

Hello guys. As Stevie said, the stuff we know now was taught to us in school. There's much more to learn and understand about those old times when the British ruled India. Hats off to this man. I'd love to watch more videos like this. He had prepared everything already. Thank you guys for reacting on this video. Take care.
That is the beauty of the information that has started after the dawn of the internet. What you learn in school - now only plays one small part of your education. The rest of the major parts are filled by internet materials. Truth doesn't hide for long.
You hit the nail on the head when you said the Powers that be in Europe/UK do not wanna acknowledge the debt because they know India will become an overnight superpower if what is owed is returned in today's equivalent
Reaction from Steve really showed that his blood boiled when he heard those things. Deep inside his love for India n being an Indian showed. PS this what I felt
Just for Info purpose..Kohinoor was set to be sent from Lahore to Jagannath Madir in the 1600s... the King of Lahore had this as one of his wills.. basically that Diamond belongs to the Temple itself.. That queen is wearing a TEMPLE PROPERTY basically
He was the Under Secretary General at the United Nations.......prolific author of several books and an extremely well read person ! This speech went viral all over India and people suddenly woke up to this painful part of our history. While most people are willing to let bygones be bygones, a small percentage is not too happy letting it rest. They argue over the precious artifacts , jewelry, paintings, temple statues etc, which now occupy a prominent position in the British museums......these antiques are priceless and India would certainly like at least these to be returned to India...... !
Thank you so much for the reaction guys i was waiting for it as i had shared the link, shashi tharoor is a brilliant person everything he said was right he has been in the UN as a permanent representative of India. We don't forget the past but we are committed to make our country even more prosperous than it was before and the day will come soon when we will earn it on our own... May god bless to all of us .. Jai hind
Britain should absolutely acknowledge and apologise for historic colonising. Admittedly Britain is no longer wealthy enough to deliver anything other than a token financial gesture but it's a matter of principal. A full and formal apology is the very least we should do.
I love his speech! He is well informed and spoke clearly, without disrespecting anyone. I wish he added more information about slave/labors that were brought from India to the Caribbean/West Indies. We Caribbeans and South Americans Desis are often forgotten. I wish more desis would be familiar with that part of history. Many of us in the Caribbean and South American have lost our families because of it. My entire family died back in India. My Great Grandpa died on the ship and his body was tossed in the Ocean. Sadly his name was never recorded properly and we cannot trace our lineage to find our long-lost families back in India/Pakistan. This is the reality for many people in the West Indies. I so wish the squabbling between religious communities and countries would stop, we are the same people. What has been done is done, its over, lets heal and move on and forgive each other. Lets teach the next generation to love and respect each other's difference, not compete over 'who is right, who is wrong!
When we talk about how it has effected India can be seen by studying the problems in Kashmir valley, India may have moved much forward but still now every week we get news of our soldiers undergoing death, and that's all because of the partition done by the British, so yes it still effects us guys.
U know what, last year it was the 100th anniversary of Jalianwala Bagh massacre. After all these yrs when we demanded an apology for it, this time the British parliament n British PM, Theresa May said that they regret it but WON'T SAY SORRY. Imagine if ur loved one is killed, u pardoned him, n he says the very same line. It's not about owing responsibility, it is what u shd know, for ur sake, so that ur genext wud learn from it n be more human.
Their queen wears the crown studded with the most precious diamond in the world which was stolen from India. The audacity and the lack of shame is just gold polished with their ego and pride covered in looted gold.
Well...you both are British citizens, of Indian descent...I'm glad you've watched and hopefully learnt, what your adopted country did, for 200yrs, to the land of your forefathers. A shame isn't it?
I absolutely love you guys! Being the father of a child who is being brought up in the UK now,, I am always concerned that she will forget her roots.....and so I made her watch this video as I wanted her to know the part of the history that she is not been taught! You guys might want to read two of Dr. Tharoor's books.....the "Inglorious Empire", that he wrote as a direct result of this speech and "Why am I a Hindu"......an absolute eye opener. Please keep doing what you do. You make me feel happy after a hard day :)
Till now British didn't say sorry...That's what they are arguing for... Infact Cameroon almost said but restrained from saying sorry when he came to gujarat
Personally, I feel Britain must pay India the due reparations no matter how much it is, be it million trillions or gazillions of pounds. That would help India for infrastructure, education, health and scientific researches as well as agricultural field. We deserve reparations.
Dears, Do you really read our comments...? Just asking... He is Mr. shashi Tharoor (member of Indian parliament from congress party). This speech was an extraction from his book "Inglorious Empire" which was a best seller. If you like reading, that 250 pages book is an eye opener about british colonialism in Indian modern history. Let me enlighten you more Brits looted around 44 Trillion in 200 years from India. India started from zero & today it is worlds 5th largets (after US, China, Japan & Germany) economy whereas UK stands at 7th position. India stands 3rd in the world in PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) United States of America. China. Japan. Germany. India. France. United Kingdom. Italy. Brazil Canada
Again can't stop watching ur reaction videos...... Shashi Tharoor was on point and so were u....... India doesn't need Reperations...... He said, a Pound every year or a sorry... We Indians will be happy with a sorry and a hug..... Bottom line is..... India was civilized and economically strong earlier, it can do it again....... India is growing and will grow and top the chart...... There's no stopping...... If compared, the growth is slow but, India will be the country where everyone would love to live in....... Love u guys...... "AGAIN"...
What Britain looted amounts to several trillion dollars in today's money, much bigger than the British economy. It is funny to see that they looted so much from India but now their economy has fallen behind India. So be proud of your heritage and your roots.
From Alexander The Great to Mongols to Mughals to the British rule..India has been invaded so many times..But everytime time and again it rose like phoenix from the ashes. There is something about that land, something about that soil that makes it a great nation or Incredible India should i say...?
India is the only nation which developed without ever colonising any other nations over the entire course of known history of mankind.. We are indians and we will keep moving forward... Proud of my India ❤
I am happy that you reacted to the debate . this is just a brief information about the atrocities done towards Indian people. A lot of local heroes like tantia tope, Rani Lakshmi bai , mangal pandey who fought against the British during the first war of Indian independence of 1857, then the jalianwala bagh massacre, killing of lala lajpat rai, Chandra shekhar azad , bhagat Singh, sukhdev, rajguru, jatin Das, and our beloved netaji subhash Chandra Bose ,the man behind the formation of azad hind fauj and later the independence of India. In today's world people will say that india is very poor and illiterate country but deep down every Indian believe that we came a long way fighting a lot of internal issues that the Britishers planted as time bomb and are moving towards to regain the glory that India was known in the golden age . India will again become the golden bird . jai hind jai bharat.
Britain is a democracy. And democracies dont sweep things under the carpet. It will be great to accept and acknowledge what whole world already knows. This acknowledgement will not weaken but strengthen Britain. I go further on to say if my country India has does anything wrong to others it should also acknowledge it.
Where ever you guys are born ...once your blood is Indian ..you are always an Indian ..with good ethics..one-thing we never loot anybody...we still serve where ever we are as good humans ...jai hind...
Well we do learn about all this in our history books.. it's not that we hate British because of all the past, but it's true that they owed us for all the pain they caused... Shashi Tharoor's speech notes contain information what other speakers before him pointed out, he just gave replies to those statements and showed them the true picture thoroughly...
What an amazing channel...I just found this channel and watched all ur videos.. Amazing videos..Love ur reaction...You should react to "UK Wembley stadium Uk welcome modi- Dhol Tasha"..U gonna love it
Dr Tharoor became a columnists at 11. He published more than 22 books till date. He worked for UN and worked upto being the Under Secretary General to UN. He then came back to India, started his political career as MP from Tiruvanantapuram. He has been a third time MP from his constituency in a row. He worked as Minister for External Affairs and Human Resources under the well educated Dr Manmohan Singh's government.
I believe in karma.... Britain will definitely pay for what it done with world 🇮🇳🙏 and history repeats itself, india will definitely rise again as "Golden bird 🐦"🇮🇳🙏🙏
