You want to be like him so you tried to beat him, instead he encouraged you to be better than him and gave you a big autograph across your torso. What a cool guy.
His design and island is based on the word Dracule which can be changed to Dracula and also hawk being his eye. He also has a cross which symbolizes his eventual defeat due to vampires being weak to things like crosses or sticks. Imagine Mihawk beating Zoro using a stick. That would be a big flex
@Diarmid O'Connor Gay? Vampires: mythical creatures feeding on human blood Conquistadores: ruthless fucking Knights, killing all populations Musketeers: Precursors to riflemen. I think you are gayer than any of those, by a lot.
Mihawk if affected by negative hollow: I'm sorry for being the strongest swordsman in the world. Only had one rival who could match me but even he lost his arm. Why? Why am i so strong???
Buggy with a used butter knife could butcher Dracule. Facts, that’s why he constantly avoids Buggy cause Nihawk tried to cut his butter at lunch and his sword cracked. The shame literally brought Nihawk to tears and vowed to never let Pirate King Buggy lay eyes on him ever again.
@@joshd2013 a nonexistent female character that most fans deem as their "girlfriend" mostly associated with anime. The term waifu is derived from the word wife with a Japanese accent to it.
@@earthisadonut7213 I get it sorta how most blokes would say I'd like that (insert supermodel/actress name) to be my gf knowing they're never gonna get her but with pretty cartoon ladies instead am I right thank for the reply :)
Despite being introduced early in the series, there is still much we do not know about Dracule Mihawk. Where he was born, what style he trained in, whether Yoru is a cursed blade or not (resulting in his signature yellow eyes), who his barber is (Seriously, that mustache, beard and sideburn combo is sharp enough to cut on its own merit.) That Kogatana made me feel like he didn't respect Zoro when he first started fighting him in Baratie. I was a bit insulted, as Zoro devoted his life and his blades to developing a masterful santoryu style for two swordsmen, not one. Still, Mihawk's challenge to the severely wounded Zoro (the opening words for this video) and Zoro's promise never to lose again is one of the greatest moments in the series, period And of course, this is the opponent that gave Zoro the trademark scar from his left shoulder to the right hip, as scars on the back denote a swordsman's shame (Zoro's words not mine.)
The shame zoro refers to is turning his back to an enemy during a serious fight is a sign of cowardice and it also refers to code of Bushido that zoro follows. I think it shows just how serious zoro is about becoming the best.
The cool thing i think about Mihawk is that he does not have a goal. He just do wtf he wants. If he did not find the war with whitebeard and marine interesting, he would not have come. I think the only thing he wants and needs is a rival. I love Mihawk btw! Hope I see him soon. And I wonder what is happening with him and Perona :3 xDxD
dude if youre just a guy that cant even destroy a giant fighting someone that can easily destroy a ship without even trying then its an honor to even survive someone like that that is also proficient with blades his slashes that can easily destroy a mountain comes not just from the strongest blade but from his raw strength as well
Best character in anime period!, He made such impacts every time he comes on the screen. He only been in a few scenes but his essence is so mysterious, compelling and oozes greatness. Well written character and executed correctly. Pretty obvious Mihawk will have a HUGE impact in the end of the anime and a relation to the END villain.
Another fun fact: Mihawks sword appears to be a large Kriegmesser, a single edged sword of Germanic design, and most similar of all European weapons to the Katana, in both design and use.
Mihawk is exciting because we've never seen his full power. We don't have a scene that shows the class of enemy beyond which he cannot beat. That's what makes him a hype character. Same with Shanks, and Roger. We want to see what these guys could pull off against the strongest enemies in the series.
Visiting this video again is just pure nostalgia it's what made me subscribe to The Grandline Review in the first place. I've got to admit it's like watching a completely different RU-vidr, still very educational and straight to the point now as you was then. Can't believe how time flies I wasn't even a father the first time you caught my eye, a thank you is in order for keeping us all company and entertaining us through the years. Thank you Liam for being a dude in a room reaching out to other dudes in other rooms.
This man travelling Grandline/Newworld using a bunch of woods. Without chief, musicians, navigator, archieologist, doctor. He just casually doing what he wants he also managed to find yonkou who has a great reputaion. The best thing about Hawkeye when luffy said to Mihawk that he want to be the pirate king Hawkeye just said pirateking mission is harder than being worlds greatest swordsman. For me this guy is a literally a fcking immortal and he knows how strong he is. He is the John Wick of this series.
I remember seeing Mihawk Debüt in the anime when I was a kid. In the german Dub, the Shichibukai are referred to as "Samurai der Meere", aka "Samurai of the sea", so kid me was hyped to hell because I thought that all Shichibukai were like Mihawk (i.e. super badass swordsmen). Definitely my favourite character along with Katakuri and Zoro
I mean I’m pretty sure that is what they were going for giving his name, the fact that his sword is the shape of a cross, and his boat is the shape of a coffin
As pointed out in your shanks video, shanks was a really strong swordsman and was able to be on par with Dracule mihawk. With the belief had shanks not lost his arm, then Dracule mihawk wouldn't be the greatest swordsman in the world. In other words, mihawk got the title due to shanks no longer being able to wield a sword like he use to, given it was implied shanks was left handed.
Well to be a yonko you need to have an entire fckin army of pirates behind you, Mihawk doesn't have crew whatsoever and World Government lets him do whatever he wants, he is also one of the biggest reasons they didn't abolish Schibukai System.
He's a Yonko in strength but a Yonko is a Yonko because of their influence and Mihawk has no crew much less a network of support. A true Yonko is a character who can no longer be targetted by the combined forces of the World Government because those who stand with the Yonko will wither away the attacking force, and stands a chance against multiple Admirals simultaneously. By this standard, even Blackbeard is just the absolute minimum of what qualifies. Mihawk can do the former, but has no access to the latter. Mihawk is the real reason for the Shichibukai. Shichibukai's balancing force is to keep the strongest pirates with smaller crews on the side of the government while giving them the freedom to not be hunted by Marines and not have to answer to a Yonko who would inevitably meet up with them and force them to work for them.
happy birthday mihawk!!! :3(and midnight.love his friendship with perona.) the metaknight of one piece,my favorite of the warlords(along with boa hancock especially, kuma, buggy & crocodile.:3) and along with his rival shanks is a person i'm always interested in seeing again.
I would really love if the theory that Mihawk is a secret member of Shanks crew is true. Then we could have Luffy vs Shanks, Zoro vs mihawk, Benn Beckmann vs Sanji (I like this as they're both the smart guys in the team) then Yasopp vs Usopp. Would be awesome. Wouldn't surprise me if they do the thing they did with the Foxy Pirates. Like all the challenges..
That shit would be lit tho, then three vs the monster trio, and ussop with his father, I bet his father has to be one of the top 3 best snipers in one piece of I had to guess, he looks pretty confident
I have a theory. He said that Hawkeye became know as the world greatest swords man after shanks lost his arm. So was shanks the second greatest swords man and what if shanks was the first? How would Luffey react to Zoro having to kill shanks to fulfill his dream
At this point I'm sure that Mihawk is a member of Shanks's crew. He's the only person we have seen interact with Mihawk outside of summons and has done so throughout the series. Maybe I'm wrong but don't be too surprised if this is revealed pretty much immediately after the warlord system gets disbanded.
It's safe to say Mihawk has the skill to become an emperor, one of the stronger ones at that, seeing as how it's *heavily implied* that he could defeat shanks in the modern day, who was able to clash with the likes of Whitebeard and Blackbeard.
Only thing holding him back from being an emperor is lack of a crew, territory and influence. People seem to think that being an emperor means all you need is personal power. Which is certainly a huge part of it. But it's also about the other things Each of the emperors have massive crews with maybe the exception of Shanks as we have yet to really see much of his besides a few moments. He may only have the one ship and have a quality over quantity thing much like Roger and Luffy. Mihawk is a loner. Emperors also have command of massive amounts of territory in the New World. Mihawk has an island which is all he cares to really have. Another major thing of what makes an emperor an emperor is the massive amount of influence they have. Look at Whitebeard. Not counting his own crew he had a massive amount of allies who were willing to go to war and die to save someone who wasn't even part of their crew. Kaido has a ton of influence in the underworld and even had Doflamingo under is thumb. Shanks has enough influence to basically just walk into the 5 elders room like it was his own. Hell Luffy has a ton of influence among other pirate crews which is why he is considered a 5th emperor. Mihawk has the strength to be considered an emperor. You don't get to be called the world's strongest if you aren't ridiculously OP. But cuz of his loner nature he doesn't have the other things that actually makes an emperor an emperor. If he was a bit more social he'd easily be one
Mihawk is so badass, he defeats everyone using the worlds most impractically designed sword, Don't get me wrong, his sword looks awesome......but you'll be lucky to hit anything with a sword that has has cross guards as long as the blade its self.
Possibly. There's also a theory out there that Mihawk is Rayleigh's son because Rayleigh is seen wearing a very similar jacket to Mihawk in his first flashback appearance.
I think he probably can slice everything if directly hited and i think he would make any emperor at least one big wound or even an killing blow if you look at mihawk closely you never see some kind of scar or wound not even a little sratch after marineford that shows how hard it is to actually hit him
Dracule is so much better than “Hawkeye Mihawk” Edit: … Dracule: (uses tiny sword as a dinner knife) * Table gets chopped up* Dracule: Damn it not again
I mean it could be the same case of Zoro in the East Blue, he wasn't a pirate but he was considered a criminal and the marines went after him. So Mihawk could be the same.
