I love AD1972. You know it's not good but somehow it's GREAT. It's evolved over time from a movie I thought was junk into a junk movie I think is a classic. Somewhat confusing.

As a passionate fan such as myself as a young 6 year old child growing up with the old Hammer Horror Dracula films of the greats there is one film in particular that even to this day I never liked and that was The Satanic Rites of Dracula. Something about that film just doesn't bode well with me. It has Dracula in the Title but in that movie he is in it for no less than 3 mins and is essentially a cameo role. I have watched it time and time again expecting to find some things that I might like about it and Christoper Lee's presence was clearly wasted and I still struggle to find common ground with the movie. All of the other Dracula movies were stellar works of art and I liked everything about each movie. The Satanic Rites of Dracula is the only exception.

Tim Burton is the greatest director of our age. I love the fact he loves Hammer films. Its great he uses christopher Lee in his films

He is barely capable of directing anything. It's sad how many people are so fooled by nice art work into thinking he can actually direct. He doesn't really make movies, just music videos strung together. There a little more to making a film, than that.

@@RickTBL You're full of crap. Tim Burton has directed groundbreaking movies that dared to push boundaries. Great moving and emotional films beautifully directed by Tim Burton. The Tim Burton directed movies are a true artistic masterpiece. I must say that the people who get the Tim Burton movies, in general, have been wise and intelligent; the people who don't get it are ignorant scum.

@@RickTBL Tim Burton being the greatest director of our age is a huge stretch, but thinking the man can't even direct is frankly one of the worst takes I've ever heard by a film fan tbh.

@@zufgh Time Burton showed some potential 30 years ago, but hasn't done anything "good" in ages. I've seen too many great films by great directors to be very impressed with Burton. I thought Ed Wood was great and hoped it was a sign of great things to come, but it wasn't. I think he peaked with Ed Wood. It's sad. I think that both Burton and Spielberg have squandered their talents making movies that aren't up to their potential.

You know what kills me. People like Tim Burton and Tarantino all think they were somewhat cutting edge because they liked the "Lesser" of some certain Horror or Z Flick franchise. I can tell you I saw this mid 70's and thought it was not the best but still entertaining. I knew a lot of other people that felt the same. I am not a film maker nor "Cutting Edge"........... and no you don't have to be on a desert Island to explain this out.......

You have a point, but here's another - I also love Dracula 1972, but I've never met anyone else who does. Nobody else I know has even seen it. There are many who do and have, but not many outside Tumblr.

Great movie. I just don't understand the musical score, Dracula pursuing miss van Helsing with some sort of free jazz music in the background, like the Adam West Batman series.

Give the guy a break. The "100 years later" is a silly plot gimmick at any rate. The revenge-from-the-grave would have worked if it was 200, or 400, or 9 1/2 years. Do you think Dracula was waiting in limbo, watching the calendar go by a day at a time, going, "Okay, 93 years, and thirteen days down... have to wait a bit... my acolyte's grandson should be about 17 now... couple more years and he'll cross paths with the granddaughter of Van Helsing. But wait. What if it's a grandson...?"

The Dracula and Van Helsing characters don't really work in a 1970s setting.
