Whatever worth he got after this, I still cant brain why Magma is part of the gang. Understandable but still a weird choice

He witnessed first hand what Senku's "sorcery" was providing after some time, before that (the time where Senku became village chief and before they actually started working on a bigger project) he had to cooperate helping to defend the village after being conviced to do so. After the attack it was clear to everybody, that they would resume their attack shortly, so killing Senku to become village chief was of the table for now since they needed him to put his idea into reality, making the Katanas. Afterwards, I would presume it was a slow but steady getting used to until the cave episode, where he admits he was planning on executing them there but changed his mind mid way through. I would say during that time, I think he never would have gone through with that, as he changed his mind quickly and his actions before that didn't really suggest anything similar to that but rather the opposite. That is my take on that though.
