Oldman, Langella, Lee, Lugosi - Who is your Dracula? 🦇 Patreon for community and bonus content: www.patreon.com/KatjaSavia Let’s have a cup of coffee: ko-fi.com/katjasavia
My favorite characterization, Duncan Regher from the Monster Squad. Overall film, Saville's "Count Dracula" (1977). Your question is tricky. - Lugosi meant the most to his film, without him the '31 version stinks. Awful script. If Lugosi had Phantom '25's screenwriter, game over. He'd be Heath Ledger Joker level. - Sir Christopher "feels like Dracula," but filmed under a production company that held him back. He and Terence Fisher were a killer combo. - Langella's a different duck, Shakespearean with sweep. I love John Badham's films (Saturday Night Fever, '79, Short Circuit), but his character arc doesn't fit with the intended presentation. Big Frank brings the rage from the novel in a neutered setting. It's weird. - Oldman's one of my all-time favorite talent, but his character wears so many hats it's all over the place. I get character depth, but in such a focused film he doesn't get what he needs. Langella had one hurdle, but Oldman had four. I prefer Oldman as the man in black, Lucy's predator. I haven't thought about the big four in a long while. Thank you for the question!
Although I grew up idolizing Lugosi and Lee, Oldman became my favorite when I saw him portray Dracula. He added so much to the character, making him both tragic and horrifying. Kilar's score perfectly complimented Oldman's performance.
Katja, this was a beautiful medley that touched on so many different themes and was a wonderful way to prepare for the approaching Halloween holiday. The beginning is so sinister and bold, like a dark castle rising up in the distance, shrouded in mystery and shadow. This is followed by the tragic melody of one who can never experience the true depth of love, haunted by the knowledge that whoever falls for them will surely waste away while immortality protects this hopeless wanderer. You played so elegantly and elevated these songs to the prominence that they deserve. It's fascinating to me how an independent artist from Finland can imbue music with so much richness and intensity when so much modern music sounds vapid and empty. You genuinely excel at creating masterpieces that by all rights should echo through the ages. Thank you for sharing your passion for dark music with us, for enlightening our souls with your unique vision of the world, and your willingness to transform and magnify every note you play. I hope that you have a wonderful Halloween and look forward anxiously to more of your creations in the future. Traaginen menneisyytesi täyttää minut vain suuremmalla halulla antaa sinulle loistokkaampi tulevaisuus, sillä olen joutunut täysin sinun loitsuasi, Katja.
You spotted every little detail that makes this piece of work so fascinating and great. Kilar the composer did a fantastic job with this one. I'm so glad to know you appreciate what I do. Thank you for being part of the creation process and giving good advice. ❤❤
Truly wonderful work, Katja! You brought back memories of watching this movie and listening to that music for the first time when I was a kid. I think Oldman is my favourite Dracula. That guy is such a chameleon. He simply disappears into the characters he plays and fully becomes them.
Katja, you have such grace and passion when you play, I'm simply mesmerized! A wonderful piece for sure, makes me want to watch more Dracula. I love both Bela Lugosi and Gary Oldman as Dracula. It's tragic, but I have not seen any of the Christopher Lee ones! I need to get on that
Very touching and moving! I also meant to mention: I like the way this one pops up some suggestions for other videos to watch after the song. Seems like a good thing to encourage folks to keep exploring other songs. 🙂
Your performance on the piano is, as always, an acoustic and visual treat, dear tumma prinsessa! 🖤🎹🦇🧛♂🦇🎹🖤 I like your step-overs when playing the piano, which I've always liked with Freddie Mercury too! 🖤🎹🦇🧛♂🦇🎹🖤 BTW, Freddie once put to music the thought that applies to Count Dracula that too much love will kill you in the end! 🖤🎹🦇🧛♂🦇🎹🖤 I love Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula adaptation, not only because of the amazing Gary Oldman (perhaps my favourite Dracula actor), but also because of the wonderful young Winona Ryder, who could well be competition for my tumma prinsessa, but Winona is getting older, while you will remain young and beautiful forever like the Highlander Connor MacLeod, dear Katja! 🖤🎹🦇🧛♂🦇🎹🖤
Frank, I do remember you telling your infatuation with Winona Ryder. You have great taste yet she is still so beautiful. Thank you so much. I'm impressed by your words and appreciate your kindness. You are radiating positivity all the way to Finland. 😊❤
Another lovely treat for Halloween-time (or any time for that matter) : ) I really like how the transitions/segues are smooth and seamless as well...and the red shirt is fitting, echos Oldman's red outfits (not sure if that was intentional, but it's a great touch...and in turn, Oldman is my favorite Dracula btw)!
@@KatjaSavia You're welcome as always! Ah, that's sweet to know (I was thinking of both that and the red armor as well)...it's a great look on you of course, fitting of a vampire queen.
