Dracula X - Final Boss 

Imagine if this was the prologue to Symphony of the night. Very few would be able to play the rest of the game.

I like how Dracula's laugh is basically him taunting you with "If I don't kill you, that gaping pit beneath you will!"

This is the most sadistic design for a final boss I've ever seen. Looks hard, rather as a certain someone said, "Impossible, Im-FUCKING-Possible!"

When you don't know how to handle him, this is some seriously sadistic shit, but once you learned the right tricks and patterns it's much easier (this is the same thing for all Castlevania games anyway). Having the cross is by far the best option, if you wanna play it safe, you just have to stay crouched on the lowest middle platform, this way you'll avoid almost all his attacks. Then, use the cross to damage him when he is in on your sight. You can damage him three times in one shot if he's on the opposite platforms, only one if he is closer. Pretty easy to get him without losing health like that (and you have much enough hearts to do it). The second form is a lot easier than it seems. Just go to the far right of the platforms, and stand on the lower one: this way, if you get hit, you'll not fall in the pit. Just spam the cross and eventually itemcrash to kill him. Using the whip to avoid the fireballs works pretty okay most of the time. Dracula has to be on the left side of the map before doing this, otherwise you'll have a hard time 'cause he'll be much too close of you. Quite difficult boss stage, the one from Rondo of Blood was way too easy, but this one is hard for wrong reasons.

The Dracula fight in Portrait of Ruin was the hardest I've ever fought. Order of Ecclesia was kinda tough but in Portrait of Ruin you fought Dracula AND Death at the same time!

Best way to finish off Dracula = Whip to the crotch!

I really like this game's art during the ending.

honestly not even close to being the hardest Dracula i'd say the ones from Vampire Killer (MSX) and Order of Ecclesia deserve that title way more.

In Japan the PC Engine CD's title was called Devil's Castle Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, and the SNES port was Devil's Castle Dracula XX in Japan, Castlevania: Dracula X in the US, and Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss in the PAL format. As KuchKuto said though, Rondo of Blood is arguably easier than Castlevania: Dracula X, especially the final boss fight with Dracula.

The mental resilience needed to beat this fucker is astounding, it all makes you feel like you really fought Dracula.

My feelings about this game have often been mixed. It did come after Castlevania IV, but the mechanics felt a little disappointing after the multi-directional whip system from the previous Castlevania, at least there is Dracula X Chronicles or Rondo of Blood for the same story.

Absolute worst final boss in the series (at least of the Classicvanias). The first form is incredibly boring. Because of the size of the room you can't go to where Dracula is if he teleports to the other side, so you just have to wait until he teleports to your side. It takes forever. His second form can knock you off with ease, making you repeat his entire first form again. It's a shame, because the rest of the game is at least okay.

What's wrong with the eye of that woman at the end

Julius is the one who finally put an end to Dracula in 1999 I believe by sealing the Demon Castle (i.e. Castlevania itself) in the moon (putting a stop to the "once every 100 years" resurrection). That's basically the only thing we know about him other than he's the most powerful Belmont to date (with Richter being a close second).

I congratulate you. You have done the impossible. I didn't think there was any way to beat Dracula in this game.

@DDenzelSSnipes Dracula's attacks were never hard to dodge in any Castlevania. The problem is the fact that those pits are death. If you screw up once, and only once. You are bound to fall into those said pits. Trust me if you ever played the SNES version you will fall into the pit guaranteed.

To beat this boss, there are two strategies: 1. Get the Axe. 2. CROUCH. It's easy to forget that you get no knock back when you get hit while crouching, which is the difference between life or death in this fight.

This boss battle drove me nuts! I know the Caslevania series was know for being hard, but did Konami have make you worry about falling to a bottomless pit at the same time you're fighting Dracula? This boss it the most condensed form of CFS (Caslevania Frustration Syndrome).

I like how Dracula laughs. It's repetitive, yes. But it's quite addicting. "HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!"

@koko6504 The thing is, most of the Final Boss fights of the Castlevania series ARE this, with minor exceptions. ANY fight with Dracula in his human form follows the exact pattern in this video, with only the tiniest variations (like a flat battlefield). Dracula's second form is where the differences appear, but even then, it does mostly the same thing - spits fireballs, jumps around. Sometimes has an extra attack or two. You mostly have to look to the 3D games and SoTN for true variation.

this guy makes it look so easy, but damn, having to fight Dracula on a bunch of platforms like that...it's just cruel. This guy is hard enough when you dont have to worry about falling off the cliff and dying.

When I played this game on the SNES and now in an emulator, I learned something about this particular Dracula... The axe is one of the best subweapons in this game. Try to stay in the lower platforms and when he appears on an upper one, trow him an axe. When he gets to his second form, the same technique applies, but now you should spam axes like crazy to kill him in no time.

@devilsshady You can grind them right outside the room. You enter the screen. Get your ten or so hearts. Leave to the right. THen go back into the screen and get more and more.

@Brandon5l9 Rondo of Blood has more stages, more bosses, somewhat better stage design, a second character to usemore secrets and cutscenes. The gameplay and controls are the exact same as in the SNES version.

Dracula second form always reminds me of Devil kazuya from Tekken with a blue skin, different horn with a speedo, instead of the purple skin.

@reggiardito In one sense, yes. You have the advantage of save states and such. On the other hand, I find it a million times easier to play games like this with the controller than the keyboard. I personally find it impossible to control him in the air with a keyboard. I can't even beat the first two stages using one without having to save state a million times. With a controller on the other hand I'm more comfortable. While I don't have this for SNES, I do have a controller adapter for the PC.

Actually, he does. Multiple times through the series. This form is most widely known as Ultimate Dracula, but because it is of the early, non-RPG series, it is still Dracula's Ghost.

For me this was one of the easiest Draculas. No offense. I just used the Axe, I stayed in the pillar on the middle, and waited for him to appear on the other 2. Also, if he shoots fire or the balls, just crouch and you're safe. If it happens to appear in the middle pillar, just jump to the left one and dodge whatever he's shooting at you. It's easier to kill him with the Axe in my opinion. Nice video, brings back a lot of memories.

@superkerel9 He is WAY easier in SotN than this 1. The stage in SotN where you control Richter v Dracula is just a prologue. If you lose all your HP Maria grants you strength and you cannot lose any more HP. In other words you become immortal. Also, SotN took the last boss fight from the PC Engine, this is the SNES version of the fight.

This boss is hilariously bad in terms of game design. You have only like 1-2 seconds to hit Dracula in the head before he attacks, which when he does, he has invincibility activated and nothing can hit him anymore until he appears again in another area. Then you have the death pits + bounce back whenever you get hit. The pillars are designed in a way to where 80% of the time when you get hit, you fall to your death, thereby making you wonder why your health bar is there in the first place. Then as if that's not bad enough, when he turns into speedo Dracula, his attacks become much faster and deal much more damage. Not that the damage matters because one hit and your character bounces back to their death anyways. This is literally the shittiest video game boss I've ever come across.

I beat Dracula by saving the hearts and using the Clock Item Crash; its a shield that blocks off the fireballs but not that wave attack, and it also damages him

@SilentStalkerX Of all my boss fight videos, this is the longest time it took me to kill Dracula. You have to remember I didn't have HyperCam and I was using SNES9x's own recording program, when you use it the emulator slows down to roughly 75% speed AND you lose all sound. In the fight Dracula laughs when he is teleporting so I didn't know when he was going to appear. I probably died atleast 20 times actually JUMPING into him because I didn't know when he was teleporting.

He sounds more like Count Von Count. Which is quite paradoxical, now that I think about.

This was a very slimmed down port anyways. Ironically I cant find a damn copy on amazon at all while theres like 30 on sale of Super Castlevania 4.
