I love how they cut in the shot of the plane to bring the audience from the past into the then current day 1972.

Yes. It's great, and echoes the bone scene in 2001 A Space Odyssey, which borrowed from A Canterbury Tale (1944 film).

I know it may look and sound a bit old fashioned today, but back in the early seventies it was one of the most exciting British horror films around. Absolutely unforgettable.

It's amazing, even today. :) Sooo 70ies! I never lived back then but I feel like this encapsulates the decade.

@@SwiftNimblefootsort of though one of the criticisms of this is that the young people in it seem more 1967 than they do 1972. It’s just differences that people of that era see or know and have written about it. I still like the movie. I think it’s definitely better than “Satanic Rites.”

What a tremendous time capsule into early 1970s western civilization.

Yeah! Listen to that 1970s funky music! All we need now is some 70s cop cars crashing into empty cardboard boxes in a dirty alley. Fantastic!

This soundtrack makes me think we should have had Christopher Lee walk down the street in soundglasses to this music. :)

For a '70's Hammer film, the opening music for this is really cool. And Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee are Gods End of Line

I hear people complain and complain about this movie. "its not true to the novel" they say "feels more like a detective show than Dracula" they say. But the fact is that Dracula AD 1972 and The Satanic Rites Of Dracula are fun, action packed, dark, thrilling, and full of shootouts and car chases, tits, gore, funky 70's shit, Peter Cushing, and the prince of darkness himself

None of the Hammer Dracula films after the first one are true to the novel though, except for maybe Scars

In most of the film, the church exterior (and interior) must have been a set at Elstree, so it would be interesting to know where the 1872 part of this sequence was shot. If you look at the church walls, they don't look very solid, but that's not obvious if you focus on the funeral.
